The item on the left side, just forward of the air pump, is a feedwater pump. Follow the line toward the pilot, and you'll see it empties into an Elesco feedwater heater, which on the vast majority of N. American steam is on the top of the boiler, often atop the smoke box front, sometimes partially embedded in the boiler top.
This is an impressive steam locomotive, i hope that BLI has eliminated the decoder performance issues with paragon 3 and improved the performance with the newer paragon4 decoders.
Thank you Thomas, yes I hope your right, they had so many problems with Pagagon 3 that I think people are sitting back waiting for a bit of time in the field. So far I love this loco but I guess time will tell, if it does not perform well I certainly will post up my feelings. I hope for BLI sake they have ironed out the issues. Gary
