Thanks Nev, Hitchcocks only recently started selling the kits. It’s strange, I didn’t think I’d miss having a rev counter on the bike and now I would f want to be without it. Looking like I’m going to be fitting one to my Scram 😁👍🏻
Great video, thanks for posting this 👍 I ordered a rev counter for my Shotgun 650, and the instructions are pretty sparse, I think they assume previous experience. Very well done - easy to understand, saved me a LOT of headache, I'm sure.

Thanks Peter, I’ve never been told I have neat hands before (thank you), they weren’t particularly neat when I was ‘on the tools’ back in the day when we didn’t used to wear gloves so a smattering of cuts, grazes and dirty finger nails were the order of the day. I still struggle to work wearing gloves on the odd occasion when I do a bit of proper work! 😂 I highly recommend getting one, I think they enhance the look of the Hunter and now it reads correctly I think it will be really useful. Not sure what the oblong window you’re referring to, is it the oblong on the tacho? Great to hear your enjoyed the video and thanks as always for the encouragement. 😁👍🏻
@@MerciaMotoon the tachometer dial there's an oblong aperture or window above the 'Daytona' writing just below the centre of the unit. It doesn't seem to be displaying anything. Is it a numerical readout of revs or perhaps a time readout?
@@Lanes-Explorer5733 ah, thought that was what you were referring to. Best described as the settings window, the display is pretty small and the LCD display is quite faint. It shows the setting values i.e. the pulses per revolution and the rpm settings you want to set for changing gear e.g. 3000rpm in my case. When not in settings mode, it displays battery voltage and the maximum RPM value recorded. Hope that explains 👍🏻😁

Hello and thank you for the message. If you do a quick search on motorcycle tacho a lot of results are available, including some sold on Amazon. Should be pretty straightforward to remove the tripper and install a tachometer on its place. Hope this helps 👍🏻

It looks like this style of Tacho could be fitted to any bike using the long stand wire wrapped around the ht plug lead, and giving the instrument a simple 12v feed. It seems it is around £110 or so though as a stand alone item. Very nice fitting instruction video Sir.
Thank you for watching and commenting. Having now installed one, I agree it would be very straightforward to install a generic tacho. I think for some the benefit of the Hitchcocks tacho kit is the wiring accessories c/w plug that fits that auxiliary 12v yet still retains the plug for other accessories, the coil take off wire and the bespoke mountain bracket. I’m going to fit a generic tacho to my Scram and make my own bespoke mounting bracket 👍🏻🙂

I would love to see Hitchcocks make this kit for the Scram 411. I would remove the tripper on my 2023 and replace with this, which would be much more useful.
I might try and fit one to my Scram in front of the Speedo and the tripper. But rather than buying the kit from Hitchcocks I may buy a stand alone tacho (comes with bracket) but I would make my own bespoke bracket. The only thing I would need to ascertain is how to take the pulse from the coil but I’m confident that would be an easy solution. The tacho’s only use 3 wires 12v +ve and -ve (pick up at the auxiliary connection in the headlamp) and the pulse wire from the coil. If I do fit one, I’ll make a how to video. It also displays the settings menu for pulses per revolution and gear change indicator settings. Additionally it displays the colour of the rev counter display, orange, white, or blue. Hello, the yellow cable that the wire from the coil connects to is the yellow wire from the tachometer which will have been fed through into the headlamp ready. Hope this answers your question? 👍🏻
Afternoon John, thank you for war hing and commenting. Hitchcocks state it will fit the Meteor 350 and the Hunter. I suspect this is more to do with the bracket provided as part of the kit rather than the tacho itself. I think (but could be wrong) that the Daytona tacho will fit most models of bike, it’s the wiring accessories and bracketry that the Hitchcocks kits contain that are model specific. The Sat Nav bracket is a bog standard RAM mount, lots available on Amazon, let me know if you need a link. Hope i’ve answered your questions? 👍🏻cheers 🙂

Hello, I assume your Hunter already has the speedometer fitted? If you are just going to add the tachometer, all of the wiring you need is included in the kit supplied by Hitchcocks. Hope this helps? 👍🏻

Will the warranty be void if the tachometer is installed on hunter 350? I want to install tachometer on hunter but After doing all of this I am bit worried about warranty.. 😐😷

Doing any modifications here can led to void warranty😂 depends upon dealerships, here some allows to do certain modifications and are okay with it and some just say doing this can void warranty.. so I will look up to it. Hello, the yellow cable that the wire from the coil connects to is the yellow wire from the tachometer which will have been fed through into the headlamp ready. Hope this answers your question? 👍🏻

Afternoon John, thank you for war hing and commenting. Hitchcocks state it will fit the Meteor 350 and the Hunter. I suspect this is more to do with the bracket provided as part of the kit rather than the tacho itself. I think (but could be wrong) that the Daytona tacho will fit most models of bike, it’s the wiring accessories and bracketry that the Hitchcocks kits contain that are model specific. The Sat Nav bracket is a bog standard RAM mount, lots available on Amazon, let me know if you need a link. Hope i’ve answered your questions? 👍🏻cheers 🙂

Hello, I assume your Hunter already has the speedometer fitted? If you are just going to add the tachometer, all of the wiring you need is included in the kit supplied by Hitchcocks. Hope this helps? 👍🏻

@@harry3370 ah I see, I wouldn’t imagine there would need to be to many mods for a combine unit, other than the wire required to pick up the pulse from the coil 👍🏻

Will the warranty be void if the tachometer is installed on hunter 350? I want to install tachometer on hunter but After doing all of this I am bit worried about warranty.. 😐😷
Hello, good question. Honest answer is I don’t know, but I doubt it would. Might be worth speaking to your dealer or RE directly if you’re concerned 👍🏻
@@MerciaMoto yes.. I live in India and here warranty is a big concern. Doing any modifications here can led to void warranty😂 depends upon dealerships, here some allows to do certain modifications and are okay with it and some just say doing this can void warranty.. so I will look up to it.
