Upon his introduction, Shide makes an analogy about the situation they're in saying it's like the 2D character in a game becomes aware of the fact he's 2D and tries to destroy the game console of the 3D world. Now in this episode we have Karikiri talking about playing all kinds of games as a hobby, and I don't know if I remember it right but I think he has mentioned gaming at some point before, but I'm not too sure about that.

Katsuyuki is fantastic as Shide, he might be one of my favorite anime villains in recent years. And Roshi, you shoulda said King Crimson instead, since he played Diavolo too. And Uzui, Kamina etc.

As far as I'm concerned, what sets works of fiction apart from one another: stakes. Simply put, the actions/decisions of the characters must have consequences. And those consequences must be followed through. That's what separates something like Summertime Rendering from other shows. Every decision that Shinpei makes has downstream effects. Even with his looping taken into account. Such a great show.

I think the statement "It makes you think about how to end your life" can be taken in either way. Either through misery, or thinking how to leave a meaningful mark. Like, ending it on a good note.
If shinpei had shot shide himself, nothing would happen to Ushio because with the sign of the third shoot everyone would attack the shrine and ushio would not come out. And even ushio telled him to shoot because she didn't sense any shadows but unfortunately shinpei hesitated because he was too nice and Ushio had to do it for him. And the whole idea of talking with shide was a mistake form shinpei.
The question is, who was the Shide killed by Ushio?? At first I thought he copied himself and then the real one was hiding, but this wouldn't explain how Ushio didn't sense it. Unless the show will tell us later, my only guess that the one who was killed is the mother since she knows that no one can kill her by regular means.
@@Accomplish305 I think one of the Shides is the others father. Since we learned how he kept "cloning" himself using his children it would make sense that both the father Shide and the son Shide would be alive. Ushio also wasn't able to sense his sneak attack so that means that he isn't a shadow.

While Shinpei(Subaru) trying to convince Shide like Subaru did in that one eps being naive, believe he can change the mindset of people living with 300years ideology. The difference is that Roswaal works behind a shadow, while Shide literally in a shadow lmao. And yeah, still hoping Ushio can get back, the only hope I got is previous eps when she unconsciously connected with Haine, the problem is just either she will reborn as good Ushio or bad Ushio, like foreshadowed by Ryuzuru in the shower "she will kill Ushio herself if bad Ushio happened"

She did travel with him. She always travels with him and preserves all of her "data", unlike the others who return exactly to how they were in a previous point of time. For example if she copies a nailgun and then goes back in time, she still has the nailgun data. That means that if Ushio is killed before going back in time, her deadness is preserved as well.
