My mom after she boils it for 3 or so hours until you can put a fork in it easily then she takes it out puts mustard and brown sugar on it bakes it in the oven on 350 for around 10 min. She steams a pot of potatoes carotts and cabbage. Smother the vegetables with butter salt n pepper. I ate four plates today. Around a pound and a half of corned beef I musta ate. Awesome!

Looked good. I’m making mine even lazier tomorrow. I’m just putting my corned beef in the slow cooker on low for 8 hours. No liquid, no seasoning (except for the little pack of seasoning that came with the corned beef). I find the cheaper cut of corned beef the better. I’ve cooked it this way the last three or four years and it always comes out tender and delicious. I either make some Fried Irish cabbage or put it between some marble rye with a bit of mustard.

Nothing like Lipton onion soup mix and some Swanson chicken broth with like 10,000 grams of sodium. Yummy.

@bebechen132 Yes. or you can use dr. pepper or coke or non alcoholic beer. Or root beer. If you use a soda then don't use the brown sugar.

You can buy Corned beef in cans it is nice in sandwichs with plough mans pickle on it. I also eat it in a salad. The best canned corned beef comes from Argentina. When you cook corned beef with cabbage you should serve it with new pototoes. I would also include peas and boiled carrots.

I've never added salt to corned beef. It's pickled in a salt brine for 2 weeks. I'm surprised it didn't get over salted with the onion soup. It does look yummy. I'm jealous of your butcher lmao!

Little tip on the P90X. It comes with a meal plan. FOLLOW IT. That's what its for. You don't need to follow it exactly 100%, but you really have to stricten your meals everyday in order to get results because eating a lot of garbage meals and using P90X won't get you anywhere. I know a lot of people who threw out the meal plan, ate what they normally ate thinking the P90X was just a daily cardio workout, and got very little results.

Hey, @jakatak69, did you know that the whole "corned beef and cabbage" thing is more of an American concept? The Irish immigrants in America used the corned beef to replace boiled bacon. The source for their boiled bacon replacement? Jewish owned delicatessens in NYC.

I'm going to make this today. My slow cooker is way in the back of my cupboard and I've only used it once so I don't remember if it has a temperature dial.....If so, what do you set it on? Secondly, I've made corned beef on the stovetop and there is always a kind of scum (for lack of better word) that you skim off. I didn't notice this on your's. Was it there and you skimmed it off? Or does the slowcooker somehow stop this from happening? Thanks Jack...I'm off to buy the ingredients!

@PhoenxFrozt Corned beef is usually made from the beef brisket and soaked in a brine to accomplish the 'Corning' process. I think flank steak has a similar texture but they're pretty small. Alton Brown shows the process of making a corned beef at home, I've seen that Good Eats episode here on YT. Good luck.
