Early morning the cows and goats go to the Swiss Alps | Cattle Drive Switzerland Appenzellerland

Thursday May 21st, 2024 - despite the pouring rain, the first alpine cattle drive starts at 2 a.m. The farmer sets off for the summer alp with herdsmen, assistants, goats, cows and horses, which pull the "Lediwagen" and sow wagon. The march with the cattle from the local farm to the alp takes 6 hours. Later the Alpine Association "Stein" also made its way to the alp with its cattle. Another farmer followed a little later with his cows. Everyone walked with their cattle through the village of Urnäsch in the Appenzellerland region of Switzerland.
