    I tend to get along way better with people who have autism. I feel like a lot of autistic people are a lot more open and accepting. Like they don't expect you to conform to all the social expectations and are more open to communicating in ways that are not the standard way to communicate in society. I find it easier to connect and have inside jokes.

    • @IndieAndy
      @IndieAndy 5 років тому +6

      Ooh yeah I often feel like that alot of the time. I feel that we tend to be more accepting of others because some of us know what it is like to be excluded from things you know.

    • @JadeDRail
      @JadeDRail 5 років тому +3

      @@IndieAndy That is mostly the experience I have had! Also because autistic people know what it is like to struggle to understand and conform to society's standards of how to act and be, they tend to not judge or even just not really notice when someone else isn't that great socially. Makes for a really accepting and free environment.

    At age 55, I was just diagnosed this year. Some of my special interests over the years include musical instruments (whether I know how to play them or not) and in my travels I buy instruments and try to create a song on that instrument during the trip. In 2015 I began playing the ukulele, and by 2020 I had a collection of 11 all-solid wood ukuleles and I learned to play both "flamenco style" and "fingerstyle". The feel of the strings on my fingertips and the aural stimulation of certain chords have been huge "stims" to help me regulate anxiety.
    I have owned several pets over the years, mostly dogs. As a special interest, I am working with my therapist and a dog breeder to acquire, train, groom and document the progress of my ESA, a female Havanese dog. (Future plans include the CGC test to earn "Therapy Dog" status, then eventually to train as an "Alert & Response Service Animal") I have created a UA-cam channel, Facebook and Instagram platforms for Chewie as well because UA-cam is another of my long-term special interests, I have two channels currently. One is a dog channel and the other is a ukulele channel.

    Great points. :)
    To answer your final question, I love how I have the ability to be kind to others and understand how they feel. I have had people be mean due to my misunderstandings in social situations, so I can relate to when others are struggling to make friends, so I gravitate towards those people and am a friend to them.
    1. Yes. I struggle to know what to say at times and say things that aren't always words. I tend to be better at writing in order to express my thoughts and it gives more time for me to clarify my ideas and come up with the right words.
    2. My curiosity is both a blessing and a curse. I can get so side tracked and research super random things when I should be doing homework, but I am happy that I still have that childlike wonder for the world and get excited to research and discover new things.
    3. I think in black and white and have a strong idea of what is moral and right, but I am so indecisive and this was extremely true when trying to choose a career for university. I made lists of all the pros and cons of the jobs, and these pros and cons were so clear, so I just had to pick the one with less cons.
    4. I love exploring my special interests. I have so many power points of all of my interests. It can be good but also a huge time waster when I should be doing homework (see a common theme? lol. I should be doing homework right now). I love flowers, animals, Disney, etc. I don't talk about my interests except to family. (Ps. I love Larry. It is a super cute llama).
    5. I feel like I am the only person who doesn't really have routines. I kind of just research my interests and go places when my family wants to go even if I wasn't told beforehand. I don't get anxious if I am around people I know. :D

I think that it's part of pattern recognition because the words we "create" generally follow the proper morphology rules with prefixes and suffixes to be "real words" like they don't technically exists, but the components make sense grammatically.

    Myself and my children do the making up word thing. people always picked on me when I was a kid for it but I always liked it. Serious personalitied people call it silly though, but i dont care anymore, its fun.

      I also am curious and like to figure out things, it drives my family nuts, but it is good for problem solving. I also am called gullable because I see good in bad people and give people a chance before I decide to think they are bad.

    I love Formula 1, and because of that I got into the mechanics of cars, and the aerodynamics and I got into SimRacing. A lot I cannot remember unfortunately, but it is always nice to relearn it again. Also, how the temperature of the track has an affect on the car behavior

    I am a 23 year old from England. I was diagnosed with Autism (Asperger's Syndrome) at 4 years old, just before turning 5 and ever since then my biggest special interest is trains or any part of the railways. If you asked me anything about trains including how powerful is an 8-cylinder 320bhp Rolls Royce engine for a Sentinel Diesel Shunter, i would answer it. or what type of steam engine is the Flying Scotsman or Mallard, I would also answer it well.
