- Under Pairs Movie Review - I thought maybe we could have a cool, smart Shark movie again. If not that, perhaps another fun, campy film like Deep Blue Sea. Unfortunately, Netflix gave us neither. Instead, Under Paris is just a boring, poorly written film with a lot of useless scenes and very little shark attack action. I found this film to be a chore to get through. Under Paris has a Jaws concept without the execution. It's a waste of time.

As a Frenchman who isn't too fond of the city of Paris, I did like the ending

After these idiots were just chilling with a gaggle of makos get eaten then immortal girlboss dives in and survived being drug down over 100 feet and didn't die from the benz I was screaming at the TV...from there it just gets so much worse. Holy hell I fast forwarded it 60% easily
I watched the first ten minutes and immediately thumbs down
I'm guessing since she didn't have a tank and would be considered a free dive, she can't catch the Benz but her ears should have bin in the gulag with her being deaf for the rest of the movie
Jaws and Deep Blue sea had a baby and made another Sharknado.
But where does The Meg fit into this?
And Twisters was its aunt.
The Meg movies are good science fiction horror movies, too.

I have been to Paris once in my life. It was a wonderful, unforgettable experience. I visited the Louvre, which houses some of the greatest works of art that human imagination and craft can fabricate. I walked the cobblestones of the neighborhoods, sampled the delectable cuisine, and heard on a daily basis that lovely spoken twittering that is French, "the language of love." But yeah, I have to admit, the whole experience would have been immeasurably improved by sharks.
As a Frenchman who dislike Paris, I'm pretty sure I would have had a much more positive perspective of it if I came from elsewhere and just visited Paris as a tourist like you did
The shark dodging every bullet was the dumbest thing I have ever seen in a movie 🤣🤣🤣
Netflix is Tubi but with budgets that are 100x bigger.
Netflix just pushing movies off the conveyor belt and it's all trash. And not even good trash. I wouldn't even put this on in the background while I'm doing the laundry.

Truth! I've had Netflix for years now and I've already seen most of the movies on there, the new ones are all trash so I find myself rewatching old films and shows I've seen a dozen times just because the new stuff looks stupid! Tubi is probably better in my opinion especially because it's free!
The problem with newer shark movies is the CGI. Jaws movies hold up cause it's an actual fake shark. This movie is like the video game man-eater. The shark is forever hungry
And Jaws is actually a good movie, it builds the tension and tells a good story. It's not just schlocky "LOOK AT THE SHARK!!! AHHHHH SHARK! ITS A SHARK!!! DID YOU SEE THE SHARK!?!?!?!"

@@Aaron-ox8ye Jaws and Rocky are 2 of the most misunderstood classic movies, I think due to the sequels and ripoffs. Rocky is a drama centered around boxing, but people view it as a jock sports movie that's just brains being bashed in for an hour and a half, and Jaws is a tense thriller that people view as a the first schlocky shark monster movie. It's really a shame.

Makes absolutely no sense that they went anywhere near the water. With today’s technology, all they need is a pot roast and a remote activated bomb, wait for the shark to eat it, click boom. End of movie. Job done. They literally didn’t even need to get their toes wet.
At the very least, drop in from a damn shark cage! So stupid.
But if nobody ever went into the dark creepy room, there wouldn't be a movie!

Perhaps one day they'll be another great shark movie. But that'll happen only when filmmakers finally realize that as well made as the action scenes in "Jaws" may have been, it's the exceedingly well-drawn and acted human characters that make it great.
Yes. Jaws is a human drama. It's not about the shark. It's about the people who have to deal with the shark.

I just watched this a few nights ago and thought it was good, if you like SyFy trash films lol.. Some of the effects are sh** and some are wicked SyFy bad sh** lol. 😂 4/10, hard pass.

I just watched the opening scene where the girl gets drug down by the shark and there's no possible world where she survives that. That alone made me turn it off, I could tell it was gonna be nonsense.

The animatronic sharks used in 'Deep Blue Sea' are still the most realistic I've seen so far.

Maybe my expectations were super low but i actually liked this movie. Yes, its stupid. Yes, its batsh*t crazy. But i liked it! Fun popcorn movie with friends so u can celebrate together when someone stupid gets eaten!!! 😂

Under Paris is silly, but entertaining. Some more shark action would have been good. I think it ended too abruptly though.

I’m with you on the lesbian scene. Sometimes it’s so shoehorned in and makes it an eye roll moment instead of a natural relationship kind of action.
The things is, from the sound of it, this scene was 100% for the male gaze and not for any "inclusivity" reason.

I watched this a couple of days ago. Neither the best nor worst shark movie I've ever seen; biggest problem was that the movie took itself way too seriously until the end.
11:55 I was hoping the explosions would blow the sharks into the air and they'd fall out of the sky and start eating people, but that's not what happened. Could have people getting eaten in the Louvre, on the Eiffel Tower, etc.
Funny how at the climax there's a triathlon taking place despite the River Seine being too polluted (and full of sharks), and a few months after the movie came out they had to postpone the men's triathlon Olympic event in real life because the river was too polluted, so the movie was timely if nothing else.
STUFF I DIDN'T KNOW BEFORE WATCHING....... UNDER PARIS:
1) Every Parisian speaks English without the slightest hint of an accent.
2) When Parisians get too close to water, they become irrational, sometimes panic, and make lots of bad decisions.
3) How dumb of a movie it would be.
Movie lost me at the beginning, when the woman got dragged way way way under the ocean and she held her breath all the way through then came out of the ocean looking like she was the shark herself . Blood out the mouth and her roaring … cringe af
My god this movie was bad. Mind you I watched this back to back with Jessica Albas Trigger warning. Two very bad films. Under Paris lead actors were just not good. Two counter points. I thought the cgi sharks looked better than many sharks The lesbian kiss came and went so fast it felt natural. It didn't feel like a check box. But dam I do not recommend Under Paris, or Trigger warning.
All these shark movies that have come along over the years are average at best, other than maybe Deep Blue Sea. The one thing all these movies are missing, Steven Spielberg. The amount of blockbusters that dude has had since JAWS is crazy. Even his TV movie Duel is superior to most of these shark movies. I do find all the shark movies entertaining, including Sharknado... lol But until someone like Spielberg comes along, shark movies will always be average at best.
Gotta say, this is probably the worst shark movie I have ever seen. The movie should have been over in the first 10 minutes of the movie with our "hero" dead. If you want to call her a hero. The acting was awful. The sharks were awful. And the ending was awful. Waste of an hour and whatever the run time was. Straight garbage.
Just watched it. I actually enjoyed the catacombs scene where the activists had a FAFO moment.
Not going to lie, I haven't laughed that hard in a movie in years. Solid comedy.
Adam, if you think this is bad. Watch jessica alba as a US special forces marine with perfect makeup and hair salon blow dry hair in every frame.

Hmmm, the last time I was in Paris, France, I'm pretty sure it was not on the coast of France and hence, did not have seawater anywhere or in the Seine River which is a freshwater river system that flows into the English Channel, so the initial premise of a killer shark living under Paris is absolutely ridiculous. Hahaha! :)

There Is No Confirmed Reason For Li Bingbing's Meg 2 Absence However, there has been no official reason for the Li Bingbing Meg 2 absence. The only statement that has come to light is that she left for undisclosed reasons and had to be recast.Nov 22, 2023 This gave me some creepy mystery vibes and not in a good way. I pray the actress is ok.
Netflix is really struggling recently. I watched the new Jessica Alba movie, Trigger Effect I think it's called, and it sucks hard, too.
Netflix is specializing in these straight to DVD type affairs now. The last good Netflix exclusive I can think of was Extraction 2, but I like these mindless action flicks. Wouldn't be surprised if most thought it sucked, too.
I honestly found this harder to watch than any of the "Sharknado" movies... at least those know they're shit and are in on the joke. Also: Is "Deep Blue Sea" so iconic by now, that we have to copy certain moments and shots from it...? Really...? :/

I didn't mind this one. I would rate it above the usual B movie trash about predators eating people. The violence isn't gory enough to be scary. I did feel enough tension to be entertained by it. There were times where the sharks appeared somewhat photorealistic. The ending was awesome though. It went from a horror thriller to post apocalyptic.

Sorry Adam, I have to commit the sin of commenting before watching. This movie sucked and why it's been recommended as the best shark film since Jaws is baffling. It reminded me of Jaws 3.
