Guys don't focus on laptop specs only. You can efficiently edit 4k or even 8k clips on older laptop if you create PROXY files of your footage which is very easy. Stronger specs will give you an advantage of efficiency on color grading, multilayer edit, motion graphics, FX and video render time but for simple edits not that much. Well, for most YT creators or just video enthusiasts who want to step into editing world cheaper laptop will do the job. I assume that advanced editors wouldn't need to watch this video as they already know what they need.
I loved the Flow X16 when I saw it at Best Buy. I kept staring at the beautiful screen. I wish the webcam was a little better and as you've mentioned - the FULL SIZED SD CARD slot! I still do not get why manufacturers are shying away from that more and more!
Little note for those looking at the flow X16 (2022 model) I bought one that was on sale for 1,500$ from best buy, and had to return it a total of three times for a brand new one each time because there is a widespread chipset issue plaguing this model of the device. Caused it to randomly BSOD pretty often when on the AC power. Now I am looking at other laptops
I picked up a Dell G15 with a Ryzen 7 5800H and a 3050ti about 6 months ago. That's meeting my (very basic) video editing needs for now but I'm always thinking about repurposing it for something else and getting something even more powerful.
Man I have learned so much from watching your videos ! I went through 3 laptops until o found 1 that does what I need it too. [ ASUS Rog 17 ] just upgraded it from 16gigs RAM - to 32gigs RAM 💪- it had been lightning fast for me . I have been doing 5k and 4k editing and it's working great ! It runs around 11 gigs ( high pointb) rendering the 5k footage! I'm using adobe premiere elements 2023 and these 2 are making a great combo. Just upgraded to the 2023 version from the 2020 version and it seems to really run smooth . Thanks man ! Keep it up on these , I'm always looking to hone the craft 🔪!
In some country's like Germany or Switzerland the Zephyrus G14 in the nicer configurations is out of stock. You might still get the ones with a max of 24Gb of ram, or without a Nebular screen.
Bro I'm not even done watching the video and I already liked and subbed, thank you so much!! I'm trying to upgrade my laptop for my basketball videos and other little projects and I'm learning so much. The info you give your viewers is so beneficial for making the right purchase.
Wow - tough to keep up with you … great presentation. I was surprised to see no mention of Dell. I have the Dell XPS 15 with high spec and I’ve had some issues with it but am now waiting for replacement under warranty. Even with high spec it struggles a little with Fusion etc. in Resolve in 4K so not sure how these lesser machines could cope?
M1/2 Max Macbook Pro 16inch will still be the best laptop for Video Editing Laptops for me. If you work on 3D/play games, yeah, Windows laptops are really for that.
Your Videos have been very helpful as I narrow it down this weekend my first video editing /gaming laptop. Down to legion s7 and asus m16 and asus rog as I want sd card reader.
I'd like to know how you feel about 4K Davinci editing on the Acer Swift Go. It's definitely a budget choice since there's no dedicated GPU and Davinci likes using the GPU but as an amateur editor, can I at least "manage" to get work done on a laptop sporting an i5 13500H? Sad that only Acer and Asus have 16" options for the thin and light laptops with OLED
Hey, can you do a video of the best laptops with SD card readers already integrated? It seems like laptops these days don't have an sd card reader. I feel like for content creators its a most.
Help!!! I'm buying a laptop tomorrow. So should I get the legion 7i ? Or 5 pro?? I'm just doing 4k editing for my UA-cam channel. Only a $100 difference.
Is there any recommendations for a gaming and video editing laptop? I have been searching for awhile and don’t know if I should look for an video editing computer that can play games or a gaming computer that can edit videos?
Hello. I'm in search of a video editing laptop, and I can't decide between Lenovo i7 12700h, rtx3070, 32gb ram, 1 tb ssd and Apple macbook pro 14 m1 pro 10 cpu, 16 gpu, 16gb ram, 1tb ssd. All of my footage will come from action cameras (GoPro). What would you choose? Thank you for your answer!😁😁🍻
Thanks for the reviews. I recently found an Asus Creator Laptop Q530 with the 13th gen i7 in it but I can't find any info about it anywhere. It sports the OLED 16:9 screen and a 3050 graphics card and is built like a literal tank. There is no flex and it's mil-spec tested. I almost bought it but I can't find any info on actual battery life. Do you ever get the Q530 for review?
Question please. I currently own an HP Pavilion "gaming" laptop. I have been doing research lately and it is being said that "gaming" laptops are not necessarily great at video editing. I tend to do most videos in 4k but I am very amateur with gear and my laptop crashes at times even with the Ryzen 4000 series and GEFORCE GTX. 8 GB Ram. Most of what I see you are recommending are labeled "gaming". What are your thoughts on the differences, if there are any. Thank you.

Hello, Ben! Could You please adress the new mobile RTX4070 energy efficiency, especially with regards to 2023 Studiobook? Im on the fence between ordering current version with i7 12th gen and 3070ti (which realistically lies somewhere around 3060ti in laptops) and waiting for the new one, with reportedly 1.5x the performance efficiency in said 4070 - which is obviously announced to be more value for money. Is it worth to wait and possibly pay a couple of hundred € more? Im a EU resident and mainly work in video - Premiere, Davinci, AE and Blender. Love Your channel, peace!

Sick of spending many thousands on a PC for video editing. None of them barely get through 4k compressed footage scrubbing through the timeline so I bought a MAC
Hey Ben, is it better to prioritize RAM or GPU for 4K video editing (Davinci Resolve)? I'm currently looking between 32GB of RAM with a 3050ti or 16GB of RAM with a 3060, thoughts?
Studiobook 2023 sounds very promising. Do you have a setup video for any of these 6K Asus Studio or Zenbook, where you outline which bloatware to remove first?
hi Ben, thank you for the video cause for a dummy like me who is a total beginner is gold. i have a question tho, if someone can kindly aswer would be awesome... i've read that 16 inch display is required to edit 4k, is that true? cause i can see that makes logic but your options are not all 16 inch.
For Maya 3d animators out there that work with character rigs with lots of deformation and only wanted high fps on their Maya viewport, I recommend getting the 12700 with 3060/3070.
So glad to find your channel! Very educative content (: Quick question - if you have any idea, how does Dell XPS 15 perform vs Legion 5i Pro if it comes to video editing? I would much appreciate your input! Thanks!
The whole time, i paid more attention to how he was handling those laptops like they were going to fall! That kept me distracted throughout the vid, lol. Men! those are though machines there
Hi, extremely helpful. I live in Colombia (SA) and there aren't many options available right now and I'm in a very narrow budget, somewhere around $1200. Legion laptops are outdated here. ,Ay be the best options are an IdeaPad Gaming 3i (16GB core i7 12700H - 3050Ti) and a Yoga Slim Pro X (16GB Ryzen 7 6800HS - GTX 1650 4GB DDR6). What do you think of the 1650 for light 4k video editing? I like the design of the Yoga and may be its 3K display, but if it gets short for the task, perhaps I should go for the IdeaPad... 🤔 Thanks for any advice.
So confused. Can anyone help…I am new to video editing and will be keeping it super simple for my YT. I need to use this laptop for my online coaching business, canva digital products, simple video editing. WHAT should I get!!!!
I have an expensibe ASUS zenbook i7, 16GB - far better than one you recommend there and I can tell you from my 2 year experience with it that you shouldn't recommend anything without dedicated GPU. On my Zenbook I can "edit" 8K video with proxy files, but it depends what you mean by "editing". Any fusion effect (Davinci) will make the laptop sh*t itself and die. Overheats and crashes often, few times a day when you editing. So, you should define "editing" when you recommend these laptops with integrated graphics. It can only cut the footage and apply transitions... Nothing more.
Hi Ben These laptops seem sufficient for content creation video editors however would they be able to cope with event videographers workload. (Several hours of video) Trying to figure out windows laptop, macbook, or desktop pc for new workhorse. Much appreciated.
Seriously great content. I love the rapid fire recommendations and specific CPU GPU recommendations so you can apply it to other laptops rather than sticking with specific models of brand
I have heard that Intel has the edge over AMD-Ryzen for editing of 4K video footage from the latest mirrorless cameras, which will often be in highly condensed formats such as h.265, and at high bit rates such as 10 bit 4.2.2. It seems that the 11th, 12th and now the 13th gen Intel CPUs have iGPUs that include hardware acceleration, media encoders and decoders, that make the editing of such highly condensed, high quality footage, much easier. But has this been your experience? (I've also heard that Apple computers also do very well in editing the newer 4K video formats--that they do as well or possibly a bit better than Intel.)
Thank you for this video. I just ordered the Lenovo 5 but upgraded it to 32g ram and 1tb ssd using your link. I tried to use my existing laptop that works great for Photo editing and quickly found how underpowered it is for video. With your vid I was able to find what I need for the price point the works for us.
What do you think about the Lenovo Yoga 7 with Ryzen 6800U and 32GB RAM? How is it for videoediting and gaming compared with the Yoga 7i 1260P or compared with a similar laptop with a dedicated GPU?
If you’re editing 1080p or light 4K the two mentioned laptops would work great! A dedicated GPU laptop would have the advantage of performance, but disadvantage of battery life
@@BenGKaiser Thank you! I finally got the Yoga 7 with Ryzen 6800U and it's great especially for battery life and portability, however, It has a very annoying lag with the touchpad, the cursor gets stuck and you have to repeat the movement with the touchpad. Moreover, once each few days the laptop freezes and needs to be restarted through the power bottom, and sometimes the keyboard does not catch all keys when typing. Some suggestion? Thank you
Always nice to keep an eye on latop market watching your content. I saw that Asus announced at CES a new zenbook pro 14. I am always in search of the best balance power - on the go machine, and this seems to be a dream come true. I am curious to have your review when you will get your hands on it !
I would be real hesitant to buy an ASUS. Over the past few years they have had a wide variety of failures in their laptops, which is fine, but their customer service on dealing with those failures has been slow, ineffective and (in some cases) rude. So if you do go with ASUS please go in knowing that if you do get a lemon you may be unable to get it fixed or replaced and you'll be out a fair amount of money. I bought an ASUS STRIX SCAR 15 about 9 months ago and it was nothing but problems. There was screen flickering that happened randomly, the wifi card just stopped working for a week without warning (but then fixed itself without any explanation) and worst of all the battery charger brick would over heat and force the safety switch to activate which would throttle down the performance. And it would throttle after playing Civilization 6 for 45 minutes, which is not a very demanding game on a brand new laptop! But with that many problems I decided that after roughly 3 weeks I would just return it. I am not saying all ASUS laptops are bad but when they are bad, they are REALLY BAD and they may not be able to or willing to fix your laptop for you. You might be better off avoiding them for this generation until other people report back that their product quality or their customer service has improved.
I'm sorry, but You don't mention 4k 100p/120p editing at all... and You don't say anything about codecs. I'm talking about people who use for example A7S III. Then I think 64GB RAM is minimum + You need probably those new 13 generation i7 or i9 CPU's... Especially when You have 40 - 60 minutes project with multiple track. Don't You think so? Ps. i7-12700H is not the best CPU for high level video editing, as far as I know
I bought a zenbook 14 oled with ryzen 7 5825u 16gb ram.. it is too slow for video editing in davinci resolve.. so slow that it crashes in a while.. not sure what to think about your recommendations as you also recommend a ryzen 5 in this video.
So as my current laptops fan makes problems after repairing it once, I decide I need a new laptop. I want to be able to edit videos in 4k within davinci resolve and also edit thumbnails within photoshop on the go. Therefore the asus rog g14 zephyrus 2022 and the macbook pro m1 or m2 pro are in the mix. Price wise the Asus makes more sense, but I think the performance is better on macbook on the go. Any advice? Or should I wait?

I loved the Flow X16 when I saw it at Best Buy. I kept staring at the beautiful screen. I wish the webcam was a little better and as you've mentioned - the FULL SIZED SD CARD slot! I still do not get why manufacturers are shying away from that more and more!
I think its because micro sd is more prevalent
I got myself an Omen 16 with i7 12700h and RTX 3050ti (80+15watts) and it's really fast in 4k video editing.

No, display doesnt matter. MacBook Pro also has a 14" version.
@@TestTest-dr2qy thanks in fact i bought mac book pro 14,2" with 16 gb ram
The way you're handling laptops in this video is triggering me on an insane level. Please handle them with care.
studio book 1000 off microcenter
Correction the Flow X16 and X13 have 32GB RAM.
What about asus vivobook?
How would you reccomend hp victus? It has great specs, however thr color accuracy is terrible.

I have had Apple for 12 years and I hate Them!
What's Andrew Garfield doing reviewing laptops
Do NOT get AMD 5000 if you want to ensure you get Windows version updates for at least 5 years.
great video.
For Maya 3d animators out there that work with character rigs with lots of deformation and only wanted high fps on their Maya viewport, I recommend getting the 12700 with 3060/3070.
So glad to find your channel! Very educative content (:
Quick question - if you have any idea, how does Dell XPS 15 perform vs Legion 5i Pro if it comes to video editing? I would much appreciate your input! Thanks!
Yes. but for me is late
Nothing more.
that's what I am thinking!
Hi Ben
These laptops seem sufficient for content creation video editors however would they be able to cope with event videographers workload. (Several hours of video)
Trying to figure out windows laptop, macbook, or desktop pc for new workhorse.
Much appreciated.
Mini led 16"screens and haptic trackpad are worth the wait
Asus zephyruss g14 is the best but the heat on the screen from the fans makes me go to macbook m2 air
"Mama! Looks like the farm is buying me a new laptop!"
Fantastic guide. Thank you much.
WHY DONT YOU COVER THE LEGION 7I PRO 4090 BROOOO comeee on legion 4070 7i pro everytime
Thank you for this video. I just ordered the Lenovo 5 but upgraded it to 32g ram and 1tb ssd using your link. I tried to use my existing laptop that works great for Photo editing and quickly found how underpowered it is for video. With your vid I was able to find what I need for the price point the works for us.
how’s the laptop?
@nickperez4106 Works great! Am able to edit video no problems so far. Have had no issues at all. (Knock on wood) Really happy with my purchase.
@@krispy1k that’s great to hear getting it soon
Thank you for all the information you provide us. This channel is one of the best honest channels I have watched ❤
Thanks Lion!

why the jump from integrated graphics to rtx? are gtx not worth it?
I can't find a new legion 5 with rtx3060, for $750 new
would asus vivobook 15 oled be gd for the job. saw it on sale
Thank you
Can you edit video with lenovo legion go?
100K soon,

Always nice to keep an eye on latop market watching your content.
I saw that Asus announced at CES a new zenbook pro 14. I am always in search of the best balance power - on the go machine,
and this seems to be a dream come true.
Ps. i7-12700H is not the best CPU for high level video editing, as far as I know
Thanks for this video ♥️ love from India 🇮🇳 , please make for video 4k editing pc build guide 🙏
