- All filmed on May 5th, 2024. The Coast Starlight 11 had to take off the lead engine ALC-42 #314 at the nearest switch south of the SLO Station. 314 then reversed by itself back into the station rescuing the broken down SC-44 Charger #2121 on the Pacific Surfliner. The coupling between the engines took a little a while and then there was another 2+ hour delay. Finally they pulled out of the yard and got back on the main line running about 3 hours late. This was a great surprise seeing both Charges together for the first time! Enjoy the video!

@@amtrakuprailfanning So you know where 314 came from? We don’t have a years yet in SLO.
@@amtrakfan2342Yes 314 got taken off the Coast Starlight at the nearest switch south of SLO and reversed back. 305 which was the second engine of the Starlight led solo down to LA. I also explained that in the description
@@amtrakuprailfanning Oh interesting. I heard one time a single P42 had to bring 11 down to LA and the locomotive was struggling to get out of SLO.
