I didn't take that subtle hint from the last video to invest in more servos as seriously as it is now clear that I should have! I've got a couple more on the way. What I did do was hook up a red and yellow LED (never green, that's for special occasions!) and brighten and dim them along the X and Y axes. Then I got the idea to hook up an RGB LED to play with blending red and green similarly. I thought about connecting the blue line up to the switch but haven't spent the mental capital to figure out how to handle the pull up resistor function yet.

Indigo !!! Thanks Paul for a great series. I’m a 76 year old retired UK citizen who used to be in IT in yesteryear. I have to confess that the toggle switch logic tested my brain to exhaustion but I think I got there in the end. As a keen aero modeller I’m looking forward to the next servo challenge. Thanks for series Paul.

indigo is the bestest boy! So I'm a little late to the party but I've been following along so far. Have to say you are a really good teacher. From getting concepts across to informing on why and what is the cause and effect of each aspect of the different components. Thank you for all these videos on so many different systems. And still putting out new content. I have a friend who got your kit and showed it to me. I had mine ordered the next paycheck, lol. So we've been taking this class together. Been a long time since I've actually put some effort into learning something new. So again thank you, so, so much!! keep up the great work in all you're into! Cheers!

    Greetings Paul,
Code word is Indigo. I have been watching the entire series as a lecture. I already have the Elegoo kit and an appropriate "wall wart" power supply and will repeat the series doing the circuitry and coding since I learn better taking notes in a lecture and then doing the labs later. I have been an electronics hobbyist since grade school and I am now 75 and still learning. Thank you for this excellent series! I will be applying some of this in building a CNC router and a CNC lathe.

Indigo! Always watch to the end. New to your tutorials. Only been watching for a couple of weeks. Trying to go in order. You are a good teacher and make most of the material interesting. The math is tough for me so I struggle through that. Last time I did any math more complicated than balancing the check book was high school algebra 55 years ago. But I plan on sticking with it and then move on to build the robot car in your next series. Thanks for teaching. God bless.

Wrote the program tested it and it worked. then watch you do it. and changed the switch to HIGH not LOW. then i hooked up the servo and wrote te program to move the servo in X. switched X to Y and did the same thing( copy paste) to move Y. downloaded the program and BOOOOOM!!!. then watched the video till the end, the homework was already done. Great stuff! (Indigo, gogogogo !)

"INDIGO" This tutorial is absolutely fantastic! The clarity and simplicity with which each concept is explained make it incredibly easy to follow, even for beginners. The hands-on approach, coupled with real-life examples, is a great way to not only understand the theory but also see how it applies in practice. I really appreciate how the video takes the time to break down each component, from understanding the code to setting up the hardware.
The explanations about using the Servo library and connecting it with sensors like the photoresistor are particularly useful. For someone like me who is diving deeper into Arduino projects, this tutorial is a goldmine of practical knowledge. The troubleshooting tips provided are also extremely helpful, as they address common issues that learners might face.
It’s evident that a lot of thought and effort went into creating this content, and it’s genuinely inspiring to see such quality educational material freely available. I’ve learned a lot and gained the confidence to experiment with similar projects on my own. Thank you for sharing your expertise and making learning so engaging and accessible. Looking forward to more tutorials like this one

Hi Paul, Love the video, I am 80 years young/retired attorney. I doing the course using an STM32 emulating the Arduino. FYI STM32 at the pins is 3.3V while Arduino is 5v. This caused a bit of problem w this lesson: was not reading the SwitchPin, and the JoyStick values were wrong and did not recognize the changes in value when i moved the JoyStick. To fix the Switch in pinMode, I need: pinMode (switchPin, INPUT_PULLUP); for the JoyStick to work instead of using 5V input i utilized the STM32's 3.3V. These revisions fixed all. Now I will move on to the Servo. If there are issue I will post.

INDIGO! I always watch the complete video. When I teach, I always make sure to give a piece of crucial information at the end of class to avoid any sneaking out! This was another great lesson! I'm building a teaching program for impoverished and at risk kids (STEM and STEAM based) to get them into engineering and science, hopefully aiming them towards careers in those fields. I was a professional musician for decades and did well for myself. I got into electronics and decided to give back to my community by working with kids. It has been the best gig I even had. I am passing your videos on to my students because the explanations are so good and you use math, which seems to be a lost art with some teachers. Again, you cannot truly create a unique project, going into uncharted realms, without some math skills in your toolbox! Thanks again! By the way, I've been doing your video projects each night when I get home from teaching. They have helped me as well!

    • @paulmcwhorter

Thank you for the comment. Really makes me happy to see others are using these lessons to help people. It has always perplexed me why these free lessons are not used in public schools. Schools will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for very lame 'STEM' curriculum which teaches nothing, yet I offer these lessons for free and they are not used by schools.

    • @hughpatterson1480
      @hughpatterson1480 3 роки тому

@@paulmcwhorter It seems like the schools want to sell STEM/STEAM programs to parents and students by showing them projects that light up and move and do exciting things. However, it appears that they are afraid to teach anything that requires too much work. I suspect it's a case of "wow, that video is great but having to do that much work might turn students off." Mastery always requires work. Otherwise we would all be masters,, I've given up trying to get into the head's of the people who run these programs. However, my students have to do the work and because I explain why they have to do it, the happily do the work!

I'm very excited about learning to build circuits.

    The Dog's name is Indigo.
Paul, a practical example of a joystick is either a HoveRound which I use ( I have Cerebal Palsy in my legs). I use Arm Crutches otherwise to walk.
I also fly a Kaptur Drone which can fly away to 400 feet radius, both from N, S, E, W directions as well as altitude.
A pressure sensor determines altitude. It has GPS, which "fences" it to a 400 feet keeping it in range of the transmitter.
If it's not very windy, I can fly the Drone back to me and land in the Palm of my hand. That is precision!
So two servo motors drive the front wheels of the HoveRound.
A good Drone need accurate propeller speed for smooth flight.

Another great lesson Paul! I did watch until the very end. I am excited to keep trying new circuits and code, so I skipped ahead only to be stopped dead in my tracks by the digitalWrite(sPin, HIGH); code that is in the void setup. I was feeling tired, so I had to wait until today to try again. First I decided to make a potentiometer circuit that lit 5 LEDs at different voltages, and then tried this lesson on the joy stick again. I was more patient and watched you write your code, and that's where I saw what was different between your code and mine. And then it worked!! I exclaimed "Indigo!!" and woke up my neighbors. Oops :) Too much iced coffee today. The repetition of starting the circuit and code from scratch is tremendous for my learning. I thought I would need to have a cheat sheet for the commands that you commonly use, but I am starting to memorize them, and it is an amazing feeling. Thank you!

Fortunately I didn’t panic about servos since I still have my RC car stuff from the 90s. It’s amazing sometimes how something can hang out in a toolbox of small parts from my teenage years, follow me around into my 40s and I still knew exactly where to look for it, wipe off the dust and put it to work.
Indigo would probably say that’d be a long time in dog years, lol.

Thanks for the 'most wonderful' tutorials!!! You are an amazing teacher, and I wish other UA-camrs would post such great videos. Really glad there are 36 more vids, and I always watch to the end. These videos are a great opportunity for me to learn Arduino before i learn C#. But i wish the recommended servos came in a GLORIOUS indigo color like the Elegoo ones...
(PS I am NOT carole this is my mom's account)

Indigo. I have watched the first 32 from start to finish and followed along with everything. I had no Arduino experience prior, but I am learning. I have a hard time knowing how to complete the assignments on my own. I will be picking up the reminder of this series in a couple weeks. Thank you for everything so far and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
