@@DrivingByBraillethat’s the main reason for me too. The extra money I’ll be spending a month on insurance and other things is nothing compared to the money I’m losing giving another carrier 20% or more. Plus having to follow their rules or be reprimanded in some way or another. I’m just over that now.
While it may be great to have your own authority, the market is crud. There is a channel I watch, and he said the load boards have no good load boards. My question is how is what you are doing any different than the spot market two years ago?
Honestly there’s way too many variables to cover other than simply the rates themselves that have changed. the truck I drove before got 3 mpg LESS than my current truck yet had the same payment. Cost of operation on this truck is nearly half of the truck I had last time. On top of that fuel has gone down dramatically since then. It was still around 6 per gallon when I left, now it’s below 3 in a lotta places. So fuel prices coupled with the operating costs of this truck are a MAJOR difference over last time. Thirdly, rates are pretty much where they were when I started being an owner op over 6 years ago. I’m typically having no problem staying in the mid to high 2’s right now and that’s plenty acceptable. At least imo. Imo a bad market is the best market to do this exact thing. If you can come into a market that people all say is garbage and you can survive it, you’re bound to succeed when things get better. But with that said, there ain’t no guarantees in life.
I drove OTR for over 15 years I stopped driving back in 08 I did company driver for a while nd I lease my own truck I always wanted to get my own authority but I never got into that personal issues news in the day that goes by that I wish I could go back to trucking but I hear that the market is really bad right now for independent contractors I don't know how true that is if there's still some small companies that are surviving by the way Maybe One Day I Will go back to the road and start off where I finished get my own authority I wish you luck and God bless and I'll keep watching your Channel
I appreciate it! Yea the market isn’t great but I believe it’s sustainable right now if you’re smart about it. The way I look at these things is if you can survive the rough times, you’ll thrive during the good times!
Definitely hated to see you go but 100% understand fully. Atleast I gained a great friend and someone I can call brother. Always here for you. Good luck and I’m always a call away.
Congratulations on your new adventure and good luck 👍 you certainly have come along way since you started your channel khori , out of interest did your channel numbers drop after you sold levi? I have been following you since you were a company man in a volvo how times have changed, any way good luck brother and I look forward to your updates
I appreciate it, Steve! My numbers have sort of fluctuated but generally continued to go up even since selling Levi. They’ve slowed tremendously since I got lazier with putting out content though, but that’s to be expected.
Yard move cannot be used in an area that is not controlled access. The truck stop parking lot doesn't qualify. A warehouse lot that is beyond a security gate does qualify for yard move. If closely examined, it will be disallowed and backed off your log and then you will be assessed violations accordingly. Be very careful on how you use yard move and PC.

Good to see you. You look great. I was thinking about power only and buying a dry van. So I will be watching maybe I can get some pointers
Well you got two good years out of them That's pretty good in this market. Health and family are all that matters Good luck brother
I appreciate it, and absolutely!
Drop the bobtail insurance. Not required. And when you go spot, you will be attached to a trailer most of the time.
Yessir! Exactly what my agent was saying. I just meant it’s only so much over just my bobtail now.
Hopefully it goes well for you. The reason I got my numbers. Got tired of other people/companies dictating my pay.
