At a time when companies are remaking old analog synths, this project is one of most important things to be happening in the synthesizer sphere, but few know about it.
I just found out about it (via this video) and I am beyond stoked. I've got the Virus B,C,TI and Waldorf Q already installed and I can't wait to see what's next. The waldorf microwave would be excellent
Only one synth left to do : the orignal nord modular G1 , I still have it after 25 years and it's an amazing piece of gear , still sounds fresh to this day
@@WARDISWARD Looks like they are still planning to include Nord Modular, Micro Modular, Lead 2X and 3, Novation Nova and Supernova, Microkorg, MS2000 and the one I'm most excited for is the Waldorf Q. MicroQ is good but Q is way better imo.
i bought one when it had just hit the shops, my first 'this thing can do anything' synth. had it for years, this machine was inspiring, at some point i even started to recognize it in tracks from bands i really liked (NIN, VAC, VNV, feindflug) but at some point i thought i had grown tired and back then it had no editor and for some stupid reason i thought the DSI tetr4 would be a nice replacement so i sold it.... biggest mistake of my life, well ok 2nd biggest, no1 spot taken by insane ex gf that i let move in before she was an ex. anyways, regretted it every since. been hoping for years and years for a decent emulation and the wait is finally over. now to get into that discord thing... hope they have a paid test version like with the other ones for early access
@@statikskynl tbh I think emulation was always going to be the answer for a lot of digital synths because from what I've seen, they do break down in ways that are sometimes not practical to repair.
The Microwave XT's digital filters are still very unique, especially the WaveShapr filter, and their sound can't really be found anywhere else. I'm lucky to own a Microwave XTk, but its plastic knobs have crumbled and the base metal plate of the enclosure is rusting. So I'm extremely stoked to see this project come to fruition!
If you're in the US, Modular Addict has the knobs used on the MicroQ available. I replaced all of mine when they started crumbling with them, doesn't look too bad.
@@christbait Thanks for the info, but I'm in Europe (Germany). But I have a source for some knobs from Alps that fit. I just never seem to have the needed 70-80 € pocket money.
@@spotlight-kyd those are probably the same knobs haha.. Modular Addict carries the Albs knobs that Waldorf used on the MicroQ so I ended up replacing mine with them. You're correct though, it was not cheap, I think I ended up paying almost $100 including shipping myself.
The MW2 was my first ever synth and is still the one i miss the most since i went 100% VSTi. There is something about its timbre that is extremely unique. Love the Demo!
Great job! I hear those Astral Projection vibes here so clearly. Probably this Waldorf machine and its sounds are the reason why I choosed to join music production industry then.
Should be identical to your XT. If it's not, there is probably something wrong with your XT because the Motorola emulation is about as close to flawless as you can get! Just like the Viri and the Varva ARE the synths whose firmware is used in the apps, the Xenia IS a Microwave XT when used at the same sampling frequency.
@@mosspa1 my XT's work perfectly. D/A (and A/D in DAW) introduces very slight differences. Stunning software. I look forward to being able to try it and stress it on extreme modulations.
Hi everyone, first of all congratulations to the team in charge of this project, I congratulate you. And I can't wait to have access to your fabulous work. On the other hand, I have the entire sysex collection from audio fabrik and much more. I remain at your disposal to give you these syxex or midi files in order to enrich the number of presets in the Roms, do not hesitate to contact me, well done again, peace😋
@@MACRONOne I have the sound set they were using in the video along with an XT I''ve had for 25 years almost. It does sound a little 'clean' to me as well, but I've also owned and highly used mine for close to 25 years now, and I do run it through a console most days. I'm waiting until it's available so I can load my own patches I've been playing for 20+ years before I pass judgement. It sounds pretty damn good though.
I have compiled the plugin from the git repo and tested it with my own patches and they sound exactly the same. Of course the DA converters are not the same in my audio interface as in the microwave, but the influence seems minimal. DSP CPU usage still seems a bit unpredictable, so I had few clicks here and there.
@@nomisneti I'm on Manjaro Linux. I used the the provided bash script 'build_linx.sh' to build, which I slightly edited to disable compilation of Vavra (-Dgearmulator_SYNTH_VAVRA=OFF), since that gave me errors and I also disabled building .deb and .rpm packages, since I don't need those.
CHILLS FROM THE CHOIR
Me too there is something about it i can't explain

Finally, after 25 years, a replacement for my Terratec Waldorf Microwave PC! I love you guys!
This is beyond incredible!!! Thank you guys for all your work!❤
I'm just a vst pirate who stumbled upon this and immediately was blown away by the sound quality!
Great job on the xenia score 👏
yeah tonepusher put me on to it awhile ago
This is just UNBELIEVABLE!! Thank you so mucho! Going to have to donate, this is just a DREAM. 🎹🎶💰

U can get replacement knobs from the Waldorf website, or just email them, they r awesome
sounds extremely Waldorf..
and it is
yeah it is running the same rom from the XT so its absolutely identical
Still got my old Black XT! Great bit of kit - nothing quite sounds like it.

This is crazy awesome! Thank you so much, these digital classics are getting hard to find and old.
this is amazing the sounds are too great,
Another amazing demo, thank you
I was about to buy a vintage XT and heard about Xenia just in time. Loving OsTirus and Vavra and this will be epic as well.
I can't wait to compare this to my Microwave XT.
I can not wait for this one!!
so cool - could never afford one back then
They still aren't really the most affordable now lol. What a great era we live in
Looking forward to it. Been enjoying Vavra so much. I love how the LCD shows exactly what the hardware does!
Guys, you're unbelievable!
Do you guys have a release date planned? Sounds great!
thanks to you guys, i wont have to spend $1000 on this synth for sample research!
❤❤❤Your Demo sounds incredible! ❤❤❤
Despite being so harsh digital sound it does have so much soul it just sends you to a deep travel.I had blofeld but blofeld never had that soul thing
This nails the Microwave XT. I might have to sell mine now.
you will reget it one day
Can't wait to get this!
Killer demo!!
incredible work here
Very good job! Bravo!!
Great musical examples
Bravo!!! Bravo!!!
Impresionante!! Tienes idea para cuando esté listo??
GREAT !! I did sell my XTK because of this. Well done !!!

Its not close to an xt, Its literally identical, since it is running the exact same code that is in your hardware xt. 😉

Can´t wait :)

Where to put the .bin and .mid files for mac AU .component? I don't see any presets once the plugin is loaded.
where can i find these presets?

I can't find some of these presets, like the Dieing Robots - that one is cool. Where is that found?
These sound incredible, the question is where is the developer's website, and are any of these available today for public?
sounds great
May be cool another emulation than Waldorf... Novation? Nord? Ensoniq?
Jean Michael Jarre, cool.
Sounds very much like an XT. Can you load up sysex banks?
It sounds cleaner than the original. No aliasing? I have the original.
