- The great Hindusthani vocalist, Pandit Jasraj, is accompanied by Ustad Zakir Hussain on tabla and Shri Appa Jalgaonkar on harmonium. Vocal support is provided by Durga Jasraj and Shweta Jhaveri. From Panditji's 1987 tour of the USA.
Pt. Jasraj is the master of Raag Darbari Kanada..
Yes 100 percent true
Excellent rendition of Darbari Kanada . I was present in the audience and remember enjoying his gayaki - very melodious and unique.
U r so lucky

Supreme rendition of raag darbari by pandit ji you can ever find. There are many singers but this is pure divine singing
In 1972 I had an opportunity to listen Ustad Ameer Khan in Swami Hari Das Sangeet Sammelan, Vrindavan. He was an expert of this raag. Now again same expertise I am enjoying with Pt. Jasraj. Superb. Pranaam to Pt. Ji.
Try not to think in terms of 'rehearsed' or 'unrehearsed'. It definitely doesn't happen as it does with western music where chords, rhythm, and leads are practiced over and over again in colb. Imagine an artist with a canvas, and a palette in his hand ready to begin - the colours form the Raag, so the artist cannot drift away from it; yet he paints his masterpiece the way he wants it to be. And it can never be recreated again that same way. Not trying to be poetic but I cannot explain it better.
It couldn't have been said better. You have put it very aptly.
Kia baat e sir Rabb de darshan karva ditte jeuonde raho
This is the actual mood of darbari which masters like pt. jasraj can express in full depth.. infact he does justice to every raga he sings..
Qqqqaq
Fortune are the ones who's eyes become moist as the raaga gets rendered. You are blessed souls 😇🙏
pata nahi duniya ko phir koi jasraj milega ya nahi........... charan vandan prabhu
This is the beauty of the Indian Classical Music that for 55 minutes these great maestros performance are unrehearsed and all improvised on the spot. This performance can not be repeated because of the improvisation by these maestro at that particular moment.
I enjoyed Pt.Jasraj’s Darbari at Harballabh Sangeet Samellan,Jalandhar 1981/1982.
Anokha ladla ,Khetan ko mangey Chand.
Best version of darbari there is!
The way Pandit Jasraj and the accompanying artists Ustad Zakir Husain and Appa Jalgaonkarji appreciate each other's innovative contributions shows the respect by each artist for the artistic abilities of others. The Indian classical music is most enjoyable when the artists create some pattern which is fitting in the grammar of raga and tala but which is partially unexpected yet musically appealing to audience who have heard presentations of the same Raga before. In this video such places are abundant and the appreciative gestures and remarks by the artists during the performance do not appear as distractions but help to enhance the mood of both the artists and the audience.
Wonderful presentation of Darbari Kanada!
The freedom of improvisation allows experimenting with musical ideas that appear on the horizon of imagination to the performing artist on the spur of the moment. But to have such ideas the artists also have to rehearse a great deal to master the variations of such known ideas. But reproducing the known patterns does not give great joy the listeners get hearing a new beautifully crafted improvised idea. That the speciality of Indian classical music accordingly to me. Artists cannot create the same musical experience again because of the need for novelty . Each performance is unique.
the exuberance of this raga reverberates in the acoustics of the auditoria........remarkably rendered the dignity of the music seem to envelope the spheres............
बहुत खुब खुब.....मै तो ना समझ हु ईसके बार मे लीकीन बहुत सुंदर मन को भाया
I think he is eligible for BHARATRATNA...why government is not thinking in that angle...i dont understand...But i can say he is truly great master who take us in to divine world...
Yes he utterly deserved.
He snatched my breath right at the very beginning - when he does that test: to see if his voice is ready for all the three octaves…
The way he descends from the upper sa - with such effortless and authority - and the way he comes and stands in the lower sa: as if he’s the king who administers that octave…
No words to explain; It’s beyond majestic…
And powerfully hitting notes, such accurately in tune…
That glide made my listening complete…
Mind melting with watering eyes

A PERENNIAL DOCUMENT OF HISTORICAL SUPER EXCELLENCE.
I love and worship panditji for his SAHAJ presentation. May it be unplanned but very much attractive and convincing all through out .
Many thanks 4 sharing this gem!
superb performance by all 3 artistes. Watch Jasraj go ballistic on the Rishabh. Appa duels gallantly with him, but his look in minute 46 as Jasraj beautifully switches the octave on him -- priceless!
Great ears and observations
A devine experience for listeners of classical songs where pandit Jasraj is concerned.

Is there any better recorded music like this that you can recommend? Albums, videos, whatever. This is pretty much my first introduction to listening to long form Indian classical music
Search maestros choice darbari jasraj. The video has a blueish thumbnail. Its studio quality recording
You should try Shivkumar Sharma , Hariprasad Chaurasia and Great Lata Mangeshkar. If possible listen to Shakti Group and Mahavishnu Orchestra . You should listen to Kesarbai Kerkar, Begam Akhtar , Shobha Gurtu and Kishori Amonkar

🌷🌷🌷
50.00❤️
well depends what you mean by improvised. indian classical music is structured in terms of improvisation. So if you did not improvise, what will you do on stage. However it is not improvised in the sense that students are taught how to improvise. however on any given day, the way the performance takes shape, on some other day, it will be totally different.
Why you forgotten the great
Harmonium player Appa जळगावकर.
Hello , this is beautiful. if any body can let me of the lyrics (and translation if possible) I'd be very grateful.
interesting!...from what i understand of Indian raga is that it isn't 100% improvised or completely unrehearsed. if these musicians have REALLY never played together until this very moment and are not playing a partially structured classical raga then i am impressed!
They have played together for years and this is a routine for them! Whatever they do is excellent and everytime it is different and wonderful. The emotion of a raaga cannot be covered in one single concert there is a lot to it!😊
12:30
ever hear of jazz and rock and blues Improvisation? same as improvisational
Classical Indian music....western music is Not really that rehearsed as you think...in fact it's quite Wild and very Groovie....
40:25
As an Indian classical musician...I can say only one thing to you!!If you really want to analyse Indian classical music technically then you have to learn it with your heart & soul...or listening to it you would feel like an illiterate to whom all alphabets are just black marks!!
Lucky you to have watched Ust Amir Khan Saheb LIVE. I am sorry to say that this rendition of Darbari by Pt. Jasraj is nowhere even close to the one rendered be the Ustad.
Agreed bt this is amazing too..after ustad amir khan g his student Pt Amarnath g Did the same Rendering of Darbari meditative
wow you have a crazy name...YOGI DIXIT is that your real name? very strange.
There is improvisation within the structure... you almost sounded intelligent...
A devine experience for listeners of classical songs where pandit Jasraj is concerned.
