Dame Kiri Te Kanawa really gets me to think out-side Los Angeles where I reside. When I hear her voice it sends me straight into the heavens. Thank you for giving us your art. Blessings, Tyler Lord Hamilton
I know, apologies. We're trying to get hold of all the old concerts and get them on YT. But the older ones are tricky to come by and when we do get a copy, they're rarely in pristine condition. x
I’m really no expert when it comes to all the technical terms of singing but my feeling from watching countless concerts by Dame Kiri was that she was able to convey so much emotion through total mastery of her technique and therefore ability to perform the score as written, as opposed to needing to resort to surplus facial expressions and over-dramatic posturing. If you just close your eyes you get carried away by waves of heartfelt emotion and don’t actually need to see anything going on.
Thank you for sharing these videos with us, their quality is really good. I already have them all in VHS format except for the Kiri's homecoming. I´ve tried to get them on laserdisc but it's really difficult because not all are available.

Величайшая певица Моцарта!!!
One of my all-time favorite concerts! Unfortunately, the sound quality makes it difficult to watch all the way through. :(
She is in really fabulous voice here...!

I'm sorry, i've only just seen your comment. What was the name of the concert? Do you remember? It would help me find it.

I wish shoulder pads would return
+Henrik Gustav Shoulder pads on women are like hip pads on men -- they go against the body's natural lines.
Haha, that would be my only complaint. Which isn’t worth making.
No way
Nuy
Sorry to say this video tape is dragging and the sound is muffled . Not as fine and clear as her concerts done in New Zealand .
Let it drop if you have no possibility of offering a decent sound. My cat mews just the same.
What? Oh heck no. I'd much rather have something than nothing, especially for such a great concert like this.
