I love how you made this! I am impressed by the many ways this could be customized to suit the maker's needs. For mine, I will make a small pocket in the inside to put my list of needles on a heavier piece of stock and hand sew it in as I don't want to fuse pages. I never saw such beautiful silk threads before! Will definitely reach for some to couch down. Thanks again for a well produced tutorial.

How about making the 'cover' a little larger so as to not have to cut and waste the inside 'pages'? I, too, would embroider first, once the size is set. THEN sew down the center. Of course, it's easy for me to see what to do - it's just difficult for me To DO. I am glad to have found this video - just in case I get 'a round tuit'. OH, an idea! I'll make a round needlebook and label it 'round tuit'.
Due to the thickness of the "book", when folded, all of the pages vary in width. The center 2 pages extend further than the 2 pages next to it. And so on for the number of pages involved. Even if the cover is a bit larger, all of the interior pages will need some trimming to make them even.
Or enjoy the project, as presented. Quality craftsmanship isn't about rushing from one soundbite to the next while watching the 6:00 pm news. Further, I appreciate the time and effort crafts people devote to helping me grow in their area of expertise.
You can get a similar effect by running wood fabric through a washer and dryer, as if it were cotton fabric. The heavier the wood fabric the thicker the shrunken results will be. IMO, a good use for fabric that results from accidentally including a wool garment in a load of routine laundry. While not as nice, craft felt can be used. Another option is to use regular fabrics lightly quilted together. Fun to experiment with scraps, using the basic concepts presented, to come up with your own design variations. For example, threadbare washcloths can become "batting" between 2 layers of fine dressmaker materials.

I made one and used my die cutting machine and cut all the same size rectangles for convenience and was easier just to trim down the inside pages.
Turn on an old Perry Mason rerun while you do this. You won't notice how tedious it is.
