T&T is owned by 2 Taiwanese owners a mom and daughter. It all started in Vancouver Canada because their wasn't any asian supermarkets back in the 90's.
T&T Supermarket is currently owned by **Loblaw Companies Limited**, a major Canadian food retailer. Loblaw acquired T&T in 2009 and continues to own and operate the chain. Galen G. Weston is the one behind things now and has been involved in grocery monopoly, bread price fixing scheme, and price gouging, to say the least. He is currently one of Canada's most hated rich person. Boycott all of his companies
I believe the Lee family still run the company - the daughter took over as CEO, under Loblaw/Weston Group of Companies after the acquisition. I believe they are also still major shareholders. If you ever go to any of the other Weston owned stores (ie No Frills, Loblaw, superstore… ) you will still find T&T products.
I thought they were chinese garlic chives (well that's what they call them where i live) not to be confused with garlic scapes, or western garlic chives both of which are different again
The hot food section at my local T&T is really good for being "steam tray" Chinese food. My favourites are their spicy "Thai" chicken and braised eggplant with potatoes. 3 items plus rice for $11 and you can usually get two meals out of it. I like to buy bbq pork and throw it in the freezer so i always have a few slices handy for a rice bowl, fried rice, or wonton soup.
Muscats are just a grape. What makes them different is they are somewhat recently developed in Japan and grown I think exclusively in Japan and South Korea under licence. They are exclusive and carefully grown so pricey.
Another Taiwanese/Chinese grocery store chain is 99 Ranch! They also have products from other Asia countries. I believe there are a few locations in Washington.
Benji some of those Lays chips are amazing, particularly the Cumin lamb skewer one - I've been a bit chicken to try the Cucumber ones. I can't believe the packets are soooo big though
@ agreed. And T&T is awesome (I live in the Toronto area). They have awesome catering options from their kitchen too! You can order/cater all kinds of menu options
That location was a Walmart, but the store relocated to someplace else. H Mart is a chain of Korean supermarkets in the Seattle metro area as well. nice store but pricey though.
Get the Papa Crispy Chicken! What makes it so tasty is the dry seasonings, there are two dry seasonings, one is a white paper based (my favorite) and the other is a red chili based. I usually dip my chicken in the seasonings and not sprinkle it all over the chicken.
T&T is a subsiduary of Loblaw Companies Limited , a company controlled by the Canadian branch of the Weston family (there is a UK branch which among other things owns Primark and Twinnings Tea) Loblaw, which is the both largest grocery chain and the largest drug store chain (Shopper's Drug Mart) in Canada, bought T&T in 2009 from the Lee family and paid for it in cash & Loblaw shares. Tina Lee is the CEO of the T&T division.
Damn I’m so jealous. I live in Pittsburgh and it’s very multicultural and small markets are available for many kinds of ethnicities. But nothing big like this. ❤❤
The unsweetened and sweetened soy milk is famous in Taiwan. Lots of tourists and locals line up at the breakfast shop here in Taipei for the soy milk and breakfast in general. Of course, it's not as good as the freshly made soy milk from the breakfast spot but the bottled version is worth a try!
be intering in coming years if they expand more they will be competing with 99 ranch which is the most known asian supermarket in usa. gonna comes down to prices/options to see which ppl favor more.
I've noticed large, green grapes are called Muscats in Japan too. I believe they are seedless (at least the ones in Japan). I live in Seattle and am Asian, so I'll probably head in to T&T sometime next year after all the excitement dies down a bit to avoid the crowds. I want to try the Taiwanese unsweetened soy milk and some Japanese products I can't find at Uwajimaya's or at a more reasonable price, hoping the whole tariff thing doesn't come to fruition...fingers crossed!
I’m surprised you haven’t gone to t and t much in Vancouver out of all the times you’ve been up! It’s our standard Asian grocery store! Take a look at the t and t brand frozen food. Easy freezer staples like their steamed dumplings and green onion pancakes. They’re not mind blowing but they’re quick when you don’t have time to cook! The buns are great for grocery store buns but St Germain Bakery in Vancouver is still the best.
That cake with pork fluff/floss is really good. The light sweet angel cake goes really well with fluffy savour pork. Also Worth checking out: Pick your own toppings sticky rice roll station
Benji, you love natto! I think you can eat a snail. I've actually tried it at a French restaurant. It was really good drenched in garlic and butter!! 😅
I can't figure the lines at T&T. When they opened to new one in Coquitlam it was the same. Is it really that great? They were opened by a lady from Taiwan, in Canada, then sold to the largest grocery chain, Weston group. They own Superstore, Loblaws, etc
The family is still involved with the daily operations of T&T. In fact, the current CEO is the founder's daughter and it was her idea to branch into USA. Over the years, T&T has become more than just "Chinese/Taiwanese" supermarket but they now offer a lot of different foods from a lot of different Asian countries. I personally think it's great tbh.
Bakery: Japanese Cheesecake! & all the Chinese buns (pineapple buns, pork bun, custard bun, red bean buns, coconut buns) & the EGG TARTS China Fuji apples…the big ones that’s wrapped pink foam. & maybe Check out the Ice cream section!
They used to have a good coconut bread but I noticed they cheaped out on it in recent years and it no longer has as much coconut through it that it used to 😢
I love store videos if the talker knows what he is talking about. In a lot of uch videos I experience that the talker can't even identify the most basic products in the store. Thank you for the great Video! ❤
Use your be way better when owned by an Asian lady that owned and ran the chain. It’s now owned by a large store chain. Still good if you didn’t see how it was before it was sold. Prices use to be way better.

@turnupthewhat4583 Sorry to hear that! I guess it used to he owned by 2 Taiwanese mom and daughter? Lol
Great story

@@jammmxi Good to know!! I do recall seeing Tina the daughter on reels. Introducing this new location in particular.
Your confidence while vlogging in public is unmatched Benji 😂 and I love it.
Sooooo happy this video of your review of T&T is here!!!!
💖it!
Me too!
Pretty pricey
I love muscat grapes. They're sweet and crunchy. They're the grapes used for muscato, dessert wine. Yum
We loved them. Delicious
Those long stalks are garlic stalks or garlic scapes. Very yummy when fire roasted with salt pepper and 5 spice powder.
I thought they were chinese garlic chives (well that's what they call them where i live) not to be confused with garlic scapes, or western garlic chives both of which are different again

Very interesting food 😊 Thanks Benji Merry Christmas 🎉🎊
those long green veggie looked like garlic scapes to me, my mom used to make korean banchan out of those :)
Thank uuu
When you showed the surf clam sushi, my eyes perked up. Sure enough, Clearwater. Canadian Atlantic coast
The fresh vegetable looked like lotus root, and pork floss is typically eaten with plain congee
Muscats are just a grape. What makes them different is they are somewhat recently developed in Japan and grown I think exclusively in Japan and South Korea under licence. They are exclusive and carefully grown so pricey.
Benji please record a video of you and your family trying out all the fruit!! Loving these Grocery vlogs 💕
Yes!! Benji you finally went! I've been waiting for you to go show us this store. I've been seeing this all over my fb
I was so excited to check it out! 😄
Oh wow, cool. Wish we had a grocery store like this in town.
Super cool
Egg tarts are a must. If they have a sushi section, that’s worth a try as well.
I’ll look out for it
Another Taiwanese/Chinese grocery store chain is 99 Ranch! They also have products from other Asia countries. I believe there are a few locations in Washington.
Love that place too
Looks like the 99 Ranch we have here on Long Island, NY. They wrap the durian here so you don't smell it as soon as you walk in.
Benji some of those Lays chips are amazing, particularly the Cumin lamb skewer one - I've been a bit chicken to try the Cucumber ones. I can't believe the packets are soooo big though
they're open unti 12am in some locations here (toronto)
it's the go-to place to get asian snacks when the cravings hit late at night 😂
I bet!
T&T is now owned by loblaws, loblaws is the biggest grocer in Canada
Good for the founders.
@ agreed. And T&T is awesome (I live in the Toronto area). They have awesome catering options from their kitchen too! You can order/cater all kinds of menu options

I haven't been to t&t in eons ! I love the bubble tea 🧋
I bet it’s delicious
Benji! I heard if you bring kids they lets you in right away! Take your girls 😂😂
😃😂
Good to know.
Everything look so fresh!
Yes it did
There it is

Look like 99 ranch market and t&t got a little competition .
What a great store. I love the Dungie crab section. Yumm. Costco 12 oz SPAM is $3.37 per can.
Thank you. Good to know.

You should bring Judy and she can look at the skincare aisle haha
be intering in coming years if they expand more they will be competing with 99 ranch which is the most known asian supermarket in usa. gonna comes down to prices/options to see which ppl favor more.
I would make sure to check out the pastries/bread section for some mung bean pastries
T&t opening in lynnwood Washington in April
I think it’s Lynnwood where Sprouts was not in Shoreline
Nice!
Love it ❤❤ my subscribers love when o go to Costco and show them what is new . I love when you go to Costco with your girls.
Benji get the apple cidra it so good!! 😊
I’ll try it for sure

Awsome vid i live near that store but havent been there yet thank you very much
Can you do a food review of the haul?? 😢
I love the self control!
I went to a t&t in Vaughn Ontario in May for the 1st time. You've got to go back for ramen bowls.
I’m surprised you haven’t gone to t and t much in Vancouver out of all the times you’ve been up! It’s our standard Asian grocery store! Take a look at the t and t brand frozen food. My T&T has that pork floss cake too. I've always been afraid to try it! The strawberry and buttercream version is very good though.
You finally made it!!!
I wish Don Quijote or Marukai would open here. Give Uwajimaya some competition and maybe bring their prices down.
I'm with you, I don't like shopping grand openings. black friday or last minute Christmas shopping! I don't like the crowds and lines! 😅❤
Totally. I need space.
I love a good Asian market! We just got one on Maui in Kahului. We really needed it.
Maybe the Muskats are muscadines, which we have in the south for sure.
My Mom used to go to a Asian herbal medicine store when I was younger and I couldn't handle the overwhelming amount of smells ❤
Lots of new smells for sure
That place was slammed. I'd have to try some of those chips haha
That’s garlic shoots it’s really yummy!😊
Benji, you love natto! I think you can eat a snail. I've actually tried it at a French restaurant. It was really good drenched in garlic and butter!! 😅
You should bring jmk to the supermarket with you. They will def go crazy for the snacks
Totally
Asian markets are full of products that America grocery stores don’t have, a great market to shop Asian products …
Totally!

We went the other day. If you have a kid with you, you dont need to line up. I think hmart is still a better choice for my needs.
I enjoy both.
I hope they open T&T in NJ.

The "white long beans" are garlic chives 😅
Use your be way better when owned by an Asian lady that owned and ran the chain. It’s now owned by a large store chain. Still good if you didn’t see how it was before it was sold. Prices use to be way better.
