Best game so far in the group stage. Great performance by Origen and just out team fighted LGD. Despite Imp trying to solo carry for his entire team and nearly doing it in the mid game. That one team fight in the middle lane was the turning point with Xpeke getting that massive Shockwave off and getting the quadra kill. TBQ had a miserable game and he played that team fight horribly and was constantly caught out. He had 6 deaths for his team. Huge reason why his team lost but not the only reason why they did.
1) Picks and bans its safe to say Origen baited in the Lulu pick by LGD. They banned out the Lee Sin and basically said here are the 2 OP picks that you need to figure you want to pick. Lulu or Elise. LGD prioritized the Lulu and Origen locked in the Elise. And that set LGD into a very predictable Juggermaw comp which Origen saw coming all the way.
2) LGD even though they locked in the Kog Maw, they really set themselves up for failure by not adding any more threats to their team comps. LGD were a one threat comp, you can't count on Lulu to be a major damage source and Vi and Malphite all went tank. It all rested on Imp to carry, but if Imp ever got killed then it was fight over and in the end game over for LGD because those team fights were going against LGD.
3) Do not like the Malphite pick and I am really glad the west didn't pick up on this pick. Tanky yes, but its such a one dimensional champion. You ultimate in and either win the team fight or you do nothing the whole game. Malphite cannot lock down a champion like a Maokai can, nor does he have the damage to help counter a split push from Vladimir or for that matter any Juggernaut champion in this meta. Origen really played around this and Soaz really had a massive advantage over Acorn on his Malphite.
And lets not forget the massive overhype by the analyst desk and of course pundits out there who have written about the China scene. Both IG who they picked to win over Fnatic and LGD have now lost to 2 European teams. Both of these wins are massive statement wins for Europe as a region and for me, I am loving it watching them rise up and show how good they are. This has been a fantastic Worlds so far. I am hoping more from the west and I will be cheering every team on.

I just wanted to make a small correction here, all three on the analyst desk predicted Fnatic to win over IG. Given their current attitude to some of the western teams vs eastern, I'm somewhat surprised they didn't predict IG....but yeah, they actually sided with FNC on that one.

YEEEESS. suck it, LPL! The west is looking good this year, boys! What a performance by OG and especially Peke. I always expect him to show up when it matters. OG might not be the strongest overall, but the experience goes a long way. Not a bad start to worlds for Neils either. Expect him to be the best ADC in the world soon. At least, I think he will get there. Way to go, Origen!

AfflicXIon I can agree with that. IG and LGD are inconsistent, with that being very true for IG.
IG is a streaky team. With streaks of highs then streaks of lows.
EDG is the only elite team from China with consistent high level of play. Just LGD and IG has a higher skill cap of play when they are ON. Whenever KaKao/Rookie or Imp and GodV shows up big to hard carry.
Or uniquely for LGD when TBQ doesn't decide to be dead weight.

wow China off to a very slow start. I expect them to ramp up but EU has been doing really well. OG and Fnatic are threats forsure. NA doesnt even have a chance vs EU. EU is on a different level this season boys. Despite this LGD will still win this group. They are good and OG just had a better game today.

this is the beginning of the tournament. these are just bo1, anything can happen. I think this is china just getting out played and underestimating their opponents. its typical for the western fans to get cocky after a few wins like this tho. we shall see.

But in all seriousness I don't think this will really affect how Group D will turn out in the end. Remember last year Fnatic took a game off Samsung Blue but they still ended up as the top seed whilst Fnatic didn't make it out.

Anyone that Dives the Back has a Malphite Ult, a Vi, all diving back to delete. Kog still alive, still has Braum eating damage and Lulu to Buff him big.

A lot of people expected OG to get out of groups, but by defeating KT not by defeating LGD. Still jugermaw comps are pretty easy to predict, just take out the kogmaw and you win the fight. Easier said than done, because this is Imp we are talking about, a contender for the best league of legends player in the world. That's the guy you build a comp around. Eu has shown up in Paris, that's for sure. Even H2K didn't get completely stomped by edg and skt, so perhaps the EU region is strong. To NA's credit yeah CLG looked sloppy vs flash wolves, but SPOILERS: FW beat KOO. Perhaps the gap is not as big anymore between the west and east as we thought, or perhaps China is a weaker region then the rest. Still i think EDG is the best team in China, because they just choked in the playoffs and lost to both LGD and IG, but overall had a better year than both. SKT looks slightly shaky, so i am not sure how things might go, but as far as the world champion, my pick is still EDG, but now no one can be 100% sure who the finalists can be, because so far the west has shown up and even NA teams can pull an upset or 2. This year the western teams have a bigger chance at winning worlds in over 2 years and it's no longer the domination of either SKT or SSW in the last 2 years. No team is immortal.

Actually EDG roflstomped h2k. It was clean systematic destruction. Skt had a not so clean showing vs h2k. EDG is the strongest LPL for sure. Everyone is forgetting how inconsistent LGD and IG were this year
Kai Hamasaki I didn't forget that and right now while i type this comment there are 2 minutes left before the SKT EDG game though there are still questions of the power of the top west teams against EDG or SKT. OG beat LGD, that means FNC can do the same. The real test for me is EDG, because SKT has shown weakness.

Eu is only Fnatic they said. That takes me back to S3 when everyone beat everyone in the EU LCS and everyone thought EU was bad since there was little gap between top and bottom tier and a 4 way tie for 2nd place. Then eu smashed at worlds.

The thing is everyone talks about how amazing LGD's team is but if you actually look at their team they are heavily reliant on Imp and PYL, which is their strongest matchup, their solo lane and Jungle matchup is actually a lot weaker than what people say it is.
Acorn is usually pretty beast, but imo TBQ is ducking f horrible. Defo the weak link on lgd

+Connor Calder that's because of what comp they were running, if you run juggermaw then you have the kog as your only damage and the rest protecting him. In this meta they will be reliant on acorn too for the fact that carry tops are the thing now.
14ccr Yes but that is not the style that they run, It is not a slight against Acorn its just that is not really his style, The solo matchups in lane are not that great but imp in a teamfight makes them ridiculous (he was the whole reason they beat EDG)

LGD is number 1 team from china? i thought EDG was, especially when they are the only ones that beat SKT in MSI (in the finals, unless another team did also) and the fact they as well as SKT went on like 13+ win streak in their own regions recently. Am i missing something?

For me, it's more a LGD mistake than OG playing super good... Let me explain my point (btw I'm a absolute fan of FNC and OG, always cheering up for my fellow frenchies)
LGD just didn't respected the fact that Origen had an Oriana in their comp. They played like if it was a normal midlane like a Varus or I don't know.... Just look, they were grouped against an Ori, why would you do that ? Also they just didn't respected Origen strenghts in this game. Acorn didn't performed, doing nearly nothing with his Malph pick in this game. LDG didn't capitalized on sOAz misspositionning during like half of the game... I just think that LGD wasn't respecting OG at all and thinking it would be quite an easy victory because hey, 3rd European seed and everybody knows that EU sucks (NA analysts and caster, this taunt is for you)
