I have been putting tape on the back of actual vintage wallpaper, for the last two days. These are rolls from the forties, and they are beautiful but fragile and tear so easily. i intend on scanning and/or photographing them so I can print them to use in journals. I can put the original wallpaper on to coffee dyed papers, but the wallpapers are to fragile to be used on their own. I bought the rolls at a fundraiser rummage sale over twenty five years ago, only because I wanted the two rectangular Rubbermaid laundry baskets they came in. They said I had to take the whole kit and kaboodle, laundry baskets and the wallpapers. I didn't even look at the rolls until I got out to the car and put them in my trunk. I was not a paper crafting person at the time. As unrolled the paper to see the patterns hidden inside, low and behold, there were two pinup nude calendars inside one of the rolls. The kind men used to put up on the garage or work shop walls back in the forties and fifties. The car was parked in a huge pasture used for the sales parking lot. Hundreds of people attend this yearly sale. People were all over the place and I was so embarrassed!! I quickly rolled the wallpaper back up and slammed shut the trunk of the car, hoping no one saw the naked images or saw me looking at them. My late husband had a prominent business at the time and was well known. Sure wouldn't want it to get around town that his wife was in a parking lot looking at pinups. I can make jokes and laugh about it now!
Thank you for making your videos and creations. Iam enjoying your channel very much! This is proving to be a long cold winter here, and being inspired to create helps the chilly days go by.
I appreciate your comments very much! that is too funny about the pin up girls! I would have been embarrassed too! And thank you for letting me know about my Etsy link I will fix that! You made my day!
I routinely look at Ebay for vintage wallpaper sample books... it's hit or miss, but I have found a few really good ones...and every once in a while I find one at an antique store.
Thank you for showing us how you create all these beautiful ideas.
