Best level, best song. Seriously, James Paddock is such a great composer when it comes to music for Doom level packs. I hope Episode 3 gets released soon.
What if I told you this (Womp), the tracks for map01 (Entering), map04 (Clonk), map17 (Dirt) and the intermissions (Waiting) were all composed by the same musician, esselfortium? :)
Fun fact: RottKing used footage from this map in his PRO DOOM MONSTER STRATS video, 2 years before btsx was first released publicly. It was also the first btsx map I got to play(test), heh. And to this day I'm still triggered by the mancubus in the backpack secret. Good luck with Tough Skin River.
You have to respect the lore dew, the mancubus squeezed himself in there to get at those backpack snacks, and couldn't get back out. Environmental story telling.
I just realized that, as a viewer, these levels are so poorly lit sometimes that the only way I can see monsters incoming is thanks to the weapons literally lighting up the path! Way to clear a path decino!
Great video again decino. It came to the right time, when I had a silent hour on work. Perfect timing, and perfect playing by you too. I'm always fascinated how fast you react to circumstances, for example, to traps that turn out in close combat. Outstanding! 👍 You mentioned the next one, map 24. It's one of Doomworld's Top 100 most memorable maps and it's placed...Nr. 24! That must mean something...🤔 But I don't know what.😁 W h a t I know from playing it a while ago is that it is tough. Oh man is it tough but I think you teach me a better. Like here, like always!😁 And then the emotional, beautiful end of episode one...,but I don't want to spoil.😶😉 Thanks for sharing decino.👍👊🤘❤
I'd love to see you do a playthrough of the weird PSX version of Final Doom and give your thoughts on the PSX versions of Doom as a whole. There's a TC project for them floating around that works with GZDoom and stuff, :D
Man I remember this map was really good especially this music is awesome to listen even at 1.05 tune just to hear things slight difference and I like it! It's like this map wants you to kill and run as fast as possible almost like Sonic the Hedgehog! 🤔As for map 23, loooooove the music for this as well! It makes me want to sleep very peacefully when sitting on the seat for the train to run smoothly! 🥱😌Overall a very long map, but a great one at that! Nicely done! 👍
We're getting close to the next wad! I'm not a big fan of BTSX esthetic in general, but the gameplay seems really good. And the music is good too. Enough to make me want to play it. Thank you for this great playthrough, Mr Decido ^^ I wish you a quick recovery.
Sounds exciting, looking forward to seeing how hard to impossible the next one is. 🤔 Well you have read in other maps in the past that they were very hard and found them to be not that bad, so we'll see I guess. Yep sniffle's will never get in the way of and Doomer😈😂
Penultimate? This seems like such a shorter megawad.. :( So sad that it's almost over.. Thanks for sharing your playthrough! The music is amazing, especially for this level.
Fun fact: Ancient Aliens is a skillsaw-directed wad. Skillsaw was one of the authors of map22 here, which uses an esselfortium track. One of the maps in AAliens is made by essel in turn.
10:45 question, there's a switch with a down arrow near the arachnotron at around 10:45. What does it do?? I've been playing the level and can't figure out what it lowers
So does GZdoom changes enemy behaviour too much to the point even with "vanilla" settings it isn't really vanilla? Like does it change enemy behaviour? Also amazing music on this.
Not really, but I do think flying enemies are affected by vertical knockback when hit by rockets and stuff. I also think Lost Souls don't suffer from targeting amnesia either. I'm not 100% sure, it's something I want to research.
@@decino I really am not sure. Been trying to understand the difference between the ports. I love GZdooms fancy features, but don't want the OG game completely tarnished either gameplay wise.
I notice flying enemies suffer way more horizontal knockback in GZDoom vs more vanilla source ports, but aside from that, enemy behavior seems the same to me without fast monsters, anyway.
16:56 "Ah crap, the Revenants are here." You sound like your least favourite neighbours just showed up for your classy dinner party.
Best level, best song.
Seriously, James Paddock is such a great composer when it comes to music for Doom level packs. I hope Episode 3 gets released soon.
This song is actually by esselfortium, it's called Womp
@@Omenshaper Ah, forgot Esselfortium was composer for BTSX as well. Here's hoping at least a couple songs made by her will be included in Episode 3.

Last time I was this early, John Romero was working on Daikatana

The "D" is not capitalised.
The visual detail they put in this campaign is ridiculous. I hope these guys get to make their own game someday, because I'd buy it.
Level author: "Next level is basically impossible in UV+"
decino: "Challenge accepted"
Zero Master:- *sweats nervously.*
Irene Parkin don’t disrespect doomguy like that
Voice never ceases to give me narrator vibes. Professional stuff man 🙏🏻
The last part with the walk around the station was the best. Let's go the final level!
@13:34 You nailed the timing on killing the Baron exactly when the elevator starts moving! :)
I bet he does it without even thinking about it now. He plays so well and so smoothly. That's why it's such a pleasure to watch and learn.
Great level and so beautifully played by decino despite his lingering blocked nose. And that music was awesome.
Fun fact: RottKing used footage from this map in his PRO DOOM MONSTER STRATS video, 2 years before btsx was first released publicly. It was also the first btsx map I got to play(test), heh. And to this day I'm still triggered by the mancubus in the backpack secret.

@@Pordontae That's the thing I hate. A skinny mancubus walked in and just ate so much that he couldn't leave the cubbyhole anymore. Disgusting!!!
The music sounds like a high-quality Jazz Jackrabbit track. Could listen to it all day on repeat.
The JJR soundtrack is ducking godly.
It does sound like some Alexander Brandon stuff, just like map15's track.
when i finally clicked on this video.. i didnt expect commentary at all. i kinda regret not watching those other videos to be honest.
Decino's Doom commentaries are always so relaxing. You've got a lot of great content to go through.
You're in quarantine anyway, go on and binge his content. Great pastime, we guarantee it.
Bless that wet nose. Eat some soup and relax, Decino
I like levels like that, just blast everything as you work through. great music.
Damn you're chaingunning one video after another... and I love it!
The hits just keep on coming!

If you play in an OpenGL-accelerated port, you can add brightmaps to sprites and textures. I used brightmaps-plus and it looked _amazing._
Might makes light, And Decino feels mighty!
The music is perfect for this level
BTSX has some impressive level design, hope you get well soon.
I think it's fair to say that when it comes to Doom any 'impossible' challenge can be done, if you have a player brave enough
You're a mad lad, Martin.
"My nose is still stuffed." Soooo... thats why your reflexes are so sharp!
I like that you reacted to that sudden spectre in the lift like it was a mosquito. Glad to see it die. The next level sounds like fun.
Map 23 has some Marathon vibes, with that feeling of loneliness, I like it
This music rips and tears!
I could watch all day lol. Your commentary brings a lot to these playthroughs man. Hope you feel better soon :)

We're getting close to my arch nemesis: BTSX E1 MAP24.
The music. Whoa!
Doom is a great cure to any illness
Looking forward to the final level with co-op monsters!
The music for this one is very Deus Ex, I like it.

Started kicking ass with the SSG right as the music picked up!
The music on this map is good. Like, ridiculously good.
Enjoy! esselfortium.bandcamp.com/track/womp
Sarah made one HECK of a bop for this one. And here was I thinking she couldn't top "Entering", the track for the first map.
fantastic music in this one, I like how its up high too for your run !
BTSX the modern GOAT soundtrack.
