I was very emotional watching and listening to you. I know how much Pastor's listen...how much they try to comfort and care for us. I remember your story of loss when I first found you, accidentally! My husband Russ has been gone 5 yrs as I've expressed before, and yes, I feel, see and hear him every day. Yes the scars have developed, but they continue not to be able to prevent my tears. John and Russ sound the same...always the positive, always with the ability to make us feel secure, loved and strong. I too can hear Russ saying, "That's my Gail!" I got butterflies in my tummy when he'd drive up in the driveway after his work even after 36 years. I love that you said it'll be our turn someday to knock and hear we are home. You are truly someone I listen to, admire and have come to love as you share your ministry and your life. Hold on tight and look up tonight Pastor...I'll be doing the same. ❤

The smell of an orange being peeled! ❤ My mother would cut the orange in half, then my brother and I would put a peppermint stick in our halves. My mother also used to cut an apple in half, then use a spoon to scoop the flesh out. She would feed it to me, spoonful by spoonful, as we sat by our fireplace in the winter. She was never in a hurry. We simply sat in the moment, together. I think she enjoyed it as much as I did. Simple moments that I feel in my heart's memory even 60 years later. Funny how your peeling that orange sparked that sensory and emotional memory for me. It has nothing to do with your subject...but the loss of my mother when I was only 25 altered the fabric of my being. Time definitely has helped me learn to live with the loss. My prayers are with you in your time of remembering.
What a beautiful memory of simply sitting together and your mother never rushing about. For some reason, I wanted to keep the peeling of the orange in the video. Today is our 36th anniversary. A week ago yesterday my 26 year old niece died of a drug reaction. Tomorrow my youngest son gets married. Life if full of love, pain and joy.

Such profound and wise thoughts! I’ve been thinking about all you said and what Rose Kennedy said about losses creating scars on the heart. I have a different interpretation of that because of my own life experience. As a bladder cancer survivor, “scarring” (in my case of my bladder through multiple surgeries and treatments) means making something smaller, less than it was before - kind of dead. Now I realize she wasn’t talking about the physical organ of the heart, but the figurative expression. I would prefer to think that instead of the heart scarring (becoming smaller), the heart expands and in that expansion it wraps around the hurt, cradling and comforting the hurt. And that gentle nurturing becomes, in time, wisdom that brings its own kind of peace. ❤

Today is our 36th anniversary. A week ago yesterday my 26 year old niece died of a drug reaction. Tomorrow my youngest son gets married. Life if full of love, pain and joy.

My old neighbor who was killed in Vietnam. I know it was around this time of the year even though I was only nine or ten. He was like a real life James Dean. I like that dress you were wearing 😊 but I missed your dog. At least I saw a cow. Thank you, hope to see you soon 💛

Such profound and wise thoughts! I’ve been thinking about all you said and what Rose Kennedy said about losses creating scars on the heart. I have a different interpretation of that because of my own life experience. As a bladder cancer survivor, “scarring” (in my case of my bladder through multiple surgeries and treatments) means making something smaller, less than it was before - kind of dead. Now I realize she wasn’t talking about the physical organ of the heart, but the figurative expression. I would prefer to think that instead of the heart scarring (becoming smaller), the heart expands and in that expansion it wraps around the hurt, cradling and comforting the hurt. And that gentle nurturing becomes, in time, wisdom that brings its own kind of peace. ❤

I believe God does use us whether we realize it or not to bless the very places we have been brought to. @@oldstonewellfarm being a grandmother I've had a wonderful life with children, but when Jesus opens the door of heaven to me, I know my five-year-old brother Timmy will be standing next to HIM to greet me. my 15 year old self has never forgotten that day I re-live each year.... May 15., 1965......my branch was broken but i keep that branch in my soul forever..... a gentle reminder of HIS LOVE FOR US .....
