Just stumbled upon your videos I love watching you explore abandoned New England because I can sit on my couch and watch all the places that I would absolutely love to go to, but you do it for me and also some of my husband‘s family actually worked on the Housatonic tunnel congratulations on one year. Cheers to many more adventures
Going in to that tunnel is an awful idea. Its shocking how quickly a train will surprise you 😅 gotta visit at night, its eerie as all hell when a train comes through. If somehow you were stuck in there for a train, you gotta hang on to those cables or get behind them in some areas. The pressure created from the train will suck you right into its path if it isn't moving slow or stopping.
Yeah, even though I went inside the tunnel a little bit, I’m too scared to go any deeper in just because of how dangerous those trains are lol… it’s scary stuff!
If you explore further above the tunnel there are a few alignment towers left. Those were used to make the tunnel was being dug and designed in a straight path as possible. The line also at one point was electrified and doubled tracked. There is also an abandon building by the train bridge close to the deerfield river if I remember correctly that was the pump house so much to explore in that one area alone. Also you can visit the central shaft building which is located on Central Shaft road not far from the tunnel and if your lucky you see how it clears exhausts from the tunnel when trains go through
Imagine being able to take a train from Williamstown to Boston. I used to drive route 2 all the time to visit my brother in North Adams. Seemed like it was always snowing in Florida.
That sounds awesome, good luck! One place you should check out is Ashintully Gardens in Tyringham, MA-I’ve never been, but it looks wicked cool! It’s the ruins of a early 20th century mansion.
Yeah. We visited Bash Bish Falls in Mt. Washington Mass . We visited it 3weeks ago, the Mass entrance was blocked for repairs, but we took the New York entrance from Copake NY. If you've never been there, it is the making of an awesome adventure video.
Very cool video. I checked out the tunnel a few months ago. It looks like they were definitely upgrading the center shaft exhaust fans with those new blue ones. Thanks for the great follow up / anniversary video!
Thx for the acknowledgment! Fun to see my name on TV! 🙃 I look forward to your future videos. Maybe more CT as I used to live there (Eastern). I’m in MD now. Would love to see you expand beyond New England! Take care!
congrats on a year man! you've given me a ton of cool locations I've checked out. planning on making a vid on the raytheon facility in bedford? super cool place I got into not too long ago.
Thanks man! That’s a place that’s been on my radar for quite some time now, so I definitely wanna check it out very soon! All the pictures I’ve seen of it look wicked dope.
Hi.. I came across your video by accident and now I am hooked. It was so cool to see you film locations near my area. Most of the urban explorers that I see on UA-cam are no where near the new England/mass area. I have been out to the tunnel multiple times and love it each time. On one visit I was lucky enough to be up walking around the central exhaust shaft and the giant old fans kicked on to vent the passing train. Was so cool to hear and see. Have you ever tried to explore the old prison camps out in rutland ma in the state park? Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Thanks so much man, I appreciate the kind words! The Hoosac Tunnel truly is a fascinating spot! Also, I’ve been to the Rutland Prison Camps many times, and I even filmed a video there back in the summer of 2022!
Brick ceiling cubby-hole is remains of “The False Start”. Early rotary stone cutting machine was heralded but stuck fast after a few yards. Rock sides and back show cutting motion. 85% filled with debris and most scrap metal removed, its a creepy place. New start made at present location.
@@j-mass here's a link to that video it's 12 minutes in if you want to hear how I said it; ua-cam.com/video/OweWMl5HBRg/v-deo.htmlsi=S6Csm7g4diSF8Obw it's part of this Scary top 10 list series I'm doing, I'm gonna be writing a script for the New York one soon, so if you have a location you want me to mention you found creepy I'll love to hear it....
I’ll definitely check it out! A pretty obscure creepy location in New York is Untermyer Park in Yonkers; check out its relation to the Son of Sam and the Satanic cult that used to conduct disturbing rituals there. I visited a few weeks ago!
My apologies, I forgot to reply to that! So during the Civil War, construction did still continue, but progress was significantly slower than pre-war construction. It wasn’t until after the war’s end, in 1865, when progress continued as normal. Thanks for tuning in!
Super interesting visit and important history. For anyone else interested in going in... don't. Its worth noting, under state law trespassing on a railroad easement is an arrestable offense in MA. Chapter 160 Section 218. Whoever knowingly, without right is present, stands, walks, or rides a bicycle, snow vehicle, recreational or other vehicle on the right-of-way, bridge, or other property of, or used or controlled by any railroad corporation, except at a highway or other authorized grade crossing and except on rights-of-way formally abandoned pursuant to state or federal law and no longer owned by said railroad corporation or rights-of-way owned by said railroad corporation but which have been converted or leased specifically for use as a bicycle or walking path in accordance with state or federal laws, shall be fined $100 or shall be required to perform a total of 50 hours of community service which may include service in the operation lifesaver program, so-called. Any person violating this section may be arrested without a warrant by any police officer, including railroad police, and proceeded against according to law.
@@Richb750 Always... but I am a bunch more fun after the party when you have your phone call. It's a ridiculous law that is very inconsistently enforced, but one officer having a bad day could really ruin yours. Folks walk the tracks in a bunch of places in Western MA all the time but the R.R. had the rules written with a lot of bite for the cases where the want to make a point.
Congrats on a year! That's awesome!
Thanks a ton, I appreciate that!

My partner Steven and I are from Boston and try to discover a new place to video each month.
We're focusing on the Berkshires in July ..

Congrats on one year! You came a long way. Been a subscriber since you 1st started your channel 💯
I appreciate that man, means a lot to me! Always love seeing your comments!
Hey JMASS. You didn't go all the way to the waterfalls . You stopped short. They are impressive, especially in high water.
I realized that when I was editing the video 😭 I looked online and saw that I missed some more waterfalls further down the trail. Ugh! Next time!
Full circle, cant believe its only been a year! Keep going!
Thanks homie, I really appreciate that! Thanks for sticking around since Day 1 means a lot!!!

Wow, thanks for the information on that spot!
Great video.
it's right around 54 degrees in there. Once you get in a ways. Stays the same no matter the season.
I did a top 10 Scary Places of Massachusetts and talked about Hoosac Tunnel, and I'm pretty sure I mispronounce it too so you're not alone 😂
Yeah, the word looks way different than it’s pronounced lol 😂

Sadly no, but I found the history very fascinating!
