- I found this crusty skillet at a local thrift store. I recognized it was a Wagner Ware from the handle.
While cleaning it up, it smelled like fish. I suspect some old man used it for years on fishing trips and just never cleaned it. He just greased it up and got it hot.
There's a little pitting on the bottom. The cook surface is pretty pristine. I did get the seasoning a little thick.
Cheers!
Great pan.
Very nice!
I would almost bet momey my grandfather cast that pan
That's cool I take it he worked for Wagner then?
That's awesome.
@@imacrashtestdumy if i remember correctly he started there for a penny per mold . I remember grandma picking me up from school taking me over there while he was working. He eneded up getting electricuted on the job at wagners due to another employee being negligent that ended his career there. After that they tried to deny him his pension and he had to get a laeyer and fight them. We all got full sets of magnalite when we turned 18 even us grandkids. I have some of his old wagnerware i need to get restored
Melted lead for years in a few of my favorite cast iron pans, kept them in the work shop. Someone stole them, sure hope they are only cooking for themselves.
bunch o’ haters in here man🤣 nice find dude!
Yeah, just a name. My lodge cooks fine.
Lodge makes decent cookware.
Never cared for my Wagners. They are thin and warp i have experienced in a few. Griswold is a good one.
True.
And everything that you cook in it is going to taste fishy
I hope not.
Just buy one that isn’t junk… what’s your time worth
