    I think a lot of Japanese shoe shiners actually use horses specifically for cleaning, and then pig/boar specifically to bring out the shine and "push in" shoe creams into leather. The idea is that the coarser pig bristles allow for more heat and pressure to push the shoe creams into the leather for nourishment.
    Goat/Yak hair brushes are as you say, specifically for shining wax.

      Personally, I dont use brushes really for my shines other than to smooth over waxes between stages. But thanks for sharing. I will have to check that out ;-)

    Thank you for your excellent blog-please keep the posts coming! I apologize but I got confused by the mix up. Just to clarify, am I correct in understanding that you use the yak brush as your primary workhorse brush and the goat brush for buffing?

      Thank you for your kind words and support. And yes, I meant to say I use the Yak brush as my main brush for shine. I use the goat hair one for more buff and less shine

    I have several Paul Brunngard brushes…they’re excellent. @Justin, what are your thoughts on the Paul Brunngard waxes? I have the spitshine waxes, and I would say I like them better than Saphir mirror gloss. The small 30ml size of the wax is kinda boo, though.

      In all honesty, waxes for me are pretty comparable at the top. I can get the results either way so really hard to say one is better than the other. I use them all for various stages of the shine.

    Hey. Why don't you explain the results together after use. So you can explain what kind of conditions are suitable for the use of each brush.

    Question good sir, do you find it necessary to have multiple brushes to use depending on the color of your shoes? Such as a brush for black die shoes and brush for tan and one for burgundy?

    • @theshoesnob_official
      @theshoesnob_official  Місяць тому

      I do. I think that 3 is optimal. I learned the hard way by using a brush on a burgundy shoe, then using the same one of the tan and altering the color of the tan shoe which is not an easy correction.

      The brushes carry residue on the bristles

    It appears you have your Goat and Yak hair brushes confused.

      I know why you think that due to middle part but I asked/double checked when I got them and they were packaged as such, i.e. how I am saying them 🤷‍♂️

      @theshoesnob_official  Місяць тому

      I was also confused when I first got them. But the one I call Yak has finer bristles

      @@theshoesnob_official I have the Yak hair brush on order. It was my understanding that the Yak hair brush has stiffer Goat hair bristles around the edge to support the very soft Yak hair bristles in the middle.
      It will be interesting to see which brush I receive.

      @@losergene7002 yea keep me updated. Also I have no brush with the style of handle that the Yak hair brush shows with the threading so that also caused more confusion. But, if I am wrong in the end, the only thing that changes is the "shine brush" part in terms of what is best used for "buffing", so to speak. Enjoy yours!
