      I think the choice should have much more to do with your personal preferences and goals than anything else, so I can't help you with that. However, I think doing at least ENCOR makes more sense than any other option if you ignore your personal preferences. Then, re-evaluate from there.

    Hello Wendell. How long does it usually take you to write a chapter? I'm just curious. Thanks.

    • @networkupskill
      @networkupskill  6 місяців тому +2

      Well, it's all over the place, based on a bunch of factors. Two examples that might help. If I know a topic, and it's time to write, and it's text only (which isn't realistic, but as an example), 20-page chapter in four hours. But nothing I write is all text. EG 1-1.5 pages of CLI output spread across 3-4 examples might take a few hours to setup and confirm it fits the sequence I'm trying to create. So... for ALL work - writing, editing, more editing, about an hour cumulative per page of finished product. So... 20-page chapter, 20 hours. But it's difficult to predict, even doing it close to 30 years.

    • @networkupskill
      @networkupskill  Місяць тому +1

      Hey Jonathan,
      For sure. How about right now? :-)
      Yeah, they've been out for a bit now. If you start here: www.certskills.com/products, you'll see links to the books at Cisco Press and at Amazon US. At Cisco Press, you can buy:
      - Print only
      - Premium eBook only
      - both (for less $ than buying separately)
      Then, at Amazon, you can buy the Kindle edition.
      Note that the publisher's premium edition includes many more practice questions in addition to three types of eBooks. See ua-cam.com/video/Ew2O-3ID40c/v-deo.html for more about the exams with the Premium Edition Library.
      Feel free to follow up if it's unclear!

      @@networkupskill I really appreciate this kind of responses to the community.
      However, either I'm computer illiterate or the Kindle version is not available on Amazon. I see options to purchase the paperback version of "CCNA 200-301 Official Cert Guide Library 2nd Edition" but there is no option that appears to purchase the Kindle version. When I search the Kindle store I do find "CCNA 200-301 Official Cert Guide Library 1st Edition, Kindle Edition" (this product does not have the same book cover as 2nd Edition)
      I realize I can always purchase the eBook version through Cisco Press, but I do have a bias appreciation for the Kindle features that allows for easy study. Maybe I'm over looking Amazon's interface. Could you provide a more direct link to Official Cert Guide Library 2nd Edition?
      Much appreciation!

      Hey Jonathan,

      First - thanks for your follow-up!
      Second... we're 2 for 3 on the Kindle edition having troubles at Amazon with this release. (Volume 1 showed up and disappeared after some work.)
      So, since you want the Amazon Kindle in particular, and the CCNA Library version (makes sense, save money), let me inform the publisher, get them working on it. I'll circle back and let you know. If you have time to give it a few weeks - it may take that to get the gears aligned.
      Thanks again,

      My blog and video this Wednesday discusses those questions in some detail. However, if you're pretty far along, I think you can easily pass w/ V1.0 before August 19th. You have options!
      Wednesday, I'll post (blog and video) about your options. Topping off the final touches on those today (Tuesday). Short version: you can use the V1.0 books to prep for V1.1 with a little guidance, and I'll help with the guidance.
      However... if it's literally just a few days ago, and you wanted to, you could return the books. The new editions will be out in the June/July timeframe. If that worked for you. The publisher's web pages for the books should be live Wednesday April 24th, and those list their current estimated in-stock dates. I think that'll be June 2nd for Vol 1... so about six weeks to wait if you're in the US.
      Hope this helps...

    • @networkupskill
      @networkupskill  5 місяців тому

      Hi Natalia,
      Well, that really depends on you and your comfort level. Here are a few facts.
      You won't have access to the new content in the new books unless you get the new books. However, it's only a little new content, and you can manage to learn it without buying new books.
      These kinds of questions arise at every new exam release, so I anticipated them, and wrote and produced videos about it. In particular, check out this video: ua-cam.com/video/V73V_dlgdto/v-deo.htmlsi=xESnGIcnylc-Sf66 . It talks about the options, and talks about how I will help you learn the new exam topic content if you have the previous edition and don't want to spend on the new.
      That said... if you want to return the old books and buy the new, it's not a long wait this time. The Volume 1 book is in-stock in the US June 2nd. So, just a month away.
      Hope this helps...
      Wendell

      @networkupskill  3 місяці тому

      Volumes 1 and 2 are now in-stock at the publisher's warehouse, so if you bought from their US store, they're filling those orders now. The CCNA Library is in-stock July 25th (that's the latest estimate).
      If you ordered from someone else, FYI, it takes time for the books to get distributed. EG, it takes a couple of weeks for the publisher to send them to Amazon US and then for Amazon to begin filling those orders. For international, it's more complex, with some shipped from the US to other places, and in other cases, a local printer prints in another country and then distributes to booksellers.
      The Premium Edition eBooks (which you purchase from the publisher) are available now (Vol 1 and Vol 2 separately), with the CCNA library available (planned) July 25.
      Hope this helps!!

    Hi Wendell, I am currently going through your book, only on chapter 6 and wanted to know if chapters 6, 7 and 8 are going to have any major changes? I was also wondering are they going release a new version of the person lab simulator for purchase?

    • @networkupskill
      @networkupskill  6 місяців тому +1

      Hi,
      1) Chapters 4 and 6 in the new Volume 1 each have a small bit on how to access switches and routers from a web browser. But it's small. The next major update per exam topics comes in chapter 9 and 10, with updates for all the new STP features. I did update the chapter 7 auto-negotiation topic, wouldn't call it major.
      2) You'd have to ask the folks at Pearson/Cisco Press, but I believe (believe, not know) that they're not updating it, given the relative lack of changes that impact the CLI. But do ask them...
