    are waist belts considered a restraint

    • @kaylathomas8236
      @kaylathomas8236 3 роки тому

      Waist belts that attach the pt to a bed or chair? Or using a waist belt for assisting with ambulation?

    • @LevelUpRN
      @LevelUpRN  3 роки тому +3

      A waist belt that keeps a patient secured to the bed is a restraint. A gait belt to help a patient safely ambulate is not. Hope that helps! -Meris

    in reality sometimes patients ARE restrained when its not medically necessary.....if the patient is cussing and being loud and disruptive or difficult but not a danger self or to others, sometimes overworked nurses do have them restrained. Its a fine line the justification for it.
