    The quickest way to solve problems with larger coefficients is to actually use guess-and-check. The problem is that most people -- not even most math educators -- do it in a proficient manner.

    Just want to add one more factoring option, that might be useful in some situations: ax^2+bx+c = a(x-x1)(x-x2) where x1 and x2 are the solutions from the quadratic formula.
