"Gamblers at a roulette table looking to double their money traditionally face the choice of putting it all on black or red. And on Black / Red, their landmark 12th album, Feeder also go for a high-stakes double: 18 tracks, two “discs” and one raised middle finger to today’s supposedly TikTok-ravaged short attention spans.
Luckily, if there’s any band that could be described as a sure thing, it’s probably Feeder. There’s barely been a misstep across those dozen records and while this trilogy-concluding follow-up to 2022’s excellent Torpedo is certainly ambitious, Grant Nicholas and Taka Hirose emerge with their high-rolling reputations enhanced.
The ’Black’ disc continues Torpedo’s hard-rocking renaissance, the tightly wound classic rock riffing of Playing With Fire and the expansive, cinematic landscape of ELF striking a charming juxtaposition with the irresistible pop rush of Hey You. ‘Red’ isn’t quite as heavy, but it’s just as intense, stuffed with Feeder’s ’00s trademark: melody-drenched, emotive alternative-rock anthems such as Sleeping Dogs Lie, Unconditional and Here Comes The Hurricane.
Feeder are still more than capable of springing a surprise - lord alone knows what odds you’d have got on the poignant Soldiers Of Love sporting a bagpipes intro, 30 years after they first blasted out of South Wales. But as that song rails against a world 'When you feel nothing is real', you’ll realise that - whether you have time to hear these songs all together or listen to them in splendid isolation - Black / Red is an authentic representation of a great band in full, long-distance flight.
And, if you’re looking for a band to keep it real in a world of fakes, you could do a lot worse than to put it all on Feeder."

What a performance, this is the best Feeder live clip i have ever seen and I have seen many...always great to see Jon behind the kit. Liked Feeders image they promoted then, quality track, one of the best! Swim:Resurfaced is a great album too.

I disagree. Love the album, second best before polythene. Anesthetic, hole in my head, insomnia and tinsle town all stick out for me too, in fact I love every track.
Awesome band and song, seen them 5 times live and they were brilliant everytime but i think this is the best video of a performance on here!

i miss this Feeder era
I'm the french guy who recorded that on VHS at the time. It was 3 days after I discovered the band on another french TV, MCM, where I recorded the MCM Café gig which is also on the web ;-) We had great TV channels in France at this time... all gone now :-(

TheAstronomyFloyd - Probably because he's almost as good as Kurt was and he also doesn't go in for all the "Look at me - I'm a Rock-Star" bullshit!!. I've met him and he was so down-to-earth!!. A nicer guy you couldn't hope to meet!!. An AMAZINGLY Talented Lyricist AND Musician all-round!!. KEEP IT UP GRANT - We need musicians like you and band's like FEEDER To drown out all the shite that we hear in the charts these days!!.

It was a very special song for me & Jon's( Jon Lee) . You could see his special feelings on this song every time he plaid ! He told me all the time when we were close! I wish if I could tell you more,but I can't! But I'm very happy that people feel that way about this one!

Jon wrote more !All the credits are not true ! The industry is notorious for that ! Please don't believe those & what they claim & never trust tabloids. ! Jon was the most talented in Feeder ! He was the most gifted musician & one of the best composers I've ever met/ known in my life ! And he NEVER laid his hand on a woman ! The sweetest man I've ever known ! Far far away from violent , he was the man who had lots of compassions & empathy & generosity ! I miss him dearly !
