Getting Scammed by Return of Wilderness

- All information I posted on reddit first.
First of I have to say that I know that I am stupid, but I was curious to see what Return of Wilderness was doing, yes I lost about 2b, but since that was only like 1/3 of my bank I am not to worried. I never bought or sold gold so I don't care about that too.
Story:
I was watching a video of ROW yesterday(since I think those are kinda funny), and saw that he was doubling money for people, and he was searching people to join in, so I thought why not double a 100m and have a funny skype call with ROW and sent him an email.
Everything from here on is on the video:
We added each other on skype and had a nice little chat, I gave him 100m he made me do another 200m and so on, this went on untill I gave him about 1.5b, at that point a friend of his was working on recovering my email(The one I use for stuff like youtube and Twitch(I have a seperate email on my RS Accs and that safed my ass)). So at that moment they told me they had my email(but later on I realized that no one logged into it(2 step on each email)). So they made me go in for another 500m. At this point I knew that it was a scam but thought it would maybe solve the problem.(It didn't and I went to sleep)
To show that ROW is actively trying to scam/hack people, something I haven't seen from him so far, I recorded the whole skype call, I can't be bothered to cut that stuff together right now, so I uploaded the uncut version.(Over 3hour long).
The thing I want to spread with this Vid, is showing that ROW is a scammer and is trying to social engeneer into peoples Accounts.

Sine the Reddit mods of /r/2007scape deleted my post I am going to send this to the big youtubers, to get the word out there.
Had to blurr out a part of the video at 2:10:11 nothing happens there(Ingame) but I got a privacy complaint by ROW because his skype and face was on there.
Michael please pin this RETURN OF WILDERNESS CURRENTLY GOES UNDER THE UA-cam NAME “RUNESCAPE 2020”. He was live streaming yesterday and i called him out saying i recognise his voice and started messing with his head.

Yeah he's a twat only gets like 10 views on his shitty gambling livestreams on RuneScape2020. Still miss him though and his annoying voice. Some of his videos were alright and had a certain charm to them, even if he is a cockroach. Totally understand why he got cancelled though, hacking threats are serious.

The authorities don't care when it comes to flawed privacy issues. you got hacked big deal people get hacked everyday for paypal and gmail accounts and the authorities just tell you to be more secure on the internet, even giant ass scams don't get publicity because it ultimately comes down to a lack of privacy on the victims part. I've taken 4 years of law school and studied a lot of criminal justice in college, nothing will be done about this, not until actual laws regarding internet issues are taken into parliament. thank you goodbye, his fault, who the fuck doesn't use vpn or that private Skype app when skyping famous scammers, he even requested row on skype, didn't even ask for a alternative way to communicate like teamspeak or something, he immediately trusted his Skype information which ultimately leads to a lot of issues.

Just because something isn't against the law in one place or another, doesn't make it right.

My main point is that it's not what he's doing *now* that matters, it's what he'll end up doing in the future.

tell your mom/dad and get an internet provider change. I don't think hell pester you for a simple 30m, but if you're worried then you can just get a new router or internet provider for a new ip, there are vpn's and ip address switchers available but make sure they are legit and backed.

If he didn't threaten you or your family irl, he probably didn't do anything actually illegal. I would just cut off all contact with him. He's only saying he has your IP to scare you, as he can't actually do anything with that but find the city you're in. And there's probably a lot of people in your city, so there's not much he can do with that

I feel bad for you man. I got scammed by a friend of one year back in 2012 for my ely and some other gear back in RS2 which was roughly 200m. Two months later I got scammed for 1b from another friend and on release of OSRS (Within the first few weeks/month-ish) I got hacked for my 18m (Which was a LOT, worth about 1b RS3 at the time) I had from merching / 99 cook leader boards when I never had a problem ever before with any of my account's security since starting in 04. This past March my skiller got banned for ' Macro Major' when I NEVER botted EVER, Jagex support is garbage, they ignored my emails and multiple tickets so I quit before putting even more time into the game on my other accounts and those get banned for some false allegations too... I supported Jagex for so many years, but I no longer do. I watch some RS videos when they pop up on UA-cam and somehow got to your video from watching Leafyishere, haha. I laid in bed and listened/watched the whole thing. I feel so bad for you man. You sound like a great guy, some people are evil and mean and he used his name to trick you into trusting him. I feel bad but I'm sure you learned the same lesson I learned when I trusted a couple of my friends back then. I used to trust everyone, I now have major trust issues when it comes to money/security, I can't even pay my college bills over the phone or internet or even mail them a check, I have to go in person and bring cash and make sure I get a receipt. I've been scammed irl for hundreds of dollars too. I just have been so extorted it's terrible. I know it's just a game, but you earned it the right way, they're just lying and scamming you for easy wealth which they'll just sell for cash anyways. No, actually you don't. I never was hacked once before until then and it's not even my fault. I had all the security and yet they still got me. I never go to risky websites and always was on top of my computers security. OSRS didn't have an authentication back then, it was just Jagex account Guardian (JAG) from RS2 that only worked for your RS2 account. How they got my account amazes me. I got my account locked within about 10hrs or so from getting hacked but I was buying sharks/selling cooked while getting 99 before logging out so my entire bank was in my inventory. I got hacked at 98 cooking while on leader boards. & Getting scammed by friends you had for a year or so is pathetic. I lent them things multiple times and they always gave it back, they just decided one time that the items were worh more to them than a friendship. It's whatever, I'm done with the game, Jagex banning my skiller for no reason put me over the edge. I never botted it, you can say whatever you want, you're just thick-headed. I always believed people would lie about that too for all my years playing, and most people did, but I feel for the people like me that got falsely banned while people like you, just constantly say they botted as I used to say until that happened to me. I don't think there's anyone that plays rs that was more against botting than I was. I worked hard on all of my accounts and I it angered me to hear about friends botting or people I meet that admit it. Especially when I reported a guy every day for a month that botted his entire account stats up and NEVER got banned at all, yet I do nothing wrong and my skiller got banned. lol, it's just another story of my nothing ever goes my way, life. lol, Good day though, enjoy the game :)

It's amazing how michael goes from "I'm absolutely not giving you a penny more than 100m" to accepting 450m trades. To everyone saying Michael is stupid, or that this could never happen to you, RoW used incredibly clever and powerful social engineering techniques. By constantly guilting Michael that he is going to ruin the video, transitioning back and forth between the other person on the call, and dangling the items Michael already traded to him over his head like a carrot on a stick, even though poor Michael was feeling sick as hell, and knew that RoW was probably up to no good, he thought the only way to get his stuff back was to comply with his demands.
Also, saying things like, "just put them up in the trade so we can see the value, I'm not going to make you accept" followed by, "lets go to the second trade screen, don't click accept though!" then "what I need you to do, is to pick a number, accept this trade, then quickly trade me 2 seconds after..." is very clever because he is breaking Michael down step by step. Getting someone to move forward one step of something they dont want to do, is much easier than moving forward with an entire trade all at once.
RoW constantly talked about how little the money was relative to his total wealth, when in reality, he was probably freaking out off mic. Those periods where he is silent after the trades, especially the big 400m+ ones, you know he is just screaming and jumping up and down off mic.
Moral of the story here, ABSOLUTELY DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE SOCIAL ENGINEERING. Paul, AKA Returnofwilderness, AKA Runescape2024 is massive scumbag, asshole, narcissist, (hell he has probably watched this very video many times to relive his high) but he is also quite clever. Some scammers (and also lurers) are incredibly creative and skilled at getting people to hand over their hard earned funds. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE TIME OF DAY, YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET ONE OVER ON THEM, THIS IS WHAT THEY DO ALL DAY.

His name is Ryan Wolley, if you knew RoW like i do back in the day he used to do scam videos with him. You said that you watched his videos for a long time and i'm actually suprised that you didn't recognize him. He has deleted all his videos on youtube but this is his real name because he did runescape videos with RoW back in the day and also did streams with him.

This needs to be reported to the police mate. The guy at the end... casually threatening you and going through your personal information is quite concerning. If you can report this to the police there will be guaranteed ways he can be caught and charged. Just because he's using a VM (Virtual Machine) it doesn't mean his IP or address is masked. I'd definitely take this further if I were you. People should face the consequences of their actions, this shouldn't be allowed.
