In an age where computerised engineering and mass manufature has become the norm, it's great to see 'the little guy' bringing to this niche marketplace a cleverly thought-out gizmo that brings precision and efficiency to a manual process. Loved it 💖
I so appreciate your videos Jake! I watched 5 minutes and went directly to Ebay and placed my order. I do not have much technical experience and am very willing to learn and you have the best videos on the web. Thanks again my friend.
That way to fletch the spin wings is really a nice tip. And actually prepare some and put the ready to use in the bow case. Might even need the baby powder anymore.
I've tried about every tower and jig for Xs Wings (including the Beiter Tri-Liner) and found the most simple and sturdy to be the Spigarelli Spiga Marker 120X3. Aligns on the pin-nock pin so nock dimensions are irrelevant. Holds the arrow securely in alignment with thumb screws. No "drag" om arrow as it's removed. Easy to pack in tournament bag with spare wings.
That pre tape tip has been around forever. Back when I was competing indoors, all of the recurve shooters had there tape already on their spin wings ahead of time. They could replace one vane while standing on the shooting line.
Hey Jake Sorry for asking this question again in the comments but I just so desperately want to know the answer. We see some people who have been training with dedication for years and not achieving any significant results and some people who started much later and even train much lesser than other people and still achieve really great results and that is in under the same coaching. So apart from coaching and hard work what is it that determines success in this sport. Bring at the top of the game yourself I am sure you would know the answer. Thank you I really appreciate your work from the other side of the globe.
I was skeptical at first thinking this gonna be so clickbait but damn, that's so much better than taping the shaft and then applying the spinwings to it 👍👍👍
The Wing Thing looks great, combine with Jakes method for applying the tape to the spin wing and that would the perfect setup. Should get your friend to send Jake a Wing Thing. archerylab.shop/products/the-wing-thing-fletching-jig-rev-2/
I use the Wing Thing as well. Once I got the hang of getting the correct consistent finger pressure either side of the Wing holder so that the wings slide on the shaft perfectly straight each time, I've found it a great tool.
I use the Bohning tape for feathers and have wondered about trying it with spin wings so definitely going to give it a try with Jakes method. I’ve just ordered a Wing Thing as well as it looks great. Not exactly sure when it will arrive in the UK from Australia but will be trying it all out on my ACE’s with KSL Jet vanes and Bohning tape. I love fletching arrows and hopefully this will make a better job of spin wings.
In figuring it out myself several years ago (before I switched to AAE WAV vanes) I would apply all of my tape to the shafts (all 36 pieces), peel all the backings from one arrow (3) and apply the mylar vanes of choice. Once done with the dozen, I'd apply the finish tape (also only at the front edge). Seemed to go by pretty quickly for me that way, though next time I fletch my compound arrows (wait what?!!?!?! mylar vanes on compound arrows while using 'plastic' vanes for recurve, are you nuts?!?!?!) I'll have to give the method in the video a go :)
I use a liquid chrome pen by Molotow with a 1mm tip for marking and dries very fast, shows up very well on my ACE's. Love the pre taping of the fletchings, will definitely try that. The Bohning tape doesn't work well for me some some reason, I find the tape with the XS Wings I use to be good and found it in a huge reel for not much money. Out of interest, on the jig, is the inside of each arm concave or just flat? If it was concave, sliding the arrow in would be easier as the arm would align to the arrow, regardless of the arrow diameter and not slip of to the side.
Jake could you please message me regarding where I can get one of these Spinwing Alighning Gig please, as I can’t seem to find the link to. It. Thank you so very much for your Coaching input. Adrian UK
Jake , Just a quick question- What is your uncorrected natural eyesight? Is it 20/20, 20/15 or even better? I’m doing a survey of top elite athletes and military special forces. Let me know. Thanks Leon
So, it's a beiter tri liner without the rotation knob to adapt to your personal tune and with o-rings pre-installed? Yeah I'll stick with the original.
To curve pre installed, thick rubber fletching: double wrap a small but wide rubber band (medium tight) starting 1/4 way up the front fletching & wrap to the end, to hold the left curve spin (you formed), in place. While turning, blow dry fletching with even heat 3"- 6" above it for about 20 sec then blast with cool air for 10 sec to set the form. Remove rubber band, a level of curvature should hold on its own.🎯 Fletching thickness & material varies, adjust heat accordingly to prevent damage. May not work with certain fletching types. Test finished arrow for performance & curvature adjustments before proceeding. 🏹
They only work if a company will defend it. International patents are extremely pricey and equally pricey to defend. I don’t see an infringement based on other designs that exist. But if there was a patent filing I’d be interested in reading it.
Just to point out the obvious, that spin wing jig tool is a knock off of the Beiter tool of some 25yrs ago, I still have one in my fletching tool kit, Beiter tool is way better made & easier to operate.
In an age where computerised engineering and mass manufature has become the norm, it's great to see 'the little guy' bringing to this niche marketplace a cleverly thought-out gizmo that brings precision and efficiency to a manual process. Loved it 💖
Nothing new about the tool, it's a rip off of a Beiter from 2 decades ago.
Thanks fir video there very helpful for me grew up shooting back yard buddys type shooting im trying get into bare bow thank you for your time

Thanks for this video and for all of the other awesome content. I'm a new archer and your tutorials have been invaluable.
Thanks for the vid and review on the jig. I have ordered the jig and the tape. Anything to make this job easier :)
I used the given tape for a similar method but now I know there's rolls of this type of tape. Thanks for sharing, jake 👍
Nice tip for spinwing fletching. I think I wil try the tape
I was just about to fletch a new set. Great timing Jake
It’s very very usefull.,
Thank u Jake
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
That way to fletch the spin wings is really a nice tip. And actually prepare some and put the ready to use in the bow case. Might even need the baby powder anymore.
love this way of fletching spin vanes , saves a lot of time. Many thanks
genius idea taping the tape to the bench!
Awesome tip! That’s going to make fletching spinnys so much quicker. Thanks for sharing.
Why have I never thought of this?!? Great stuff as always, Jake!
That us indeed a great tip. Having fletches ready to go in the field should you lose one while shooting is a big help.

Aaaaahhh! Just like the Beiter Tri-Liner that I have been using for the last 15 years
What a great tip. So obvious when you know about it. Why don't the spin wing type manufacturers actually do this?
I could cry tears of joy right now.
Great video. thank you.
That pre tape tip has been around forever. Back when I was competing indoors, all of the recurve shooters had there tape already on their spin wings ahead of time. They could replace one vane while standing on the shooting line.
Nice jig. Yes please. Can do lines along edge of the fletch holder on a regular fetching jig but this is less faff

See? All the questions answered I was too self conscious to ask at my archery store
Of course I knew what spin wings were ....whatta ya take me for?
thanks you ...............now i knew how to use bohning tape .... i usually waste lots of tape when fletching 😃😃😃😃
Jake you should have a look at the Wing Thing, it's a purpose built spin wing fletching jig my friend designed.
That is slick.
The Wing Thing looks great, combine with Jakes method for applying the tape to the spin wing and that would the perfect setup. Should get your friend to send Jake a Wing Thing. archerylab.shop/products/the-wing-thing-fletching-jig-rev-2/
That is sweet

Bottom could be a screw cap with degree graduations, allowing off zero fletchings.

Hey Jake, thanks for the awesome video always. What black tape was that that you used to wrap the vanes?
good question! Id like to know as well.
hm I think it might be similar to this stuff : Spinwing Anchor Tape ZF39
Great timing, I was just about to install my first set of spin-wings.
why did you stop using them?

It looks like the jig is no longer available? Is there something else you'd recommend for marking the lines?
Jake can you show us the difference between standard 1”3/4 spin-wing vs the VLD spin-wings?
Does spin wind vane are good for compound bow?? Exemple gas pro spin vane 4.18" vane (indoor)???
Jake could you let me know where I buy one of these liners please, thank you
Adrian
So, a right handed archer would attach the fetching on the righthand of the paint markings. Left hand on the left of the marking? Or does it matter?
Jake could you please message me regarding where I can get one of these Spinwing Alighning Gig please, as I can’t seem to find the link to. It.
Thank you so very much for your Coaching input. Adrian UK
Could this jig allow the taping/gluing the fletch/vanes on directly with the jig on the shaft for optimum accuracy of placement?
New to archery be here. What is barebow?
Jake, what is the ideal distance from the nock I must put the base of the vanes?
Nice tip! If the vanes are not align with the nock, do you turn the nock or the jig have nock catcher in the right position?
I just noticed that Bieter makes a product that's almost identical to this called the Tri Liner. What's your opinion on this and is it a knock off?
Jake ,
Just a quick question- What is your uncorrected natural eyesight? Is it 20/20, 20/15 or even better?
I’m doing a survey of top elite athletes and military special forces.

Thanks

Great tips! Is there a way to use the liner (this one or any other one) to draw offset lines?
Just use a normal jig& offset as desired!
I have no idea why they aren't just sold PRE-TAPED.
Can't you use pretty much any fletching jig? Put the shaft in, draw a line against the fletch holder and rotate around.
Remove rubber band, a level of curvature should hold on its own.🎯
Fletching thickness & material varies, adjust heat accordingly to prevent damage. May not work with certain fletching types. Test finished arrow for performance & curvature adjustments before proceeding. 🏹
what about this Jake ua-cam.com/video/enaUbK3AQJA/v-deo.html ?
did you tried this out?
I'm the only one thinking of patents or copyrights?
