    Hey Robert, You are a God send!! I don't know about anybody else, but you gave me some good advice. I have a 98, s70, Volvo sedan I just bought for cheap, needs a little fixing here and there (in which I will be following directions from your videos), but that's my hobby doing the little things. My car radio was locked, following your advice, I called a Volvo dearlership, and they gave me a code for my car after I gave them my VIN number. Well, you said to put the key in the ignition in the first, or second position, and let the car run for 2 hours, well that worked. But when I went to check after the two hours, it still didn't work after I put the code in. So, I came back in the house and watched some more of your videos, and lo and behold the last one I kept playing over, and over. You know what it said "if all else fails get the serial no, secondary no, and model number off the back of the radio, and you should us how to do that. Well, it worked, just like you said someone may have changed radios or something. I called the dealership back and gave them the serial nu., the secondary nu, and the model number. Guess what Robert it WORKED!!!!! I am so happy, and I owe it all to Mr. Robert Spinner, aka "Robert DIY". All I can say is God Bless you and your family and peace. You are a messenger from the Lord. God know some people are poor and these videos are helping us because we don't have the money to pay these Babylon people's steep prices. Thank you Robert, and God Blessings!

    I like how you are very thorough and knowledgeable and to the point. I also appreciate that you didn't give a perfect case scenario. Now I have ride around for 2 hours bc my radio was locked a whole ago. 9.5 🌟 until the radio works. 😂

    Thank you Robert! Saved me from anguish on having a used '97 850 and having had to disconnect the battery to simply clean the terminals....and the subsequent lack of CODE when asked. In my case, the CODE was handwritten in pen on the top panel of the radio, and thanks to your great instructions on how to remove the radio, I found it. Thanks again. Peace.

By the way, that's a weird "bug" that caused the wrong digit to show up. It seemed to me that you entered the correct code on try # 3 the first time... How can I get the little black handle to stay in after I reinsert the radio? I replaced my SC811 with an SC816 radio, put in the code successfully, but one of the two handles doesn't want to stay in after I push it back in all the way. I don't want to jiggle it too much as it seems to be a fragile mechanism. The replacement head unit seems to be flush with the dash, and as far back in as possible. Thanks!

      @@RobertDIY I got the radio out of the dashboard! i had to remove the ashtray, two torx on the side. Then pull out the hazard light switch, remove also the cable. Then with the hook of a crowbar (no bull!) thru the hole of the ashtray and pull the radio out. Someone advised me to stick my fingers in the audiocassette payer and pull, but my fingers are to big and you risk damaging the front of the radio. before you pull the crowbar, feel with your fingers where the crowbar touches the back of the radio so you'll won't damage anything. One stirdy pull was enough.

      Your car should have the SC-901. Just replace the unit.

    Hey Robert
    I've got a 2000 V70 with the SC-816 radio. One issue I'm having is when I'm playing a CD in the drive the CD sometimes stops for a second when I hit a small bump in the road. It doesn't have to be a large pothole or anything. It's not scratches on the CDs since I just got them out of the plastic. Any ideas what this could be?

    • @RobertDIY

      Dirty player or it's going bad.

    • @morganw8682
      @morganw8682 7 років тому

      hopefully not the latter. I just bought it on Ebay...

      I guess I'll try to clean it. Would rather not completely take it apart. Would blowing some compressed air in the disc drive be a bad idea?

      I don't think so.

    Hi Robert. My 96 850 wagon radio says CODE, but when I push the preset buttons to enter the code the numbers do not show up on the screen. It just continues to say CODE. I can turn the radio off and then back on to CODE but still the numbers don't register. Any suggestions?

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  8 років тому

      +HeyIt'sMarcus what caused this problem? My guess is someone pulled the front of the radio off and disconnected the circuit ribbon. Either take the radio out and check the ribbon, or just replace the radio with another one.

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  7 років тому

      If you are pressing 2 and you get a 1 the radio is bad. You should get a SC-816 premium radio anyway. Sounds much better and has a CD and tape.

    Hey Robert, I resurrected the stereo in my 2000 V70 using your tip! I've had this car for 3 yrs now & I have to say it's the best car I've ever owned. It drives like a dream & I really like it a lot; A couple of my friends & my brother think I'm crazy for dealing w/Volvos, but that's their problem........One thing that really frustrates me about this car though, is the hood release ritual I have to go thru just about every time I try popping the hood - I end up sometimes trying it for have a dozen times before I can actually get it to open! Any tips on this one? Thanks, m.o.

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  8 років тому

      +mike o. In one of my recent daily videos I showed repair for that. You basically attach a hood release pad to the front cap which will put pressure on the existing one.
