@@mattrenn32 it’s pretty obvios you’re wrong, and Paul broke no rules. If he did he would have been subject to said rule, and penalized. Did that happen…no, thanks for playing “should we or should we not follow the advice from the galactically stupid”!!

Absolutely. This year I think, Paul argued a ruling from the tournament director on an out of bounds, played his provisional, and ended up winning the ruling, giving him a stoke back. For anyone to question Paul regarding rules is very questionable in itself. Especially at a world championship where he knows he is being videoed, I would highly doubt that anyone, let a lone Paul, would intentionally break a rule that blatantly in front of his card-mates and spectators. If anything, he probably verified with his card-mates it was okay to move if he had any doubt it would be a question.
He may know the rules really well but if theres something you think he might have gotten wrong, I think its fine to challenge him. Anyone can make mistakes. That being said, I think what he challenged Paul on was pretty petty.
Even if Paul did do it out of frustration, it was his right to move that log. And the top competitors get frustrated but Nate wouldn’t know anything about that.
Course designers should have rebarb'd and staked the large log on the green of hole 5 if they wanted it to be a perm feature for the hole and not applicable to the PDGA dead and unattached rule for Paul's putt.
I believe that log was still connected to its roots in the ground making it a permanent structure? But other than that, I suppose nothing if it's not specifically stated in the caddy book.
803.01A "A player must choose the stance that results in the least movement of any obstacle that is a permanent or integral part of the course. Once a stance has been taken, the player may not move an obstacle in order to make room for a throwing motion. It is legal for a player's throwing motion to cause incidental movement of an obstacle." The log is definitely a permanent or integral part of the course. 803.01B.3 "A player may restore course equipment to its proper working order, including the removal of obstacles." He also didn't move it back.
Ya'll need to chill out with Nate. He saw something that seemed out of the ordinary and brought it to attention, and clearly felt the intentionality of the log placement trumps a players decision to move said log as it's unattached. It's pretty clear that the log in question was intentionally placed there by the course designer as a permanent and integral obstacle on the course and therefore cannot be moved to improve a player's stance.
@@mattrenn32 it’s pretty obvios you’re wrong, and Paul broke no rules. If he did he would have been subject to said rule, and penalized. Did that happen…no, thanks for playing “should we or should we not follow the advice from the galactically stupid”!!
@@SuperDave44Mag What part am i wrong about? Paul broke the rules here. Tournament director even said so, but enforcement is up to the card.
Was it legal? no. Was it a smart play? yes.
The best champions in every sport "misinterpret" the rules to get an edge. if yain't cheatin yain't tryin!
Nate: "I'm gonna challenge that."
*Puts on white flat brim hat.
*Puts on Nike SBs

"Is that okay to do?" I don't think you should question Paul about what is ok and not, he knows everything about this sport.
Yes he is the rules master for sure
He may know the rules really well but if theres something you think he might have gotten wrong, I think its fine to challenge him. Anyone can make mistakes. That being said, I think what he challenged Paul on was pretty petty.
Even if Paul did do it out of frustration, it was his right to move that log. And the top competitors get frustrated but Nate wouldn’t know anything about that.
Nates just jealous
Paul needs to go put the log back
Does anyone else notice how the announcements from Nate are nearly wrong in each prediction.

Stay tuned for our coverage in the off season of the Bria Series! 🤙
Course designers should have rebarb'd and staked the large log on the green of hole 5 if they wanted it to be a perm feature for the hole and not applicable to the PDGA dead and unattached rule for Paul's putt.
Paul is just giving me anxiety. I feel like I'm putting. I've never felt this way in 15 years of watching him
If Paul can move the log on 5, what's stopping anyone from moving the huge log on 7?
I believe that log was still connected to its roots in the ground making it a permanent structure? But other than that, I suppose nothing if it's not specifically stated in the caddy book.
Sounds like they need to clarify the rule then huh
803.01A "A player must choose the stance that results in the least movement of any obstacle that is a permanent or integral part of the course. Once a stance has been taken, the player may not move an obstacle in order to make room for a throwing motion. It is legal for a player's throwing motion to cause incidental movement of an obstacle."
The log is definitely a permanent or integral part of the course.
803.01B.3 "A player may restore course equipment to its proper working order, including the removal of obstacles."
He also didn't move it back.
Ya'll need to chill out with Nate. He saw something that seemed out of the ordinary and brought it to attention, and clearly felt the intentionality of the log placement trumps a players decision to move said log as it's unattached. Bashing him over and over isn't productive or necessary. If you disagree, don't be an internet bully. Be professional with your comments for a professional commentator. Good on you Nate for speaking your mind 👊
If Nate has the freedom to speak his mind shouldn’t these guys in the commentary have the same freedom? Stop bullying these people in the comment section slick!
I get that it might not be against the rules, but I’d prefer if disc golf players didn’t move/alter the course like Paul did. It might be legal, but it strikes me as wrong, and as defeating the spirit of the hole. I’d never do it.
If it’s legal it really doesn’t matter how it strikes you…just sayin.
@@SuperDave44Mag thanks captain obvious
@@SuperDave44Mag isn't legal in this situation though.
@@mattrenn32 again…it sure was until you can prove otherwise.
I didn’t know you move shit around for a putt!???
I don't necessarily think Nate is in the wrong for having that opinion, but to call it unprofessional is pretty unprofessional. It's pretty cut and dry in the rule book for dead and unattached. The rules should be more clear. Especially for Worlds...
I root for McBeth
To see Ezra almost ACE the hole and then to go out of bounds 🤢🤮🤮
Yes way brian. The game is already exciting enough without you and nate trying to create drama and act as if every shot is just amazing. Truth is, of the 3 channels that cover tournements, i seldom leave the sound on for yours more than a few minutes
@perksofdiscgolf Nate Perkins you clearly don’t like Paul, you kept going on about how unprofessional and you didn’t like his attitude...But when Nikko Locastro was kicking his disc, punching his bag, throwing his hat on the ground just last week was you were all laughing and didn’t say a word about him being unprofessional. Not a fan bro... with attitude like that and bias opinion as a commentator. I don’t like even listing to this and makes me not want to watch Gatekeeper. Just read these comments no one else is enjoying this either. If you can’t be professional...Don’t commentate. ( My bad that was AJ not Nate a couple weeks ago.)
Thanks for the feedback. It’s one of my goals to commentate as unbiased as possible. I do not have an inherit bias against Paul. I apologize if it came off that way. I will do my best to improve 🙏
@@perksofdiscgolf5731 You're fine. People are overreacting and or confusing you with other commentators. I liked the discussion on what Mcbeth did. It was a bit sketchy and at least needed to get addressed.
The mini comment was made by AJ, not Nate.
@@waynebryant1857 you’re right that was my bad.
Wouldn't be a Gatekeeper video with McBeth playing if we didn't have Perkins taking digs as often as possible. Talk about unprofessional, how about your inability to commentate without your disdain and bias leaking through?
I take digs as often as possible?
It’s one of my goals to commentate with as little bias as possible. Can you help me identify other instances of me taking digs so that I can improve?
@@perksofdiscgolf5731 I have a feeling he's confusing you with AJ from a couple weeks ago.
I like Nate’s commentary and didn’t find his comment unprofessional in any way. He seems unbiased, courteous and very knowledgable about the sport. Thank you for calling like you see it Nate
I don’t disagree with Nate. I am a huge fan of Paul, but all players should be held accountable and if a player does something that is potentially against the rules it shouldn’t be swept under the rug, whether you’re the #1 player or #500 player in the world
Nate Perkins you should go tell Paul your feelings about his log in person. Just get in the top 10 sometime in your life. How is this guy even a commentator when he’s barely a professional?
Challenging Paul on hole 5? What a crybaby
Calling the most professional player in the sport unprofessional... 😂
Yeah Nate was a little petty there wasn’t he?!
@@SuperDave44Mag yeah... I just feel like if it was anyone else that did it they'd get a laugh or even a "wow great thinking" but not Paul.. could be wrong but that's how it came across
@@michaelgadberry2054 I agree…for some reason Nate has an issue with Paul. Maybe he should give up commentating.
@Adam Nay not at all, but you do have your opinion…however off base it may be.
@Adam Nay he did nothing wrong, and the course management put the log back. There was nothing unprofessional at all about it. Stop hating and move on!
Who actually thinks Nate provides quality commentary and how does he still get the job? Dude is boring and way too biased at times.
Nah. This aint it.
He's definetly one of the best commentators imo
I think what Paul did on the green of hole 5 with the log was not OK! It is part of the course design and he didn't even put it back. Just imagine someone on the lead card went through that gap in the water afterward!
Sure, the log was unattached, but it's not like it fell there by accident. Shitty move on McBeth's part, even if he's not technically breaking the rules.
I want see how this challenge goes for nate. I've heard its a permanent part of the course. But calling Paul unprofessional is just a little over the top there nate.
Good call on the log, moving it altered the course for the remaining card…
Legal to do, but I agree it should have been put back.
The rules of disc golf say if it is dead and not attached to anything it is legal to move. There is a Tournament committee member following every card that could have told him he can’t move it.
@@AutobahnSHO it was moved back for the lead card
Speak your opinion on the world champ and his followers will come out crying and try and cancel ya, Nate. Dont listen to em. Keep killin it. #LogLivesMatter
Except he doesn't know the rules.......
Commentator needs to learn Paul's an expert on rules and he should shush 🤫himself rather than challenge Paul out of all people.
Brian Earhart's commentary is inane, insightless, drivel. Nate makes plenty of substantive comments. Brian's comments are empty and pointless. He likes listening to his own TV voice impersonation. It's awful.
Maybe Nate Perkins should comment on his friend Paige Pierce, with her unprofessional move on hole 10 round 4.
@@frazehaze she missed the triple mando and apparently the crowd and maybe even the spotter said she made it, so she played her disc as normal rather than going to the drop zone for missing it
Mcbeth is such a cheater moving that log on hole 5.
Brian earnhardt dweeb calling it dead wood ...that log was set to protect OB
Every wood that's not on a life tree is dead ' that don't mean crap when it's common sense that log was for the course
Lol, you can tell both Nate and Brian hate Paul. Haters gonna hate
Miss Mcbeth seems more relaxed today.
Not to be an asshole, but it's probably not best to have your high strong wife on your back during the world championships.
Again absolutely no offense, but it's just a different dynamic when you're in competition
Perkins isn't one of my favorite commentators already, but calling Paul unprofessional for moving a log that he was allowed to move within the rules, is just too much. Feels personal and takes away from the coverage, IMO.
I don’t care for Paul, but I think the issue falls with the PDGA. They need to clean up these gray areas in the rules. While I agree it was unprofessional for Paul to do that (he could’ve easily made that putt by straddling the log), he was within his rights to do it.
Yeah regardless of what you think of McBeth, it’s an argument about rules. If anybody is to blame over the controversy, it’s the organization that creates the rules or the course designer for not specifying that certain obstacles can’t be moved. Perkins critiquing Paul about it and judging Paul’s character over a controversial topic looks worse on Perkins than Paul.
@@NSisFTW certainly seems like there is some prior history there.
You're talking out of both sides of your mouth. It can't be both unprofessional AND legal.
@@waynebryant1857 Yeah it can, just like an HR rep demeaning their employees. Or how about a lawyer showing up to court in shorts and a t-shirt. There are tons of scenarios that could be thought of as both unprofessional and legal.
