Me being a Norwegian born in 1966, I have never heard of this scifi series. Now I'm an hour in to it, and it looks to be an awesome story. So excited to watch until the end. Thanks a lot, for making this available for us to enjoy.👌
Enjoyment isn't what I feel, however I really do appreciate watching this. If anything it truly saddens me, bc the message is ignored. Many have tried, to no avail, all in vain. Look at the Amazon Forrest which is considered just one of our most sacred Forrest/jungles that help our Earth their own Nation & the U.N. do nothing. No one really cares enough, it truly does "take a village" metaphorically to make a difference. Oh well, again may Padre God help us all. 🙏
Be prepared for some unique twists and turns, as the various subplots develop to an intriguing conclusion. It's largely unbelievable, but hey, in this insane world we need some good escapism.
I watched this aged 14 in 1980 with my parents and gran at home in Scotland. They're gone now, obviously, but it's a nice memory of simpler, happier times.
You should have read the book instead of only watching the film adaption. There are many more stories and chapters (like one dealing with Edgar Allan Poe's stories), which are not part of the film.
I watched this on holiday by the sea when I was 15 with my dad and brother. Dad's gone but I still remember this movie/TV series. It made the holiday more enjoyable watching this and playing cards together.

Thank you, I’ve wanted to rewatch this for years. I was very young when it first aired, the only thing I could remember was the ending, looking into the water.
I read the book before seeing this show years ago. Now I watch it and all the stupid, selfish people portrayed remind me people generally aren’t rational or considerate. I’ve learned that well in the years since.

I read this classic as a youngster of 10, and I never forgot the awe I experienced when reaching the final reveal of the martians. Such a profound romance of spirit that touches me deeply to this day. For me the hallmark of Bradbury’s was his sweeping, romantic lyricism.

I read the book in high school, about 50 years ago. Ray Bradbury was a great science fiction writer whose real life predictions about the future were amazingly accurate. The Martian Chronicles were very thoughtfully written and I enjoy this mini series very much.
This was an "event" tv series when it was 1st shown in the UK. Think early evening Saturday nights on the BBC, i was about 11 years old at the time and loved it. It was a big thing because back then, bona fide movie stars rarely appeared on TV shows, so Rock Hudson being the lead was a big deal.
Although I particularly liked the book much more, I must say that these "Martian Chronicles" are very well done and manage to preserve the essence of the message that Bradbury wanted to bequeath us in his literary work. "Martian Chronicles" is much more than the story about colonization of a planet, is a set of philosophical teachings much closer to our "day to day" than to the first... For those who have just discovered this literary gem through this film, I hope that it fascinates and dazzles you as it did for me quite some time ago when, as a young man of seventeen, I had the enormous pleasure of reading it for the first time.
Enjoyed this so much, many thx for uploading!!! I think, "Spender" (well acted by Bernie Casey RIP) was my favorite character. He had it right from the beginning, I think a lot of us would feel the same way he did, I know I would. Too bad he was written off as a murderer, he could have added so much to the story. Very satisfying to see him knock Biggs into the canal. Some parts did seem fragmented but I never read the book, guess I'll have to now.
Saw this when it first aired when I was kid. I'd read the book the summer before and couldn't wait to see it. Two things that always stuck with me were the open title music and the scene at the end when Rock Hudson meets the Martian and they discuss the meaning of life. Simple, understated dialog that communicated so much in such a short scene. No flashy effects, no CGI overload, no blaring music. Just two completely disparate characters meeting, finding common ground, and both going away a little wiser for their encounter.
Wow!! I remember this coming on back in 1980. What an amazing event. The good ole days. Who recognizes and remembers the guy from the 2nd expedition? Nicholas Hammond. He was Peter Parker/Spiderman from the live action tv series back in the late seventies. These stories are just brilliant and the subject matter, timeless.
Saludos y gracias nuevamente.
I used to have the book; The Martian 👽 Chronicles from my cousin who lives in Illinois.I think,I must’ve gotten it as a graduation 👩🎓 gift 🎁 when I was a Senior in High School?I recognize the movie 🎥 stars that we have had in those days. The 1980”s were the start of an amazing decade!😊😊😊😊
I thought the same, bc I was so young, just 22 in 1980. However, it sadly was a continuation of how deceived we were in how Society & the world just ignored series & movies like this that Mankind must take care of our own universally instead of looking for other planets to repeat the same exact mistakes n with quicker actions via Technology. 😢
R.I.P. Commissioner McMillan. "Shedding their human forms as nightmares fade into a new dawn." -the yearnful poetry of Bradbury. e.g: 'The Fog Horn', 'Embroidery'.
It was my first Sci-Fi book. I read it when I was a kid (late 70s). When it came out on TV, our set was still a B&W one! So, even after watching the show a few times since then, in my memory, it is still a B&W show! Funny how our brain works. I remember being terrified when the Martian puts on his mask (I was 11) and also amused when I saw his weapon which, for me, looked like an umbrella! Great story, much deeper than it looks.
In my hometown in Mexico this was aired at 9 pm on Sundays...I used to watch it...mesmerized at the great story and characters...it is 1982 and I am 7 years old again if I close my eyes listening to this miniseries...
Apparently, when Bradbury wrote the book by 1950, scientists thought there was vegetation on Mars and it had a breathable atmosphere. By the time this miniseries came out, the Viking expeditions (mid 70s) had concluded it was not breathable.

I remember seeing this in High School 🏫 in 1979.I’ve never read the book 📕 by Ray Bradbury, though.I think,I’ve heard of it?I’ve heard,he was a good science 🧬 fiction writer, too!
One of the best things a high school teacher could do was make us read this book when we were 14 years old in 1995, which captivated me and I finished reading it in just 5 days. I didn't know there was a series of this book. Personally, I would have liked to see the elimination, I think, of the real third expedition, when they are all considered crazy and the Martian himself commits suicide believing he is contaminated by human madness. Furthermore, if I remember correctly, Genevieve Selsior was not a sensual and exciting woman (in the book, that's how Driscoll imagined her because of her nice voice) but a very fat woman, who when he found her was eating cakes and candies and her mouth was all dirty with chocolate, and he flees in terror. I seem to remember that those lines ended with something like "And just in case, Driscoll never answers a phone again that rings alone in the city" hahaha!!! Later, some long shots that contribute nothing could have lasted less, but in general, the mini series is supported by the messages it gives, for which neither a AAA production nor millions of dollars in special effects are needed. I don't deny that it would be nice to see it like that, but this is enough. Thank you and greetings!!!
Great series, read the book at school "The Silver locusts", this is classic Ray Bradbury. Not an easy TV series to acquire, 45 years on, I still love it. Maybe I could also look up Rock Hudson in World war 3 (1980). Both series ended the same way.
I was a small child when I saw a small portion of a chapter on tv but I did not paid much attention. Some one changed the channel. A few days ago Found this And Im about to watch the full video. Thanks.
I think this was shown in Britain in 1984. I watched it as a young teenager. At the time I thought it came out of the distant past, featuring as it did forgotten stars like Rock Hunter, whom I had seen in the movies from the early sixties my mother watched, or Darren McGavin, who was in Kolchak, the Night Stalker, another period piece of extreme antiquity. From the vantage point of over forty years later, I see how recent they had been when I was first exposed to them. What a magnificent program this was. I have never forgotten it.
I was 9 when this aired, and remember bits. The kid in me is excited to watch this all again. The adult me however was very concerned at the collection of spikes kept at the bottom of the stairs in the Martians home.

Thank you Edu for the great memories of this underestimated classics. I also liked the remedial Spanish lesson from subtitles... always useful. Love your channel!
Bernadette Peters isn't the kind of person who thinks of others as 'below her', she's an actual human being.
It was nice to see this miniseries again. Thanks for sharing.
Saludos 🙋♂️
Great to see the full series available again....a real Classic with a lot of wisdom!
It's available on bluray.
Rock Hudson's Wisdom...😂😂😂.... Disgusting Creep.
Such a wonderful film. I hope more people watch and recognize the true value. Thank you for this!
No sabia la existencia de esta pelicula. Yo lei el libro, es muy alucinante!!! Gran autor Ray Bradbuy s, buena puesta en escena.
I'll never forget this series!
i remember watching this in 1980 i was 18 then and i haven't seen this since. well now i can watch this masterpiece again after all these years thank you for uploading this gem 😊😊😊
Yo tenía 16 en 1980. Te recomiendo el libro. Es maravilloso.
The Martians in THIS look a lot like those in another movie called The Man Who Fell to Earth.
David Bowie stared. In that as alien.
David Bowie 😊
This really captures the eerie sensibility of the book. If you haven't read it, IMO it is the greatest Sci-Fi novel of all time, and a must read.
I want to read the book, when this series aired on tv I didn't understand the series, now in ,2024, finally I had the opportunity to see it on UA-cam, but still I have many questions, when I read the.book they will be answer
I read this classic as a youngster of 10, and I never forgot the awe I experienced when reaching the final reveal of the martians. Such a profound romance of spirit that touches me deeply to this day. For me the hallmark of Bradbury’s was his sweeping, romantic lyricism.
... THANK YOU very much Edu Seijas, for this WONDERFUL and educational contribution in favor of SELF-KNOWLEDGE, for the humanity of this planet... You help the evolution of the collective consciousness that transcends the illusory ego that "rules" this existential plane... May Peace be in each and every one.
I ❤️ this miniseries. I grew up wearing out the tape as well. I was really young when it aired on TV. Best scifi in it's time of the early 1980.
I saw It too, about in 1983 😁🇨🇱
I watched it as a mini series in 1980. I was a little guy then. It was great
I saw pieces of it when I was a little kid. I remember watching it with my dad, and being absolutely fascinated!
Wonderful to find this!
In the last act of this story, the Martian philosophy of life for its own sake, is perfection.
Thank you Mr. Bradbury.
Extraordinaria serial.
Magnifica imagen y sonido.
I enjoyed this "Mini-Series" when it was first broadcast! Was great entertaining. And you never knew when it would take you!
Man this is bringing back some memories! How much things have changed, but so much is the same!
Read the book, it's an absolutely different experience. It's pure Bradbury poetry. Go ahead!
And thanks for the "thanks".
True. Although I don't think many people would actually agree with Spender. Especially not back then.
Love your post 👍
One of my most favorite stories, discussing how far humanity still needs to learn, grow, expand consciousness.
Very timely movie (2024). Thank you
ESTUVE AÑOS ESPERANDO VOLVER A VERLA!!!
@@kuriochile 👍
I watched this when I was a teen. I loved it. Ray Bradbury was a true genius and a great story teller.
My favorite book in a mini series is all I could ever ask for. 💜 Thank you for sharing.
I am very glad you liked my post so much. I discovered the real Bradbury with his Chronicles. 🙂
Thanks for putting this up I have always wanted to see it.
It's available on bluray.
Never saw this series...read the books. How nice. What a cast...😀🏋️♂️🛰🚀Richard Matheson..of course.
R.I.P. Commissioner McMillan.
"Shedding their human forms as nightmares fade into a new dawn." -the yearnful poetry of Bradbury. e.g: 'The Fog Horn', 'Embroidery'.
Oh my gosh! I love This gem oldie! Missed it and here it is!😢🥺🙏🥰🙋✨🇨🇦💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Great job on the translation. Thank you for uploading this series. Brought up so many memories!
This never saw prime time television in Australia. I watched it late night in the 80’s. Loved it.
Brilliant
Thank you so much for uploading this
I remember watching it as a child
Gracias por subir ésto! 💖✨
Es realmente una maravilla!
I was 10 years old when this came out. We we’re excited to watch.
Well done, Eduardo. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for posting this great memory.
Thank You so very much for uploading this 👊🙏
One of the best things a high school teacher could do was make us read this book when we were 14 years old in 1995, which captivated me and I finished reading it in just 5 days.
Thank you so much. This is great.
Muchas gracias por compartir esta serie.
Rock Hudson played in this series so many years ago, and still worth watching.
It's worth watching _because_ it was made many years ago, not in spite of it.
I was 9 when this aired, and remember bits. The kid in me is excited to watch this all again. The adult me however was very concerned at the collection of spikes kept at the bottom of the stairs in the Martians home.
Bradbury was more a Fantasy writer than a Sci Fi, but he was still great.
This movie scared the crap out of me as a kid. It made me both scared and excited about the future of space travel.
