I have had people questioning my qualifications even unions where i work. I simply send them a link to my thesis which takes them to the UJ website and to my Thesis. I never jump up and down.

Providing proof of your qualifications is the simplest thing one can do, you don't need an interview, all you need is your student number, transcript, certificate and a soft or hard copy of your thesis which in many cases if one has completed a Master's Degree or PhD most institutions even in South Africa upload them online and are accessible to the public.I personally can access many thesis online, no need for an interview, they are available. If there are changes in your name you may as well submit the form you filled out at home affairs that states your previous names including your ID document, and that will solve the problem. I am sure one is able to access those documents anytime required.

I think Clement handled this interview very professionally... he left no personal fingerprints on the narrative and gave her plenty room to prove her innocence... which she squandered... leaving it up to listeners to draw their own conclusions.

It’s quite sad that her condition could be treated locally under the previous regime instead of going abroad. It’s no wonder why most musicians are dying of treatable diseases not counting the ordinary folks.
Why can't she give her name on air? I smell bs. It is very easy to verify if you are holding a PHD from reputable institute. You ger awarded a certificate with your name and a verification number. She is lying.

Just imagine having a Ph.D. from the London School of Economics as Jacob Zungu & then changing my name to Jake Manzini, now my PhD Certificate has a different name than the one I am officially using! Something is OFF! 🤔🤭

There's an easy way to get to the bottom of this that (to my knowledge) no one has brought up. Who is her dissertation advisor? So long as that person is still living they should be easy to reach and would know if the person successfully defended. They're not going to lie. The interviewer should have asked her that.

@@rvlng7265 Right but that would be definitive in showing that shes lying. If you ask her on the spot who her advisor was and she cant answer, thats the end of it. If she gives an answer, follow up with that person, they will know the truth. It shouldnt take more than a day or two.

It is now Monday, few days after this interview, she resigned Anglo American, Mtn SA. This is so disappointing. This lady has two masters degree, didnt need to lie about a further qualification, however esteemed it is. Lack of vetting for senior roles is shocking.

Many "prestigious" institutions have award ceremonies for Phd's at least! And I am sure, there would be evidence of her Phd on video, albeit in absentia!
I obtained professional qualifications before changing my surname and subsequently a few more but no one ever questioned why i have 2 different surnames on my certificates because my ID remains the same.
How do you change names whilst your ID stays the same?

This is so sad. Leoka has handled this whole matter very badly! I really hope she's somehow proven right in the end. So far, even the London School of Economics is unable to come to her rescue.
This is very sad with far greater consequences becoz she was a director of JSE-listed entities. (1) She lied about her qualifications (2) She also confesses that she used a different name for her PhD, something that each and every Annual Statement may have required to stipulate. (3) She is insulting and worsening the vetting process that should have picked up her "name-change" and qualifications. All those AFS may need to be republished, unless someone corrects me. CONCLUSION - @thabileoka - Keep your mouth shut. Stay in the USA or just hide

The number of powerful people with fake degrees really is wild! If her degree isn't fake, she could post her academic transcript(s), the thesis, and the qualification. She probably bought her degree from a diploma mill but won't admit to it.

@@Vv-fl2rm Sadly, there are many people around the world who have lied about their qualifications. Leoka isn't the first and won't be last. She doesn't need a PhD for the work she does, yet she lied about that. If her story really checked out, there wouldn't be so much ducking and diving, and all matters surrounding her qualifications would have been shut down in a quick and clear manner. The fact that the institution she claims to have studied at has no record of her PhD studies is quite telling.
I'd say the accuser should step forward and tell the public how this all started and their reasons for doing as they did. After all, the lady has worked in the corporate sector for a number of years so something must have triggered this action ?

Masters and PhD's can be verified with transcripts, Thesis, and not necessarily with graduation ceremony pictures/videos. Many people have skipped attending graduation ceremonies due to lack of finances
She is brave to lie about a qualification from LSE because that school is very prestigious. Children of the rich and powerful study there and LSE will surely not find joy in hearing that someone has fabricated a qualification from them.

I've always loved and admired Thabi for YEARS as one of the trusted Economists in this country PLUS on top of that she is so Pretty....But this is just so sad for me to watch her destroy her integrity and reputation with such childish and stupid lies....I wonder what is it that is pressuring her or who is she competiting with that she will go to the extremes of LYING about holding a PhD in Economics from the London School Of Economis???!!!.... This Thabi Leoka "Fake Ph.D" thing reminds me of what a friend of mine once said about her! We were watching a TV Programme where a panel of Economists were being interviewed after a Budget Speech by the Finance Minister. My friend said: "Your favourite Economist Thabi wears Boutique Fashion - very rare for an Economist to be a Fashionista - I hope she's not hiding something!" I remember laughing saying to my friend: "You're jealous because she holds a Ph.D from LSE!". That friend now works in Australia - she was laughing when I phoned her to tell her about the "Breaking News about Doctor Thabi, my favourite Economist!🤣🤣🤣

We live in the world where a person can accuse you of anything, then you must prove yourself innocent. While you are busy proving yourself innocent (kept busy), they take what they wanted from you in the first place.
It is a trick played everyday right in front of us by those who control or have access to powerful mediums.
If the plan is not to redicule, why not ask the person to recuse themselves from any position they might be in until they supply proof of qualifications.

But lets be honest, there is Vetting processes for qualifications and criminal backgrounds, especially when it comes to private companies. So I believe her. Some people are just bored, i was also vetter before i joined the company im working for.
I call cap, she lying she is another DR.LANI I got British qualification and gues what they ask for names as they are written on your passport and identification which you may hold in the U.K that is if you are there. If she has European qualification she just needs to show the QR code and this would imediately show up.

She can just sent a proof without any story long time ago. There are so many top skills SA professionals unemployed. The issue is that with fake qualifications or without any qualifications cronies appoint each other, that why economy is collapsing, investors are disinvesting , people with REAL skills are leaving and WEF doesn't consider investments.
There is a body in the UK called HEDD (Higher Education Degree Data check). This is the body that can confirm whether or not a person has the qualifications they claim to possess. The personal qualifications can be checked only after that person signs an authorisation granting the institution permission to release personal data. It is an offence to release data without permission from the person whose data is requested. I do not believe the newspaper could have obtained the information they stated they posses. Check HEDD, they have a website but only a registered person can apply for the information subject to the authorisation stated.
