Joey is slowly changing. instead of Joey being the animeman, he will become Joey thevloggerman with all these vlogs he has been uploading. So far I'm enjoying all of it!
I mean after years of anime content and being essentially limited to anime and manga, it'll definitely burn him out. It's nice seeing him expand his reaches of contents.
Especially since he's is worried about the strike in his main channel I suppose vlogging is a nice way to branch out especially while still in Japan it would probably be harder for him to change if he was in Australia still haha
SO beautiful! I'm terminally ill and can't afford to leave the county, so my dream of going to Japan will never come true. Thank you so much for your videos. You, Aki, Garnt, Chris, and Conner's videos are my way there. They bring me so much happiness. Thank you for everything you do.
Power to you for staying strong and focusing on what elements of Japan you can enjoy, even if only vicariously through others. I can't even properly imagine what living with any terminal illness is like, so my deepest condolences. What I can relate to though, is how profoundly all the people you just listed help me with my mental health! They radiate such a fun and earnest energy that brings such good vibes.
I'm so glad Joey is uploading more on this channel. Its even more frequent than the main channel. If you didn't know, we love you joey and we love more videos to watch. So hurray.
These sort of vlogs really help my mental health. It probably sounds sad but, every time I have to go into college (in person) I rewatch 'A Journey Across Japan' before I leave my house and it calms me down so much. Thank you
make your own journey when you can. Sounds like you would enjoy it. I go out camping for the weekend very often and it really helps me "detox" from every day life.
joey’s editing here actually was really nice. he only showed all of the interesting portions of his trip without letting any clip linger too long. kept me engaged throughout the entire video, looking forward to more of this style of content!
That bridge looks like the barrier between channels. On one side you have the place that Joey and Aki stay at. On the other side you have the place that Connor takes Chris to.
I lived in Japan for a decade and I recently realized that Japan is way more full of nature than my own country. A lot of abandoned village and town too.
its so funny like how totally different parts of the world developed over thousends of years similar foods like tagliatelle in italy or this flat noodels in japan or how dumplings are present in almost every culture in one or the other way. Kinda like some evolution where the pressure on the population (of food) is our stomach.
Well, with pasta it’s not so unusual, considering noodles got both to japan and to italy from china, to japan more directly, and to italy through the silk road. You can only make noodles in so many different ways, so flat noodles would eventually develop wherever there are noodles
3 years ago i went on the trip to Japan that i dreamed of with a good friend for 2 months, although i had a blast and enjoyed it all, thanks to the nature of the trip we decided on and my friend's fondness of the outdoors, most of my trip was hiking or walking around from morning to evening, and so-- happy and satisfied from the trip as i was, i still felt like i could squeeze more of Japan's culture into it, i haven't been to an old Japanese style hotel or visited public bath or much of Tokyo's nightlife, due to spending most of the time in highly touristic places on a fast pace or hiking in the mountains and plains. i wish i would have the time(and money) to go once more to Japan and experience more of these things.
Crazy to see Joey comment on how run down the buldings across the onsen are. "Oh... this looks like my whole neightborhood! Oh wait, nope... we don't have trees."
Love this style of content from you Joey and hearing the music you made accompany it really makes it your own. Also, that road leading toward the bridge near the end (9:11) would be an excellent spot for longboarding. Japanese countryside would probably be an awesome place to do some downhill. Thanks!
Its really cool, seeing that a hotel can operate that long... Most of the time amuzement park, hotel, restaurant just go out of business and replaced with something else...
joey on the podcast: i dont eat breakfast, im not even hungry when i wake up joey in this video: i love this type of breakfast (eats literally everything)
For anyone that cares, it's actually the smallest town in Japan by population too. Most of the remaining population are elderly or work in the local city hall. It's not uncommon to come across deer and monkeys on the road on the way up to the onsen. (My wife's grandfather lives there and happens to be a relative of the onsen owners).
Yeah I definitely like the more chill side of your content. It is so nice just to watch you having fun with your friends in an interesting place. (I love the kind of old buildings like these at 3:11)
After watching the video, I had this feeling of being sad of being forgotten. I am imagining myself living there and all i can imagine is me sitting outside and wonder what the city life feels like
That’s so crazy - I just read an article about this ryokan but it didn’t have many photos - so I was wishing I could see more and here you are! Don’t think I could ever afford staying there but I’m living vicariously thru you all!

I always like the small cities in Japan especially like this one, it's just sad to see them get abandoned. Japanese companies need to start moving to different cities other than Tokyo
You have to soak _and_ boil the acorns, and it can take a few days. I got bored on a camping trip once and remembered that some Native American tribes used flour/meal made from acorns. A friend of mine and I did some research and spent the better part of our week prepping acorns to mash down and cook. Definitely not something I would do again, but it was fun.
Just commenting off the bat to say how cute it is to get your new vid notification 10 seconds before Aki's. I can just picture you two cuties in separate rooms: "I'm hitting the upload button! You ready?" ... "I'm ready!" *clicks simultaneously* 💖

Joey is slowly changing. instead of Joey being the animeman, he will become Joey thevloggerman with all these vlogs he has been uploading. So far I'm enjoying all of it!
He got infected by the "Abroad In Japan" virus, soon enough he will have a ramen shop and a bad addiction of familymart chicken.
I love the vlogs myself as well.
You can tell he’s starting to enjoy doing these types of videos more instead of his usual stuff on the main channel

I see you are using the twenty seven soundtrack. I honestly listen to the song a lot and I absolutely love it.
i love japanese countryside videos, great vlog!
The logical explanation of the building near the hotel is maybe some kind of dorm where all the staffs live. You know for some efficiency I guess.

"This bridge is perilous". Me thinking about Chris and Connor's bridge nightmare.
I just spent 5 weeks in Japan visiting my wife and her family. It was my first time ever in Japan. I forever changed. Can't wait to return.
