All these accuracy haters. The kids are just having a blast and blowing them up! Do you not remember being a kid and catching any decent fish felt like the biggest and was really exciting? This is where it began for most of us. Treating it like a tournament and demanding accuracy is a bit of a joke. Don't be such try-hards.
lol, when i was a kid, we all had our little black zebco scales, which were always a pound or two off. but we didn't care. 10 pound carp or 12 pound carp? didn't really matter, lol. the fun was in the fighting, not the weighing.
I'm gonna be honest here. This video really got me vamped up to go slay some green bass at my local waters which I did. Thanks for the stellar video John.
oh man, sitting here in western ny and my fishing fever is BOILING after watching this video. very nice work guys. i`d like to say that i have been as sucessful creek fishing as big body but alas no. envy you dudes. peace out.
Great video guys, you had a heck of a pile of nice smallies there. I haven't had a day ike that in years. I like near a few small rivers like that in northeast iowa , I have a hard time getting to the good spots now, an auto accident leftme paralyzed 15 years ago but it don't keep me from trying.
If you even see this, this creek has only gotten better. I live down the street from that stretch and storms over time have opened up some new spots. You definitely need to revisit some of your older spots now that you are more experienced
nice smallies, i also catch alot of em on the dinger. My favorite smallie bait is a 3/16 strike king bitsy bug Watermelon with a 3" rage tail baby craw Hard Candy, they will hit it like a frate train
Ha its funny that that storm hit u when u were fishin, because we were going the same thing (fishing) but we knew it was coming. We were camping and we had to wait it out! There was like 60mph winds! it was crazy! First time we got a good thunder storm this year!
Great job guys, and your lucky to have that creek. I fish some just like it, and competitively tournament fish. By the way I bet your scales are broken, your posted weights seem a bit high.....But nice fish for a creek!!!!!
dude that's crazy with the weather, Similiar thing happened to me about a month ago. so my friend and I hid under a bridge for about an hour and when we got back home everyone in our neighborhood had a tree on their car or a fallen down fence
They were like 15 second fights it would have been impossible for me to have yelled over one of my friends to video tape before I even reeled in without making it look fake.
take ant size stick bait (senko-style sinking) and use a drop shothook to hook it right through the middle its that simple, just toss it to cover and let it sink, as it slowly sink the ends will wiggle ever so slightly, when it gets to the bottom pull it back up and do it all over again. the bite will almost always come on the sink
@j0j0barz33 What is the water temp you are fishing in? I fish alot in Tennessee for smallies in local rivers and was wondering how much difference there was between what you fish and what I fish. Nice vid!!!
Do you guys have any idea how lucky you are to have such a fantastic smallmouth fishery, with what looks like no one else around, near to where you live??? I wouldn't tell anyone where it is - keep it to yourselves and enjoy it. P.S. If I give you $400 will you take me there??
BTW the guy named Luke with the stupid comment about "no fish you caught weighed no more than 2#" is a dope to say something like that and has obviously not caught very many smallmouth over 15" long. As they grow longer they really put on the weight. He's obviously jealous.
Here's a tip for if a fish gets hooked really deep in the throat: Go in through the gills with a pair of needle nose pliers and rotate the hook out. It's not really related to this video, just saying.
hey JOJO...nice video bubb..1 question how is a wackey rig set up???? heard it but never have seen it,,i'm from southern indiana and we have BLUE RIVER which is known NATIONALLY for its smallmouth. send me sum info on that if you would be so kind and GOOD LUCK fishn, i'll keep watchn
Gotta love fightin them smallies in rivers or creeks especially. I would way rather catch a 5 pound smallie then a 5 pound largemouth. Smallies fight so much harder. I actually caught a 6 pound largemouth and I also caught a 3 pound smallie and the smallie fought harder.
you guys are lucky you can catch bass go somewhere and catch small mouth around here is all large mouth and pike and small catfish looks like a good spot
next spring/summer il hopefully be makin videos on smallie fishing. Check out my channel and see the 3.5 pounds i caught a few days ago. Just a picture, no video...but still a big one
when the air temperature is below freezing and your line gets stuck in your guides because it is so cold waders can be nice. ( I know that was not the case in this video but waders are not for wusses)
This is the America I love - if more kids fished we'd be better off
That made me want to visit Illinois. Awesome!
Me too, but no smallies here in Florida. I ran into those in N.C. and Tennessee, and was hooked. Pound for pound, much better runs than large mouth.

i know! the good days of young fishing...
lol, when i was a kid, we all had our little black zebco scales, which were always a pound or two off. but we didn't care. 10 pound carp or 12 pound carp? didn't really matter, lol. the fun was in the fighting, not the weighing.
My toes were so mess up after walking 8 miles there and back haha

I'm gonna be honest here. This video really got me vamped up to go slay some green bass at my local waters which I did. Thanks for the stellar video John.

central illinois fisherman myself, and i have to say the vermillion river has some really awesome spots for smallie.

Hey Jon, your storm drifted up to me in Ontario, Canada! Ruined my fishing day...
Hey guys, just curious what time of year this was.
Do you guys have any idea how lucky you are to have such a fantastic smallmouth fishery, with what looks like no one else around, near to where you live??? I wouldn't tell anyone where it is - keep it to yourselves and enjoy it. P.S. If I give you $400 will you take me there??
Nice video fella's
You're lucky. There's almost nowhere to go bass fishing here in Merced, CA.
great video

beautiful place
barometric change might be why they were biting so good if its normally not like that, are there any musky in your area?
The point is to weigh a fish you caught....doesn't matter size, just the interest of knowing what the fish weighs
Hahah i love doing this! What town is the creek? We usually just stick to Oswego
good thing no one knows where this is at :) hit me up next time youre out here bro
hey JOJO...nice video bubb..1 question how is a wackey rig set up???? heard it but never have seen it,,i'm from southern indiana and we have BLUE RIVER which is known NATIONALLY for its smallmouth. send me sum info on that if you would be so kind and GOOD LUCK fishn, i'll keep watchn

hey dude can you make a vid about the banjo minnow?
yeah I agree those weights don't seem correct. have you checked your scale?
using crawfish in streams work great.
Great vid but please don't hold those fish horizontal!
Why?
+Bobby Evans It can break the fishes jaws And kill the fish
+Alex Hoadley it can but if there a small fish it usually wont
I had no clue u were in Illinois I live in Alton il
