As a roosters fan, I will concede that Edwards deserves the blue spot, he's been consistent and solid for the past few years now, congrats to him. Teddy's been so good for so long and still is, but it's time to let the younger guys take over. That being said, teddy did not deserve the media bashing at all regarding this whole fullback debate, so many have poor memories and forget he was the blue's shining light back then, and contributed heavily to blue's success, where the respect? Yes, that is in the past now and Teddy is not at that origin peak as he was before, and Edwards is now probably considered the best fullback in the game right now, but still, let's appreciate what he has done and simply recognise that his time is up with the blues without kicking him out the front door with such stigma,

Penrith were playing NFL last night, first try came of a clear forward pass and Quarterback Kenny kept doing that all night. No forward pack can get on top and create space for their halves under such poor refereeing. The origin ref will hopefully be tougher on NFL style forward passes.

NSW has lost three of the last four series with Tedesco as fullback and captain. It's not like Madge is ripping up a winning formula. This is the best team picked in four years with the exception of the makeshift halves. If it was Cleary/Luai NSW would be certainties, but with makeshift halves they may struggle to get anywhere.
Finally picking and rewarding those who are in form

Parochial QLD supporter. This Blues team has been well selected and most certainly with potential and probability to win this Origin series and some more.
Four forwards as reserves and Hynes is carrying an injury. Who will cover the halves if Hynes limps off? You need Burton on the bench in place of Lenui, Burton can play 5/8 or center or even on the wing.
Only one prop reserve with 2 back rowers and a lock, is he going to play Yeo as an impact forward when he is one of the best 80 minute players in the game?

They’ll play him as a middle as Freddy did for a game last year and it was by far his best game of the series last year.

Firstly it's worth saying Teddy has been a great servant and whilst I agree with the decision it is worth remembering everything he's done. There's no doubt though Edwards has been the form fullback in the NRL for many years. Even in the Panthers v Roosters game this year, that was billed as the battle for the Blues fullback spot, Edwards was head and shoulders better and yet still the pundits picked Tedesco. As a result I suspect this team is only a shock for them.
The reaction shows the unhealthy influence that Easts have over the game as the richest and most powerful club. Journalists are too wary (or too incentivized) to say anything negative about Easts, and not one journo was publicly supporting Edwards. It's fascinating that David Fifita has been dropped for Qld after having rejected Easts two weeks ago. Fifita was part of last year's winning team and has been in fantastic form this year. When asked why Holmes was selected despite indifferent club form Slater said that he was part of last year's team and he sticks by those who've done the job. But apparently different standards applied to Fifita, who has been in great form.

Stunned that McInnes is picked over Yeo. Madge was at the game last night but must have spent most of it in the bar, because if he'd watched the game he would have seen Yeo power his way through the middle all night and lead his team to a 42-0 drubbing of the Sharks. I thought McInnes deserved a bench spot, and I hope that is how they actually start. And let's hope Hynes fails his fitness test because before he left the field last night, he was having a shocker. Crumbling under pressure just like he does in early finals football. Qld would be licking their lips at seeing him on the field.
Not sure if this was the intention, but maybe he thought it'd be better for Yeo to not start the game so that he can use his energy later in the game

Yeo has played in every origin for years and 4 grand finals and won 3, Yeo is an 80 minute player with a big engine.

It seems crazy to me to have the guy who is the fulcrum of the Penrith attack sitting on the bench while his place is taken by a tacking machine who has no combination with Luai, Crighton, Edwards, To'o or Martin. I'd much rather start McInnes at hooker than keep an asset like Yeo off the field.

How is it that a coach gets sacked then gets picked up to coach at another club. Trent Barret was terrible at Bulldogs and now coaching the Eels. All involved in the NRL are being paid high salaries be they’re players,coaches or other roles and yet they cant find coaches that to coach. They use sacked coaches and if sacked they will only replace the sacked one with a sacked one from another club.

I can recall a fair hoo ha some years ago about States picking Islanders who when called upon would play for their country of birth in preference to Australia. It was then stated that unless a player could represent Australia in RL they would be ineligible for State of Origin selection. Now whilst I admit Joseph Sua'ali'i is a very capable footballer, he's off to Rugby Union after this season, so how can he rep Australia in RL? Is the NSWRL making up their rules as they go?
Sua'alii can play RL for Australia this year. What's your point? Should a player who says this is his last year before retirement be barred from playing rep footy because he won't be playing next year?

We don’t need Tedesco, he’s past his prime, stop picking players based on reputation, pick players on current form, Edwards was very unlucky to not get picked the previous two years since Freddy was one of the boys and only picked players from the teams he played for. Madge gets origin and is a hard head.
