Great explanation. Thanks man. However, the very last step/command you run at the end of the video, you run the show vpc orphan-ports command. when i do that, it never finishes/loads. it just says its going through port database and to be patient. for you it was pretty quick but for me it never pulls up. any ideas?
This along with your how VPC works video is an AWESOME introduction into the technology and the config. Is there more information on member ports and how they should be setup? For example, a windows server with Dual NIC?
They are SFP ports, so just twinax or fibre would be fine You could use the RJ45 SFP I guess, in which case I assume straight through would be ok, and auto-mdix would fix it up if there's a problem. I honestly don't remember the last time I needed to use a cross-over...
Network Direction I’ve been able to make it work today as your tutorial without any issues! I’m waiting for two x 40Gbp/s cable to have more output :) instead of two x 10Gbp/s. Also would like to move the keep-alive away from the mgmt 0. Straight cable is working for the mgmt 0 setup. Thank you very much for your videos and help! 👍🏻
In VXLAN you have loopback interfaces for BGP peering. When you add vPC, you need to make sure that you have a secondary IP on those loopbacks. The IP needs to be the same on both switches. I haven't done a video on VXLAN with vPC. May it's a good time to look into it.
Great video. Quick question. If my member ports are connecting another switch in trunk mode. How does Vlaning work? Do I have to allow every vlan on my domain on my port-channel and also allow those vlans on the VPC peers?
Nice config overview. If you don't mind sharing - how did you configure Putty to highlight the syntax output? This would be helpful when configuring multiple groups of vPC peers!
Yeah I sniffed that out in the comment section, thank you. Wish there was a way to set on your console locally for any HW platform inside the Cisco realm, I really dig it. Great Video thought.
Should the meber ports be same on both the switches and the ports used in Peer link, Like if we have used Eth1/53 and 54 in Sw1, DO we need to add Eth1/53 and 54 only on the second switch or any other port will work, I can bundle 1/37-38 ??
Great video, nice and simple, just how I like it :-) Just a side note - How did you get the different colours in Putty? I've been trying to figure this out.
The syntax colouring comes from the Nexus switch. Enable it with the 'terminal color' or 'terminal color persist' command. Unfortunately, I don't know of a way to do this on other devices like ASA's or IOS routers
Hello Mr Network, Wanted to check with you - are you using real Nexus 9000 or Nexus 9000v - I have tried to configure vPC on Nexus 9000v on 7.0.3.I5.2 but the lacp leg for the southbound device doesn't come up
@@NetworkDirection kidding about firing part. When I typed no shutdown on port-channel 15, that's where the loop happened. All production network down for 30 minutes 😂
Wonderful explanation with all important concepts and scenarios in short video
One of the best vPC explanation, Great....Waiting for more videos or interested to join your class
Thank you! I really appreciate your feedback and I am glad our video has been able to help you. Cheers
nice presentation and with very straight forward in narration, without any confusion guidelines.
Excellent refresher... been a few years since I did vPCs
Thanks!
Thank you the videos offers a good and clear description and configuration of key aspects of the NXO Cisco Family. Merci
Thanks, glad you liked itt
So happy to find you❤️
So happy you're here!
Very nice, and simple way to understand VPC... much appreciated.
I’m really glad you liked it!
Very simple and to the point cofnig of vPC with simple topology. Excellent Video and presentation.
I'm glad you like it, thanks!
Great video but you should have continued to the end to show member ports are connected and the vpc and port channel are up
You describe very well in videos
Thanks for such stuff.
Excellent Explanation Way....
Thanks!
awesome video. Thanks for your hard work
You're very welcoem
번역 기능이 있어 좋다 너무 훌륭한 강의다
Such an excellent explanation 🥳🥳
Thanks! I just realised how bad I sounded in these early videos 😬
Excellent! Simple and precise!!
Thanks!
Awesome and thanks. Vpc now preety clear for me...
Can i somehow do it over not mgmt port? Like, how can i use port 47 and 48 for hartbeat? Do i need to create separate vrf?
you sure can!
thank you for sharing, would you please comment what does the command " spanning-tree port type network" in the port-channel for vpc peer-link?
This tells spanning-tree that there's another switch at the other end of the link, so it should look for BPDUs
Perfecto!! helped a lot to configure my nexus setup... Thank you so much buddy!!
You're welcome Hrid! Glad to help

Full of Useful content.
Great video!!!
Thanks
do we need to give switchport command on interface Po15?
Good explanation, got everything. Thanks
What happens if I don't put VPC 10 in the portchannel?
very simple and effective good job
Fantastic explanation. Thnx a lot
Glad you liked it 😎
Between the mgmt 0, is it a straight cable or crossover cable?
They are SFP ports, so just twinax or fibre would be fine
You could use the RJ45 SFP I guess, in which case I assume straight through would be ok, and auto-mdix would fix it up if there's a problem.

Network Direction On our Cisco Nexus 3064-X, both management back port are Ethernet. That’s why I ask for the cable type :)
Makes sense. The N3K’s are a little different to the other Nexus.
I think straight through would be the way to go

if you have Nexus 9300 4 of them and runing BGP evpn vxlan with VPC should you be runing VPC Routing or not
Love iT!!!!!
Thanks!

That's a Nexus feature. Use 'terminal colour [persist]' to enable.
I wish it were on ASA as well

Smoke and mirrors!

@@NetworkDirection Video is not available =(
You're right, the URL changed. I have updated it
Thanks this helped me configure my vpc
Thanks for the video. Would it be too much trouble to explain how did you configure your putty to display different console colors and text colors?
That's not putty unfortunately. That's config within the Nexus
great explanation, thank you sir for made this video. very helpful . . .
this is a very nice video, thanks for sharing

I always try to match them, but no, they don’t need to be the same
thank you
You're welcome!
very useful video thanks.
Does the peer-link have to be in the same VRF as member ports?
The peer-link is layer-2, just as the member ports would be. So, they're not in a VRF.
Thank you very much, the tutorial is very helpful for me
It's good to hear that it was helpful!

I'm just wondering what 7 clowns didn't like this video. Great job!!!
one's who don't like Cisco maybe?
Thanks
great video , thank you so much
Simple and excellent, thank you.... :)
Thank you for the video. I tried to ping from switch 1 to the next one using mgmt 0 ip, but it didn't ping. I dont't understand why.
Did you use the management VRF when pinging?
Excellent Job !!
i have one doubt. Can i manage second switch or config the second switch from active switch. Like VSS????
The two switches are managed separately as far as vPC is concerned. They don't share a control plane as in VSS
excellent.
Thank you!
Mate, you deserved more views and appreciation. Please find a way to promote your channel.... Thank you.
I would love to promote the channel, but it's expensive...

This is on a real 93180. I haven't tried it in VIRL on the 9000v yet
awesome thanks for gr8 work! please keep it up!
Will do! I'm currently working on my CCDP. After I'm done with that I'm planning to do a video on how vPC works 'under the hood'.
Interested?
I think it will work in CML now too, not that I've tried
fantastic!
COOOL!! muchas gracias!!!
Good stuff man, keep up the great work!. Question: what tool do you use for animation?
Depending on the video, I use some combination of PowerPoint (2d), fusion (3D), and shotcut (timeline)
Thanks!@@NetworkDirection
