Thank You for Listening!
I made the orchestral background for this one myself. I wanted to aproach with all respect as I think '1916' is one of the greatest songs ever created. I tried to do my best to add a bit more to the original (if it was even possible) and I really hope you like this version!
This orchestral cover is the first that got released on Spotify and other online platforms, it would mean so much and would support the channel if you would check it out as well.

"And that's how we died, clinging like kids to each other" punches me in the gut every time I hear it
They were kids. 16-yo kids who wanted to prove how brave they are, wanting to make this world a better place, believing old officers... And they were thrown to hell on Earth. Living with rats in the trenches, seeing they friends dying with their blood and organs scattered around, inhaling toxic gases melting their lungs, noticing that their wounds become more and more stinky as the infections progress...
I called for my mother but she never came
Perhaps a rest is needed. Take the time to breathe gentlemen, and feel this music.
I've been told something similar as of the last week or two.
The original version makes a tear come to my face and this version makes me remember my great grandpa
Ah, yes. More sorrow and tears. Unironically best part about this song.
Holy shit. the original one was already super emotional but this one made me cry as soon as i heard the first note
this song was officially now credited as Sabatons and no longers Lemmy's. this has been recognized by the band themselves. i try so hard to sing it, and while i can roughly do it, since i'm on point on several parts but terribly off in others. i find if i try to sing operatic it works a little easier but i run out of breath VERY fast when i try to keep it up.
i honestly never even heard of this song until i saw this versions MV. i looked it up and dear god is it hard to keep a dry face sometimes...especially when i'm stoned lol. i become MUCH more relaxed and calm thank god since i got ADHD Y^Y. but it allows me to actually be able to express my emotions as i'm very stony for the most part otherwise.
but all-in-all, it's this that should be taught in schools not the dry boring parts. if it were it would likely spark their curiosity and encourage them to actually willing learn that part of the history class. that's actually what i've been doing yesterday; been listening to sabaton and looking up the ones that i can't remember, place, or uneducated on.
I've enjoyed the vast additions you've put onto these sabaton songs.
I'd say you've made a damn good orchestral rendition of 1916. I'm certain Lemmy would have enjoyed both Sabaton and your cover of the song.
Thank you!
@@songbreakerworkbench a part of me died with Lemmy. I love Motörhead.
This song broke me. I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces, but when listening to the motorhead version, it sounds more like a grandpa in a retirement home telling his war stories to his grandchildren
This is amazing, I legitimately started crying when Sabaton performed this one live when I saw them earlier this year, you’ve yet again managed to make another great song even more powerful
Whats that sound? Oh, just the sound of my heart shattering into a million bits.
Thank you, SBWb
I'm not crying, you're crying!!!
We're all crying
We are all crying
2:22 Best part of the song , hands down 😢😢🔥🔥🔥
Agreed
Bloody hell. I thought the original was good. This is much better.
Again this moves me to tears
"I died in hell... They called it Passchendaele."
That's heavy mate😞
Thousands march to the beat its in despair
You deserve to work with Sabaton with your talent of making their songs more powerful and more emotional.❤ I love your work.
Thank you very much!
@@songbreakerworkbench Your covers are enough to thank us with!
You know a song is good when it physically gives you goosebumps and moves you to tears
"I can't believe he didn't cry during titanic"
"do men even have feelings?"
me in the next room: 2:22
Still amazes me that we almost forgot the lost Generation to history, THANK YOU SABATON
In the UK and the States of the British Commonwealth which send Soldiers to the First World War there is a culture of rememberance to the killed Soldiers. Probably because the First World War marks the beginning of the disolution of the British Empire. Beside France there is no similar culture of rememberance. I am German M.A. of History. Over 2 Million German men were killed but they are mostly forgotten because their sacrifice was used by Hitlers Regime and the Second World War was a much greater catastrophe. But also Millions of Soldiers died for the former Russian Empire and the Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy or the Ottomab Empire. There is not much care for their fate. Because without a political continuity to preserve the remeberance the sacrifice of Millions is just a number in history.
This song has touched me in places where my uncle couldn't.
ayo?
🤨📸
What?
get confused heheheha
I was about to cry until i saw this😭😭💀
I listen to this version of the song so I can get my emotional tolarence up
I was already in tears from listening to the original version, especially being a mother, but this one put me over the edge. God bless all the soldiers who fought, bled and died in the names of people they'd never meet. I appreciate your sacrifice!!
Yet many politicans do not want to stop the innocent bloodshed. As an American I wish peace and cooperation across the world
Cringe take.
Bro thinks hes cool 💀 @aauwhatitdo1582
It's always nice to have some emotional songs mixed in with the epic. Great work as always!
This song reminds me of my great grandpa
Thank you for making an already beautiful song even more beautiful 👍

Always a good day when I see you upload new videos! This one made me cry, its perfect.
This song always reminds me of Imperial Guardsmen. It fits them so well.
2:22 Awesome Job, it’s a amazing song
Absolutely amazing. Can you do Lady of the Dark next?
It's about time, right? I'll do my best :)
@@songbreakerworkbench Great! I can't wait!
Same
Well done, sounds great!!
Wow, this was fantastic! You did some beautiful work here. The background is very moving; it sent a chill down my spine.💚 The only minor nitpick I have is at 1:30, where the word 'whorled' should be 'whored'. Other than that, great job.
Oh! I really did make a mistake! Sorry about that!
And thank you!
@@songbreakerworkbench No problem, and you're welcome!
This is Song Make Me Cry :(
Masterpiece.
2:30
😞😞😞
war, its not something anyone can describe, know what to expect... or walk away from
Most beautiful song i ever heard
Many Canadians did this very thing, thousands at a time, to defend the tyranny that threatened ghe world. We gave our all, so Freedom could be had. Canada stands proud in our decense of those who suffer
Defence😭😭😭😭🇨🇦🪦
Speechless!
as if the original wasn't enough to make me cry.
Magnifique
Thank you... Love this❤🎼👍
Can you do a powerful version like this of " Aces in Exile" please bro? 💪
we all need this-
Me too
Passchandale… a battle that should have never been has bloody has it was and where thousands of unsong heroes, children, fathers, enemies and friends died… equally has horrifying equally buried and equally forgotten…
May thy souls of these men rest in peace and all tough many of their names have been forgotten to time their acts shall not be forgotten
War is hell enemies cry the same friends cry the same they all cry for their mothers…
😢
Over 20 years served already 🫡
This one gutted me
Lest we forget🌺🪖🪦😭🇨🇦
This should have been played at Lemmy's funeral 😢.
It hits more hard then a truck...
Please remember our Canadian forces, who volunteered to bring Peace to the defenceless, and free the Jews from their misrry to along with everyone else who was in fear. Remember our dead who died so you could be free 😭😭😭😭🇨🇦
Nice
My great great great grandpa served in the German army during World War One then joined the friekorps during the Revolution, and I can confirm
This is emotional
1916 : worst year for the Entente in WW1 🫡
War is hell
