Perhaps an extremely stupid question, as I am new to such things, but here goes... I have a set of keycaps I love, but they are MX compatible. How do I determine which non-MX switches will still work well with MX compatible caps?
hum not sure to understand.. If your keycaps are mx compatible, they will fit on all of these switches and any regular switches! The only non mx compatible keycaps are rubber domes keyboards keycaps (non mechanical), some logitech keyboards that use other type of switches and Mattias keyboards that use Alps compatible keycaps... Hope it help...
Great video! I recently built my first custom keyboard with a Zuoya GMK67 and some Ajazz Banana switches. It's been great but I've been craving some clicky switches on the cheap and this is really helping me narrow it down. So far I like the sound of the Kailh BOX White V2's, how is the tactility? I personally prefer sharp and highly tactile feedback but I'm not entirely sure if those will deliver.
For gaming I would go with a light one with short travel, like the Kailh Speed Bronze. Great switch. For typing you could take the same one, but that depend of your preference. It’s not a very tactile switch. My new go to would be the BOX White V2. Could be a great choice for gaming to. But if you really want something more heavy and tactile for typing, I would go with Kailh White Owl, but not sure it would be great for gaming due to the weight…
Thanks from a non-scientific test my Kailh Box Navys sound louder than the Jades but I guess the Jades beat them by 0.2 dB (75.7 vs 75.9). I was looking for the heaviest, clickiest switch I could find so on weight the Navy wins out over the Jade (they are way ahead of the rest on dB's). I hope there will be even heavier/clickier switches to come (it's always fun to put a clicky switch under the Esc key). 😁
Not at all! That depend on your preferences... Some do not like heavy switches and some really like them... I personally think Navies are great typing switches!
i don't know if i am a little bit late for this but can you recommend the Kailh Jade or White v2 for competitive gaming like csgo, apex, LoL and casual typing Any other recommendation ? Thankyou for the hard work
Few weeks, sorry for the delay, I had to sound test all the linear switches I had here, maybe 4 videos to go and after I will be able to work on this ultimate compilation (it will be HUGE)..
The most similar switches similar in feels to mx blues are Pro Light Green, Speed Gold and Gateron blue! But if you want something similar but more premium and better, INK Blue!
I could be wrong, but I believe Cherry MX whites are tactile but not clicky. I believe the "clears" which look white, are the clicky ones. I bought Whites and they were basically heavier browns....???
officially, the white are known as clicky switches (even if they sound more tactile than clicky). The click is present but really muted... We could call that a silent clicky because we still get some click noise. You could check here: switchandclick.com/cherry-mx-guide/ Thanks for your comment! :)
zeal clickies sound pretty good, I just got a glorious gmmk2, not very happy with it. I thought 96% would make gaming with macros a little easier, not sure i like it.

Thank you so much for making this. Helped me out tons.
My pleasure! :)
where is matias click switch?
Coming this summer! ;)
I had the regular blues, and I think I'm already scarred for life.
ahaha
So far the only ones that appeal to me are the Zeal Clickiez, but I’m biased as I consider cherry profile switches to be all too similar. Now, if someone manufactured reliable Omron B3G-S, I’d be stoked!
Yeah! Love the B3G-S! I have a bunch but 60% of them are dead… 😅
7:12 is my favorite sound
Yeah, arctic fox have the most unique sound!!
Which one is the most loudest?
From memory the Jade is hard to beat.
Can someone tell me if the sherbet clicks before actuation (like the box switches) or after? Can't seem to find information about this online
Have not notice actuation before click.
I find it hard to find kailh white owl is this switch new? I do find some of other switches are on a similar sound
Similar to other click bar switches for sure, but thocky housing + great bump + spring weight make it a really balance and great sounding switch IMO!
Which is the thocky clicky in your opinion my friend? and which is the most quite clicky? Thank you mate
Humm good question, I have not tested a really thocky clicky switch so far... Should test a long pole stem in a POM clicky switch! :o
thank you mate ^^
@@ClickandThock
Ok, it's Jade|White V2 for me. But I can't find any keyboard with those switches. One would need to buy the parts and build the keyboard, but I wouldn't trust myself with that, haha.
ahah that's okay! Yeah not many companie have these options.. Try this one, you have the option to put Jade in it! skyloong.vip/collections/gk96-keyboard/products/skyloong-gk96-dye-sub-dolch
Want the best click jacket switch you can possibly make? Put Outemu Phoenix stems in Jwick T1 housings...
Wut?? Will try that for sure! Thanks mate!
@@ClickandThock Key thing is it has almost no rattle at all.
Which sounded the most similar to IBM Buckling spring?
None sound close... Buckling Spring have a very distinctive sound... I haven't seen any modern switches that sounds close to it so far...
@@ClickandThock I see, I was just curious since you've tested so many clickies and I want something vintage sounding for this IBM style build im doing
@@nocturnalsonder check for the Arctic Fox of the Cream Clickie! Feel and sound vintage! Nothing close to buckling spring, but still very satisfying!
@@ClickandThock I actually already had some Arctic Foxes on the way to my place right now xD , they look like one of the best clickies right now so I think they'll be perfect.
@@ClickandThock A modern switch that sounds like a buckling spring would be... a buckling spring! :p
Box bullet or white owl or artic fox? Already own pinks and like them, but thinking the arctic fox has better tactility and the bullet and white owl deepr/better sound
King of tactility between those are Bullet! But I think Owl are the most balanced . Arctic Fox are the more unique in term of sound...
wow what a great content !
whats your thought about akko lavender purple, im about to get my first custom board and i have my eyes on that switch.
also whats your recommend/ top 5 tactile switches ?
Thanks!! Love the Lavender Purple, really great switch, smooth and affordable. Not considering the price? I would say Anubis, Chosfox Voyager, Gazzew U4T, Epomaker Budgerigar, and Durock T1
@@ClickandThock thx a lot man, now im waiting for the shipping of my new board.
this channel is seriously gold for enthusiast/community haha. subbed
@@HITMAN80g Thanks man!! :)
i wish you make the outemu more
I plan to!! :)
As a clicky enthusiast. This makes me happy.
Thanks! No foam next time, let the switches really sing!
Planing to make a series with roomy case! Thanks!

BOX White V2 is a sweet spot for me! Not as tactile as Jade or Bullet though...
hi, what USB-C cable is used with the keyboard in the video?
A custom cable that I've made myself by shaping a cheap cable bough on amazon! :P
Amazing work
Thanks! :)
Which one is best for gaming and another one for typing in general?
For gaming I would go with a light one with short travel, like the Kailh Speed Bronze. Great switch. For typing you could take the same one, but that depend of your preference. It’s not a very tactile switch. My new go to would be the BOX White V2. Could be a great choice for gaming to. But if you really want something more heavy and tactile for typing, I would go with Kailh White Owl, but not sure it would be great for gaming due to the weight…
@@ClickandThock thanks much for this!
Just received the Crystal Jade, I think these are even louder than the original... Tests will tell!
Awesome videos
Thanks mate!
where the linier/silent switch round up????
Working on one! :)
My favorite is the blue gateron
These sharper than Mx blue IMO.
is box navy too heavy for typing?
Not at all! That depend on your preferences... Some do not like heavy switches and some really like them... I personally think Navies are great typing switches!
i don't know if i am a little bit late for this but can you recommend the Kailh Jade or White v2 for competitive gaming like csgo, apex, LoL and casual typing
Any other recommendation ?
Thankyou for the hard work
White V2 for sure, they will be less fatiguing and youll be faster.
When the linier switch round up will came out
Few weeks, sorry for the delay, I had to sound test all the linear switches I had here, maybe 4 videos to go and after I will be able to work on this ultimate compilation (it will be HUGE)..
I’m going to like this channel for sure the reason I know is “clicky AND THOCK
Thank you! :)
I like cherry mx blue and I want to find some alternates
Can I ask which switch is similar to cherry mx blue for sound and feeling?
The most similar switches similar in feels to mx blues are Pro Light Green, Speed Gold and Gateron blue! But if you want something similar but more premium and better, INK Blue!
I could be wrong, but I believe Cherry MX whites are tactile but not clicky. I believe the "clears" which look white, are the clicky ones. I bought Whites and they were basically heavier browns....???
officially, the white are known as clicky switches (even if they sound more tactile than clicky). The click is present but really muted... We could call that a silent clicky because we still get some click noise. You could check here: switchandclick.com/cherry-mx-guide/
Thanks for your comment! :)
My favorite type of switches
Me too! :)
would you happen to remember which ones had the least pre-travel?
humm my memory discard that kind of information on the long term.. .sorry lol... But maybe something like the Speed Bronze.
@@ClickandThock Thanks! I'll check out your videos for it, hoping i can get some!
zeal clickies sound pretty good, I just got a glorious gmmk2, not very happy with it. I thought 96% would make gaming with macros a little easier, not sure i like it.
96% is different enough from 100% for needing ajustment time... TKL is easier to adapt! Clickies are great!
Why they never add the reaction force … this is so important
I have bought Gateron Blu Optical Ks-22 switches. Anyone know barebone plates/fully keyboard models compatible with such kind of switches??? (I konw only the keychron k8/pro optical model but now it is no more available on european market stores (country italy))??? Thanks a lot.
Sorry, never tried Gateron Optical switches and keyboards, so can't tell...
Heavy sages sound so damn GUD
If you like heavy tactile switches, that's for you!
Just look at that whole right arm move to hit the backspace key. I am seriously thinking of starting a new company to change the industry standard and bring back split spacebars.
lol Never tried split space bar, I really should!
@@ClickandThock Nowadays, your best bet is only in the split or ergonomic keyboards like the KeyChron Q10 but you'll be giving up the TKL home keys and will have to learn other shortcuts (which is doable, but a learning curve).
