    My solution is gym foam mat (high density). 2 cm thick, in narrow ventilation window. Its friction keep it in place and duct bracket attached by screws to it. Foam is good heat and noise insulator.

    Thinking that crack may be fixed using acrylic ie crazy glue. I am doing similar job and have opted to use hardboard for hose connection area, about 18” high and then acrylic above that. Less messing with fussy / fragile acrylic.

    I did the same thing last year. I had three to do. Works great EXCEPT, I used gorilla tape to attach to window and it doesn’t hold permanently. I tried regular duct tape over the gorilla tape. Worked more but still falls off. The weight of the plexi plus the pull of the AC hose, peels it over time. I may have to screw clips into the frame or use expandable rods to hold it in place and take the pressure off of the tape.

    it's not easy to cut Acrylic at all, i wish i had seen your video few weeks ago, i tried this for my portable aircon and after wasting 3 sheets of Acrylic and hours of work i just gave up did it with insolation board instead. i found out if you use a jigsaw blade with very very fine tooth, it can cut Acrylic much better but looks like the key is to secure the sheet which i just learnt from your video 😀
    thank you for sharing your experience 🙏

      Hi there, I used plastic mirror brackets. Just directly to the window frame, therefore can be removed in the fall. At 6 min 40 sec into the video you can see it. Usually found at any hardware store. Here's a link to a pic through Amazon: images.app.goo.gl/UZAbwZvdcCdwQq9p6

    • @babrsbigideas

  • @wgseagal
    @wgseagal 2 роки тому

    You know you can bring that down to your local hardware store Lowe's home Depot and they'll cut it for you or they'll cut it when you buy it to the right measurement that you need

    • @babrsbigideas
      @babrsbigideas  2 роки тому

      The closest one near me doesn't. The video was recorded and produced when Covid first came to be 2 years ago. During that time plexiglass was hard to come by and businesses that worked with it were extremely busy making "spittle guards"and barriers. They may not be as busy now though :)

    Polycarbonate sheet won't crack. Most window companies will cut exact dimensions for your window.

    • @babrsbigideas
      @babrsbigideas  2 роки тому

      I did try to have a company make one for me, unfortunately this was at the start of Covid-19 and they were wwaayyy too busy making "spittle guards". The sheet I found and used was already damaged which is why I got a deal on it as I mentioned at the beginning of the video. That was also a time where getting any of this material was almost impossible and very expensive, especially on Vancouver Island. This particular material did crack as shown.
