    Hey guys, 2 things I forgot to mention in this video.
    1. I wish I could've commented on the flipping experience without the bottom weights, but obviously I can't. That being said it is worth mentioning that if you prefer them out for that less handle biased experience then you have to deal with the G10 being unsecured at the bottom.
    2. One more nitpick, I hate how the end weights stick out at the bottom. It isn't a huge deal (especially considering I forgot to mention it) but it is something that has annoyed me over my week with the VP.
    Thanks guys!

      Maybe the sticking out is part of why they don't come out, since mine don't particularly stick out of the handles much

    I feel like while $140 isnt a terrible price for what your getting with the vulp pro, but there are so many better options for that price range i.e. Prysma, blemished prysma pro, orion (ik you already mentioned this). SO while $140 isnt a bad price for a g10 7075 alu channel balisong, I personally think that Prysma is a MUCH better option for this price range. Nabalis could never compete with the MW tolerandces QC and warrtanty.

    • @BladeBias
      @BladeBias  9 місяців тому +10

      But with the Prysma you're getting a less durable grade aluminum and an arguably less grippy design. I don't disagree that it's a better option but so many people just immediately point to it even though some people might not consider it better based on what they're looking for.

    I’ve really been enjoying mine. I think the price is right considering the design and everything that comes with it. I just wish the end pivots were easily removable without worrying about the G10 (yes I could glue them down, not ideal though). I also wish the handle gap was quite a bit smaller, as you mentioned it’s only on this first run apparently but it still bothers me. Hopefully they will make a purple/black at some point. I think my complaints are fairly minor though. Overall it’s a home run, they did an amazing job and it’s a MASSIVE upgrade over the Vulp.

      I think the QC issues should be talked about more. For $140 and being called a "Pro" it should have kinks like this worked out. Ultimately this is part of an upgrade path that I'm not sure a pro flipper would get in on. I'll need to try one out eventually. I probably would have bought one at launch had they had purple/black but glad I didn't.

    I feel alright about the pricing however I do think that it could be 20$ cheaper. A Prysma is 140$ and arguably a better flipper, but the Vulp does have the g10.

  • @spyroclone152

    No hate to Brandon or Will. I love those guys. But I was honestly taken aback by the initial price of the Vulp pro. From my perspective, It's a pretty big ask to have a Chinese made balisong compete with the likes of Machinewise, Glidr Co., and or Squid Industries in terms of build quality and longevity. Looking at the specs and niceties, I kind of see this as a $100 to $120 offering instead of a $140 one. I think it would be a tactically smart move to offer the Vulp pro as a more competitively priced alternative to the Mako, or even the Orion instead of an initial dip to compete against some of the more reputable mid-range options. After all, if you're paying double the price of the Vulp, then one should expect double the experience. I haven't flipped it, so I cannot say for certain if that's the case. However, I do think that including similar sub-par hardware, oil, and loctite into the package is not enough of a justification to bump the price an extra ten or so Washingtons. I think I wouldn't complain to have a cheaper Vulp pro if it didn't have those things. The case is very appreciated though. If there is one advantage, the Vulp pro presents itself as a widely accessible flipper thanks to Amazon, which is typically a sore point for most mid range offerings besides Squid Industries.
    It doesn't help that the Vulp pro is somewhat seen as the revised vulp with refinements that could have been addressed in the base model as a Vulp v2. It's like trying to compare the base Honda Civic to the Civic type R in price. At the end of the day, they're both completely different cars, but to the casual car buyer it's still seen as a more expensive Civic. There's no doubt that it can flip, like you've demonstrated. However, I'm still somewhat concerned about the G10 integration that could prove as a point of failure if someone was going to give the Vulp Pro the beater business. And if the base Vulp is to be considered, I can only imagine this being an even bigger nightmare to take apart when time comes to do maintenence and deep tuning. At the end of the day, I do not discourage anyone interested in the Vulp Pro. I may pick one up myself way later down the line as I would love to support Will and Brandon for their fine creation. But I would be lying to your face if I said that I don't see the Vulp pro as a slight tad overpriced.

    Oddly enough, learning to flip on balis with ridiculously pinchy tang areas kinda made it so the g10 on the side doesn't really hit my hand in ricochets or other tricks like that, it's almost like its a little too high up, but when im doing stuff where I need the grip there I hit it so to me it's actually perfect

    • @spyroclone152
      @spyroclone152 8 місяців тому

      The Nautilus V2 is very notorious within the Balisong community as being one of Squid Industries' most inconsistent products from a quality standpoint. There have been cases where the Nautilus V2 has developed tap and play from a few measly drops, alongside having tolerance issues out the box. These issues are not super widespread, but it is definitely more frequent compared to Squid's other products. There is also the conversation about the price. The Nautilus V2 is incredibly expensive for a trainer at $230 for the base ($250 for inked or special edition models). To put in perspective the Krake Raken V3 Trainer, arguably one of the best aluminum flippers on the market, is priced similarly at $220 and is a far superior flipper in my personal opinion. At the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. The Nautilus V2 is a lighter balisong with incredible grip due to the G10. Not to mention it is a highly customizable platform thanks to the G10 scales being removable.
      If you are wanting a balisong with those factors that are similar to the Nautilus V2, I highly recommend the Nabalis Trident. Aesthetically, it is ... unique. But, it is a very nice cheaper alternative to that of the Nautilus. The Trident is made from the same 7075 aluminum material, is on a bushings system, comes with a small case (I think), and also comes with all the hardware needed to maintain the knife. All in all, I think it is a superior deal overall. However, if those factors really don't matter to you and all you really only want something good to flip, I personally cannot think of a better balisong than the LDY Orion v1.5 trainer, and or even going cheaper with the Vulp.

      @@redx6923I'm not saying it's the best at flipping for 140 I'm saying what one is getting for 140 is worth it.
      there isn't another balisong that offers what the vulp pro does that is not a clone.

    For a mass-produced Chinese bali, the vulp pro is egregiously overpriced. 🙃👎

    UPDATE!
    This is an updated comment from one that I made a couple of weeks ago. I wish to share my new perspective on this balisong after I spent some more time to ponder. After I have done some more research, getting further educated on the balisong manufacturing process, as well as taken a step back to see all of the things that this balisong comes with compared to others, I personally think this balisong more than earns its price tag. I personally underestimated the overall quality of Nabalis' hardware. The bit that also acts as a pivot needle is an absolute godsend, and is a tool that is loved by many within the community. Lube is lube, and it is better to have some lube than no lube. Am I right fellas ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)? But in all seriousness, the case, hardware, and tools given in-box are some of the best in the industry, and are a really nice inclusion that most other manufacturers don't include.
    I also neglected the fact that this balisong is made with 7075 Aluminum, which is a complete miracle that this thing is below $200 considering that almost all the other balisongs within this price range is made of the softer 6061. 7075 is twice as durable, and a bit denser than 6061. This is also not counting in the fact that the G10 integration demands extra milling within this harder material, which results in more consumable milling bits being used in the manufacturing process (which are not cheap). People don't realize that the cutters in the machines that make the balisongs use parts that don't last forever, and get worn down after only making a handful of knives. Also, within the mid range balisong market, there really is no other balisong like the Vulp Pro. The only other balisong that utilizes a hybrid G10 inlay with aluminum is the LDY Cygnus; the very same balisong Will used to inspire the creation of the Vulp Pro. And guess what? The Cygnus is another chinese balisong at a grail price of $570 that many folks really love in the community. So why should the Vulp Pro not be given a chance if folks are loving other chinese made balisongs like the Orion? I want to say that my previous conclusion of this balisong being overpriced was from a point of ignorance. Compared to some of the offerings within the $100 ~ $200 mid-range price point, the Vulp Pro is an objectively exceptional, fantastic value compared to the competition. This is not to mention that this is, in time, a widely available flipper that can be bought on Amazon with all the trimmings of the Bezos customer service. While we may be hesitant to give a Chinese company a chance at premium balisongs given their history of making cheap stuff in the past; Nabalis is truly a company worth supporting. To all who are still not convinced that the Vulp Pro is worth its price tag, I implore you to take a step back and consider the reasoning as to why it is priced as such before calling it a ripoff. Also, if you are trying to downplay how good this flipper is because Will Hirsch designed it, then your bias is getting in the way of how good this package really is. I know not everybody likes Will and Brandon, but I seriously think you should not let personal feelings get in the way of ascertaining a products worth.
    Apologies for the long-winded comment. I just needed to get that off my chest. I will be buying this balisong in the gold/black colors as seen in the video once it comes back in stock. Hope more folks out there give this a chance. Have a nice day.

      While I never saw your original comment, I can heavily respect the ability to admit you were under informed and do research to further form an opinion.

    i never tried taking out the bottom pivot weights until now since you mentioned it, and mine are so stuck they won't even turn, so that is definitely something that's more than just yours

    Oorrrrr you can support Balisong Flipping and get a Polaris for $90!!! 7075 hand polished amazing tune and i mean Brandon is cool! Imo it has a better design especially in the handle gap area... And the overall design rly i mean the vulps handles just have way to much goin on you cant tell Will just smashed all his fav balisongs together and called it a day after slapping a wack bottle opener
