I use pellet feed, which works fine with just the reducer with no spillage. But, you will need that 2” pipe as you said if you’re just using scratch feed. Also, as you know these pipe feeders will get moisture in them and eventually will stop up the gravity feed and I’ve found I personally like just the reducer without the 2” pipe addition for ease of cleaning. Because these feeders set up like concrete. I hope this helps!!
If there's food my chickens eat. Is this normal? I have a simular feeder and after filling it was good for 3 days. The same number of chickens but larger. Now they eat all they can get.
@@OneBodyFishing I'm going to make a chicken feeder soon. It will be a little different, but close to the way you made your feeder. Most likely I will make video and post it on UA-cam so you can see it. Feel free to subscribe to my channel. I like your video, you explained yourself very well 👍
Yes, I agree; the two inch reducer would be better to save on feed, but we get so much moisture and humidity here that I have to unstop the feeder at least twice a year without the reducer being added. So, I’m glad I didn’t install it, because that chicken feed sets up like concrete when it gets damp.
4” pipe, at whatever height will work for application 4” Oatey Gripper plug 4” T with street L 3”-2” reducer, slides down into 4” pipe 4” 45 degree at top Glue 4” test cap Also, if you’re using scratch feed you will need about a 2” piece of 2” to glue into the bottom of the reduce to prevent spillage. It can be, depending on the height (head room for feeder) in which you have room to make the overall length. For me, I had to make two of these for 12 chickens. This lasts me 5-7 days
@@kenwoods472 7:50 need I say more. As the chickens take the food It would continue to have feed on the floor because the resistance would no longer be there. .I’m sure he changed his design by now.

@@victorm7274 Oh I gotcha. So you mean as the level gets lower and lower it would start to trickle out. I see other comments now about adding a 2" piece to fix it.
@@kenwoods472 exactly. I guess since he didn’t show his chicken eating the “ resistance “. To me it seem like common sense. But I guess if he had left a bit of a lip. It might have worked.
Nice job!
Thanks!
Great idea.
Thank you!
Love this! Thanks so much
You’re very welcome! Thanks for following the channel..
Good job sir, God bless you as well!
Thank you!
All that spillage is why we put the 2” pipe on end of reducer.

I’m not sure if I understand your question?? Are you asking if there is a particular kind of food I use??
@@OneBodyFishing they eat all they see
Yes, this is Normal!! 😃
Chickens are pigs with feathers. They will eat/forage most of the day.
So an automatic feeder will not work as a method to leave the chickens overnight? They will either eat too much or have none left.
🙂 A good effort. God Bless.
Thanks Rob, hope to see ya back!!

That’s why you put the extended 2” pc at the bottom. Lowers the food level. Because they will shake their head when they eat.

How long is the 2" extension?
It’s not long at all. I believe it actually is 2” in length as well.
Now days that’s a $80.00 chicken feeder
I know a lot cheaper way it’s called a bucket
Nice, I’d like to see what you’re talking about! Do you have a link or pic?

A bucket??? Then 200 little birds eat chickenfood too. And believe me, they can find enough food elsewhere
@@inaflorusse8281 not if you have your chicken coup enclosed which is the only way to do it correctly anyway 😂😂😂
Don’t they crap all in the bucket?

You cut it upside down at the exit.
No, it’s right side up. Are you talking about the rain hood at the bottom?

No offense but this looked like an epic failure
Why would that be a failure? Just curious.
