    Today at Badgerworks, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, we start on the Airfix "D-Day Air Assault" diorama set, first taking a look at the Typhoon. In upcoming videos, we'll look at the vehicles, the figures and, of course, the base of the diorama.

    Looks great. The tooling info should be on the side of the box. But there are 2 boxings of this set. One from 2014 and one from 2019. The Typhoon kit is from 2013.

      It normally is on the side, but I couldn't find it, unfortunately.

    Great job as always. I like that you are so happy to share the bits that aren't so straightforward. Happens to me all the time 😂. Thanks for sharing, really appreciated.

      I generally try to include the awkward bits, because we all struggle with them and misery loves company 🙂

    HINT: When cutting out panels, always cut away from corners rather than towards them, to avoid damage in case of slippage. (I speak from bitter experience.)

    • @SteamGeezerUK
      @SteamGeezerUK  2 місяці тому

      That's very true, but at some point it can be necessary to cut inwards to complete the corner, which can be tricky 🙂

    Great trick with the stripes! Im off to get some 6mm tape now!
    I am curious as to how you manage to do that without the masking tape taking the paint off though, Ive always had to varnish between layers to get the tape to come off clean.

      I really couldn't say. I've never really had an issue with tape peeling paint off, unless the paint hadn't adhered properly in the first place, which was usually down to not priming things properly. I don't even mess about waiting for the paint for 24hrs like some people claim you should. Throw it on, hit it with a hairdryer for a minute, move on to the next colour - it's always worked for me. Are you using the same brand of paint each time?

      @@SteamGeezerUK it will be primer then - I rarely use primer because it always clogs my airbrush. Lesser of two evils perhaps.

      @SteamGeezerUK  2 місяці тому

      @@docbrown_88 I use primer from a rattle can, specifically Hycote grey primer. It works really well on models, miniatures, everything.

    I’m thinking of doing this set, do you need a drill? What can be used if you don’t have one?

    • @SteamGeezerUK
      @SteamGeezerUK  9 днів тому

      A drill would certainly help, and they're not expensive - amzn.to/3yIvVPQ this is the set I used in the video, but you could try gently heating a pin and pushing it through if you don't have one 🙂

    Good grief...that thing required way too much mucking about to get closed up. Patiently done, I'd say.

      Thanks, although there was swearing, trust me 🙂
      As I mentioned in another comment, I like to show the tricky bits, so people watching who struggle don't think they're doing something wrong 🙂
