I have several orange peelers in my drawer that are just that little plastic cutter nub with a little finger guard ring. They’re maybe the size of a quarter and would come free with oranges from Harry & David fruit catalog orders (I did some food photography for them years ago).
As far as the potato peeler is con concerned, the Titan double pack on Amazon is the best value for money you can get. I have had mine for over 15 years and when I bought it I knew it was good but wanted and bought a second pack at the same time for when the first wore out, but I still have the second pack unopened in my pantry because the first pack is still going strong. As for how to use well years ago I was asked why does a man strike a match towards himself and a woman strikes a match away from herself, the answer I was given was to light the match, so revert that to how to use a potato peeler and you know how to use one.
I think the reason you describe the texture as being soft and crumbly is because most beef jerky is not made with brisket. When you use brisket there is a lot more intramuscular fat and when that fat melts away it causes it to be crumbly. Not to mention giving you a much softer product simply because of the cut of meat used. You can imagine the difference between dehydrating a piece of strip loin and dehydrating brisket you would be left with much different texture
Idk if I have some kind of magic peeler, but we have had ours (plastic) for 20 years and hasn’t broken. Maybe people just aren’t using it right or something bc everyone hates on them.
There's ad I saw for 3 pans you can stack on top of each other and cook 3 different foods at a time. I can't find the ad. It shows you can throw out the rest of your pans. I'd like to know if it works.
I love beef jerky, my favorite brand so far is Old trapper. Tried many other from my local stores, love old trapper as they seem to give the most in their pack than others.
I will let you into a secret, Micheline star chefs use the forwards and backwards peeling motion. This is because it's faster and potatoes themselves are cheap and they can afford to waste potato to have nicer looking potatoes.
Go for the oxo every time. With a potato I like to peel a complete strip or a circle all the way around longways down over and back up to the start and only with the oxo - then peel a strip all the way around the the shorter girth. That peels most of the potato, leaving about 4 smaller patches to zip off in a jiffy. Im convinced the green one is not so safe to use. You - or me, needs a learners permit before a qualifed drivers licence to use one of those and make sure you never exceed the speed limit round corners on one of those green ones. Slow down and watch out for the unexpected, especially in slipery conditions. Sincerely take care.
I would rather use a grater to shred cabbage. I agree that I wouldn't want to push the peeler forward, I thought this when you did that review for the other peelers. Really I prefer the style of the OXO, but my mom got a Y shaped one at Bed, Bath & Beyond. Then, she found some little ones that I think are supposed to be Swiss? She said they are very sharp. Personally, I did agree with her that the eye remover on the small peelers were great. I still prefer the OXO where I feel more in control. Aaaah, the beef jerky makes me long for Korean BBQ Beef Jerky I tasted at Costo a few years ago.
O.K., this is a hot debate amongst my family. I do not peel carrots, cucumbers, potatoes or many other veggies. Wash them and all will be good. My sister insists that you should peel all of the above. Yes, I will peel apples if I'm making an apple pie. Let's take a poll and see who peels and who doesn't.
@@typemee3757 I love it. I have heard the same thing. I don't know if it's true but hey it gets me out of peeling veggies that I don't feel need to be peeled and doesn't affect taste in my opinion.
For kitchen gadgets, I personally find both Oxo and Cuisinart are consistently the best. Cost a little more than other brands, but worth it in the long run.

You can imagine the difference between dehydrating a piece of strip loin and dehydrating brisket you would be left with much different texture
that beef jerky is literally making my mouth water lol
The best peeler I have ever purchased came from the dollar store. I'll pick that peeler over any other peeler on the market.
I don't peel veggies either. I heard that the skin has more of the nutrients. Neverfact checked it but that's my excuse to not peel.
@@typemee3757 I love it. I have heard the same thing. I don't know if it's true but hey it gets me out of peeling veggies that I don't feel need to be peeled and doesn't affect taste in my opinion.
i like the soft jerkey myself, not a fan of the tough lethery strips so that sounded good
Thanks for all you do
Two 2021 Christmas presents DOWN! LOL
Good.
Now I feel the urge to peel an apple.
😀
For kitchen gadgets, I personally find both Oxo and Cuisinart are consistently the best. Cost a little more than other brands, but worth it in the long run.
Jack of all trades. Master of one 😂
Love this channel all the way from the UK
Can you do a comparison between this Amazon version and the actual ultimate Irish peeler as seen on tv
I wish you would have compared it to an oxo y peeler. Comparing it to a side peeler is so completely different.
