Did you bore the other side of the stock Plenum throat? Otherwise I could easily see restriction. A 3in intake (76mm), to 75mm Throttle body, to 70mm Plenum throat opening. IMHO, the Plenum throat should be ported close as possible to 75mm without affecting structure integrity.
If the diameter of the intake tube, in this case the CAI by Injen, and the upper plenum's neck remain the same diameter, what is the gain in a slightly larger throttle body? Wouldn't the intake tube - be it cold air or otherwise - as well as the plenum's neck have to match the 75mm in order to be effective (or the throttle body's 3 1/4" vs 3" diameter)? Thanks.
the additional 5mm causes the blade to more closely match the size of the tube ID. so yes you're better off with a bigger tube but unless you want to tune it, screwing with the MAF tube size requires tuning.
@@Aeneas137 Thanks. I did end up getting the 75mm throttle body along with a 3.5" intake, cams, and a revup lower plennum swap. Along with all other mods the car already had the (conservative) tune yielded 290whp at 7k maintaining power all the way up to 8k RPM. I'm happy.
