You didn't talk about weight and how that affects rider fatigue (I usually do 5 hour rides). There are some really light-weight helmets I prefer out there over a snell rating.
The video quality of the videos you have been producing is absolutely amazing great work Kyle
Thanks for breaking down the details. Appreciate your expertise as you've ridden for so many hours and years. 💪🔥
Airoh Aviator , best off-road helmet i have used . Lightweight, premium quality, great venting and looks 👌
I LOVE my Bell Moto 9 Carbon Flex!!
My advice to anyone looking for a helmet is go try them on. That doesn't mean you can't later use his link to rm atv/mc. But they all have somewhat of a different shape and we all have different heads. I use a Shoei because they fit me best.
I totally agree on the best two helmets and the ones I wear as well Fly Formula and the 6D ATR-2.
Good job Kyle!
Love the fitting of 6D and Fly...
I would really like the 6D helmets....At least the idea, I haven't worked up the cash to get one yet.
Never bought a helmet off line, not sure about not getting to try it on before purchase,., yes color is important but for me comfort and weight are most important. And obviously durability
Just bought (3) Fly Formula Carbon Helmets.
⚡😁👍👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🔥
Hey kyle how are you love the videos man, i was wondering what do you think about adventure/dual sport helmets for trail riding
Bell moto 9 carbon flex. Love it.
I would recommend going in and trying the helmet on if you can .. I have tried a large and extra large helmet on and the same make model and have had the large fit bigger lol weird I know but it happens .. try on if possible
Bell Moto 9 Carbon Flex.
When the Moto 10 Spherical becomes more consumer available, that's what I'll move to.
Kyle can you do a vid on buying riding equipment on a budget? Alot of us can't afford a 200 helmet or 200 pants and all the expensive top of the line stuff. I would be forever grateful thank you and have a great day
If you get a helmet for less than $100 then you might not be using that one helmet. (If it's not on discount)
How do you know helmets are done for one really good impact? You should tell the source
awesome video thanks mate. where do i get that sweet t-shirt?!
DOT rating is the lowest of the lowest ratings, doesn't really mean much.
I love my 509 helmets they are so comfortable and seal great
Honestly you just need something to cover your head. Best tip is dont crash and in my experience most of the big crashes that I had were not face first mostly goes knees and then torso and your head bounces a bit. My favorite ones is shoei vfx evo which I use for racing but when I just ride on weekends I use my troy lee s4 mono which is super affordable and comfortable would recommend it for anyone starting out or anyone that just wants an extra helmet.
Just got a Airho I’ll see what I think. Ran bell for years. I’m on # 7 5 with holes
Least was great. ???
nice selection, would like to know about Klime, nice work, cheers V!
Which helmet works best for the Cardo Packtalk bold? The 6D ATR-2 shown in your video?
How is the visor release of the Fly?
Damn that fly helmet is sexy
my man has been struck in the head a few times too many...I love you brother
Hi! i wondering if a downhill fullface helmet is smaller in size compared to a regular dirtbike helmet? What i can see it looks like that but i have never seen one i real life (newbie)
Virtually any helmet can pass the basic tests, especially DOT & snell. Unfortunately, those tests mean almost zip. The thing that really differentiates higher quality helmets as far as crash protection is the foam liner. Many cheaper helmets have very hard not pliable foam. If you press it on the inside with your finger there is almost no give, very hard. That means the energy of a smash is more directly transferred right into your ripe melon. Better helmets use better technology in the foam liner & cushioning material to absorb a hit. Thats why you need to #$-can a helmet that has gotten a hard hit, the foam will deform to absorb the impact & will no longer provide protection. The shell itself; polycarbonate/fiber-composite-carbon is a bit more about lightness than anything. Although I would never buy a poly.
Baloney. I''m an engineer. Snell's testing process is an excellent testing resource.
There are many mistakes in your claims. Many manufacturers use multiple layers of foam. In such a scenario, the high density, hard inner layer is connected to the shell via a low density, soft outer layer. The soft layer absorbs smaller impacts, the hard layer absorbs serious impacts. That is perfectly safe and is the way some manufacturers make their EPS foam. Sure, some cheapo helmets will have just a single hard layer of foam, but those rarely pass any test beyond DOT and are not made by reputable manufacturers. If you are looking for extra safety, something like MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) mitigates some of the rotational force before it goes to your head, reducing the chance of a concussion, but that has nothing to do with EPS foam.
Furthermore, the reason you replace a helmet after it's hit/dropped isn't the foam. Foam is only deformed when a load is applied to it and returns to it's former state when the load is gone. It works like a sponge. You replace the helmet because the shell cracks.
You also don't seem to know much about "basic" tests. Sure, DOT is truly meaningless, but ECE 22.05 and 22.06 tests are very thorough and, though I dislike some of the methodologies used in it, SNELL is very thorough as well. There's very good reason few helmets pass SNELL. Personally, I trust SHARP, which rates helmets like EURONCAP rates cars. They also publicise all their results, so you can see how safe the helmet you are looking for is in multiple different areas. Unfortunately, they don't test helmets with peaks, so adventure and MX lids don't have SHARP ratings, and they are based in the UK, so manufacturers who make their helmets differently for the US market (Arai, and Shoei spring to mind) will produce different results, but they are a trustworthy resource to go by.
@@StevePhoenixSNELL is an outdated testing process that is too rigid for motorcycle use. It is more applicable to auto racing taking the same impact more than once. ECE 22.06 is a better MC standard and now the FIM standard is the pinnacle for motorcycle crashes
are alpinestars helmets good, thats what I have
The mips system, was the answer to 6D's hour glass dampers.
MIPS is a carry over from the ski and bike industry. First introduced in the early 2000’s. I think 01 or 02.
@@719vol: Mips went into production in 2007 with an equestrian helmet, but didn't integrate into Dirtbike helmets, until after the 6D with their design.
Good review thanks I have a bell and fox with mips system 👍
Never mentioned the klim helmet?
No shoei?
I started using "cheap" (read on sale) certified helmets and instead change them out on a regular basis or in case of a crash. Personally, if I went and bought a top dollar helmet I would hesitate to swap it when I crash due to the price.
I use a couple of Answer AR-1 which I picked up for 60€ a piece and it is an unbelievably comfortable helmet and it has almost everything a helmet needs except maybe emergency release chin cushions.
Good in spanish !
Saludos 🇦🇷
The hardest hit on my helmet was a rock thrown to me by a young brat. I black out 1 second but I did not fall. The helmet broke
Hey sir
I'm new subscriber from Philippines
I’ve had 1 helmet for 11 years and isn’t still good too 😂🤣🤘
KYLE: I've noticed you've begun to OVERWORK the last 6 weeks or more..🙄⚡
Bike give aways need not happen every month or even every other. How about 2 or 3x a year tops?
Find a New way to get viewers engaged more.
How about smaller gifts?

F those rating ... They mean almost nothing ... Every helmet has the ~same EPS foam inside, for the last ~40 yrs? lol
A helmet `ONLY needs replacing when the EPS foam gets dented ...
I ust don;t ride in a way where Iever fall down. Like skiing andsnowboarding, most of th edeath and injury comes from people riding WAY over their heads, spirred on by chnnels like these. "Buy monster 300 nd go out nd wheelie and tear around the mountains and go to the hospital..
first
Lots of good options out there. I have personally tested, owned and recommend - troy lee se4 carbon, alpinestars M10, arai vx pro, airoh aviator, shoei vxf. Unless you are not getting out of second gear - Don't be fooled by lightest is always right. Look at the foam amount and densities. Even Airhoh went to a heavier helmet from Aviator 2 to 3. Best all around helmet I've had is probably a tie between TLD se4 carbon and M10. I ride high speed, low speed, and everything between. Aviator 2, is super light , imo too light for high speed.

Something I never understood when I was little but am thankful for now. My bike would have 30 zip ties and a huge dent in pipe, but my dad never played around with helmets
