City of Nara sits in the special place in the heart of every Japanese. I had a classmate from Nara when I was young and schooling in Tokyo Japan. I remember his kind and warm and thoughtful personality well. I noticed both people from Kyoto and Nara had a certain cultural pride of their own. Totally understandable but that of Nara people was more down to earth and less snobbish I thought. (Well, I was probably shamelessly snobbish being born in Shinjuku-ward...sorry my friend.) Anyway, from that perspective, I think it's a great place to raise kids!
Yes, I agree, there is a special feeling of pride that local residents here feel. I admire that so much! I'm very happy to be raising our kids here and I hope they feel that same love and pride for the area.
