I have a strange affinity with John, it’s strange how things turn out. He is remarkably similar to my best friend’s father growing up not far away in Sheffield. He too commanded his own presence when he spoke, had the smashing beard and was ex pro soldier too (Coldstream Guards) The difference being that he always had a pipe on the go (can still hear the sound of it catching his teeth) Back then all the wise old boys smoked pipes and/or had tins of snuff on the go. All dead now though unfortunately.

Teacher - your vision of your soul merging with that of the woman you knew had such a profound effect on you. It was like nothing you had experienced before but understood so thoroughly in the moment that to come back to the norm you both knew seemed agonizingly untethering, almost absurd even. I keep visualizing so many memories of my own shadow merging with that of my companions with the sun or a bright light behind me, but conceptualizing the “light” version of that - the fullness of it, the completion of it, not just the empty after-effect of it. Perhaps, better to compare how this world is a shadow of the world we are meant to be in, and that it was like asking a butterfly to return to its chrysalis and continue being patient (perhaps too, a comparison for Purgatory if there ever was one: agonizing waiting, and that one’s strength is made perfect in weakness). Would I be correct to observe what you witnessed was an example of what’s to come with the communion of all souls, saints, and angels, just on a scale of with but only one other person?

I totally share the experience of glimpses of clarity - spacious, non-dual , non-self - only to fall back into 'darkness' again. If I a have 'seen' directly that there is no 'self', no separation - why do I then continue to suffer because I have resumed my belief in the illusion?
This is pure, unmitigated truth. Anyone who has had a near-death experience knows this Union of spirits to be true; John Butler has found out this truth through meditation, not that experience. It’s wonderful how he’s found the ineffable Oneness of all that is truly REAL....all that has genuine Being. It’s the union with God that we desire- listen to this video again and again for the truth about the world, which is a temporary shadow and a school of souls, from which we go to the Father. Who is unconditional, eternal Love. Nothing real can die. That which is real, lives forever. Everything that is passing/ is but a likeness of the Eternal. Everything amazing you want to do but you are unable (let's say you are traumatized, disabled, or you feeling low about yourself) is building an unbelievable amount of energy which will show up somewhere - or in this life or in the afterlife. I don't believe that arrogant jerks who are successful, while honest and kind people are struggling and are unable to make something out of life, that this is fair. Their struggle is building a huge future potential in some form of gathered energy of wanting and dreaming about.
Beautiful how you speak from your own experience. Question - you said that one can be cast back into darkness, is that due to sincere spiritual practice? Some recent studies have indicated how meditation may be "bad" for you, but when meditating, I feel a deep inner peace. I feel that spiritual practices are very good, it's just that when one is "just being" and "not doing", they are left alone with their struggles. Can you please bring some clarity to this? Much love.
It is indeed possible that, the closer one gets to the spirit, the stronger the reaction of the disturbers, so so speak, is. As long as we are alive, we can be in touch with many invisible realities, some of these working with us in an obvious way, some others working in a less obvious way. The first we call angels, disincarnated helpers, spiritual masters and so on; the second we call devils or disturbers - they also help us, by strongly and unpleasently pointing out to our weaknesses. I wouldn't talk of temptation in the classical way, I prefer to see these interventions as paradoxical chances to understand better our need to be one with the spirit, to be in the spirit, aware, as much as we can.
If we are all one, makes me wonder if we still have individuality. Like being on a sports team; you're a contribution on that same team but you're still an individual. This has more to do when we get to the afterlife.

JB is simply saying what all the Saints and Sages have been saying for thousands of years. It's the Perennial Philosophy, The Hero's Journey, The Pearl of Great Price. Vedanta, Buddhism in particular as well as Sufism and the mystic traditions of faith and the native peoples all over the globe.
The longing for a woman arises from a sense of lack, which in turn arises from a belief in the separate self that has left its true home. The search for a woman to provide relief from that sense of lack inevitably ends in disappointment, and it has to be so, otherwise the sense of lack would be confirmed to have been a true lack that could only have been relieved by finding the perfect woman. The failure to find this, is confirmation that the belief in lack was an attack thought that tried to attack our true invulnerability.
Yes, fortunately I came to this realization a few years ago and stop searching, stop looking for some one else but God. Now, life is such a relief, such profound dwelling, such an natural everyday experience of what it is. Truly blessed communing with Nature, the Spirit, the Source the God...I've been earning for this ease, for this connection all my life.

I totally share the experience of glimpses of clarity - spacious, non-dual , non-self - only to fall back into 'darkness' again. If I a have 'seen' directly that there is no 'self', no separation - why do I then continue to suffer because I have resumed my belief in the illusion?
The Law of Thermodynamics saying 'energy can never be created or destroyed' also applies to you 🙂

This is pure, unmitigated truth. Anyone who has had a near-death experience knows this Union of spirits to be true; John Butler has found out this truth through meditation, not that experience. It’s wonderful how he’s found the ineffable Oneness of all that is truly REAL....all that has genuine Being. It’s the union with God that we desire- listen to this video again and again for the truth about the world, which is a temporary shadow and a school of souls, from which we go to the Father. Who is unconditional, eternal Love.

Everything amazing you want to do but you are unable (let's say you are traumatized, disabled, or you feeling low about yourself) is building an unbelievable amount of energy which will show up somewhere - or in this life or in the afterlife. I don't believe that arrogant jerks who are successful, while honest and kind people are struggling and are unable to make something out of life, that this is fair. Their struggle is building a huge future potential in some form of gathered energy of wanting and dreaming about.

Beautiful how you speak from your own experience. Question - you said that one can be cast back into darkness, is that due to sincere spiritual practice? Some recent studies have indicated how meditation may be "bad" for you, but when meditating, I feel a deep inner peace. I feel that spiritual practices are very good, it's just that when one is "just being" and "not doing", they are left alone with their struggles. Can you please bring some clarity to this? Much love.
It is indeed possible that, the closer one gets to the spirit, the stronger the reaction of the disturbers, so so speak, is. As long as we are alive, we can be in touch with many invisible realities, some of these working with us in an obvious way, some others working in a less obvious way. The first we call angels, disincarnated helpers, spiritual masters and so on; the second we call devils or disturbers - they also help us, by strongly and unpleasently pointing out to our weaknesses. I wouldn't talk of temptation in the classical way, I prefer to see these interventions as paradoxical chances to understand better our need to be one with the spirit, to be in the spirit, aware, as much as we can.

JB is simply saying what all the Saints and Sages have been saying for thousands of years. It's the Perennial Philosophy, The Hero's Journey, The Pearl of Great Price. Vedanta, Buddhism in particular as well as Sufism and the mystic traditions of faith and the native peoples all over the globe.
The longing for a woman arises from a sense of lack, which in turn arises from a belief in the separate self that has left its true home. The search for a woman to provide relief from that sense of lack inevitably ends in disappointment, and it has to be so, otherwise the sense of lack would be confirmed to have been a true lack that could only have been relieved by finding the perfect woman. The failure to find this, is confirmation that the belief in lack was an attack thought that tried to attack our true invulnerability.
Yes, fortunately I came to this realization a few years ago and stop searching, stop looking for some one else but God. Now, life is such a relief, such profound dwelling, such an natural everyday experience of what it is. Truly blessed communing with Nature, the Spirit, the Source the God...I've been earning for this ease, for this connection all my life.

Where is she now John? You were kindred spirits. I think she knew. Knowing is a great step. Acting on what you know is true is very difficult. She would have had to destroy the life she was living with her husband. These things happen when you wake up to Spiritual reality. It's life altering. I don't know why God offers us things that seem so utterly disruptive and blissful. I make no judgment on your experience. I understand as I experienced something so very similar. It's like the veil has been lifted and no matter how hard you try you can never go back to the life you led before. God bless you John. You are a doppelganger for my spiritual director John Crocker. He was a Trappist monk. The resemblance is uncanny. He talked the same way right down to the same mannerisms. He passed 6 years ago on April 4th. Discovering you is like he's come back from the dead. ❤
