small note for anyone who might be tackling this voyage to add: you can bring the forbidden chest down with you to the shrines and store in the mermaid statues for safe keeping. any loot on the ship will still be open to plundering but at least you wont have to start the voyage all over again.

When I did this voyage the first time some guy stole the chest. He knew it had no value, yet he took it because he “wanted it”.
To add to your description in the beggining, the music that plays when you are diving down to those shrines is amazing. I feel so relaxed listening to it
Shrine music is soooo nice, true. I honestly can't get enough of Sea of Thieves orchestral music. My Spotify just recommends everything from it to me lol
When I did this I was surrounded by lots of ships. So I let my ship sail off into the distance and sink, while I took the chest down with me into every shrine. When I resurfaced I would collect my ship wherever it spawned and sail back to the shrine and collect the chest. Didn't take any of the loot because of this but it worked out just fine for me since I always play this game solo.

Dude, you went after my first and currently only curse, it's definitely my favorite and the shipset that goes with it is awesome! *FUN FACT* If you know someone who has already collected all of the journals, they can start up the quest, affectively carrying you to getting the curse! 😂😎
Yeah but is it really "earned" that way though? The trials and tribulations of finding the 30 journals, let alone reading them for the lore, is worth the time spent I think!

The only curse I have. It was surprisingly relaxing to get, probably like as you said, the shrines are beautiful

Thursday I actually found someone doing the voyage and they were at ancient tears and I had a stronghold keg so I went over to use it but I decided after I saw they were doing the quest to wait until they get back aboard to mess with them until I saw they had the shrouded ghost trinket and then it was no mercy
Haahahaa, this actually made me laugh out loud. Just imagining that interaction:
"Aw, they're doing the Curse voyage... I'll leave them b.... is that a GHOST TRINKET?! NO MERCY!!!"

Dude, that curse would match my aesthetic perfectly. I guess it’s finally time to get down into those shrines.
Keep a close eye out for journals as you go down to each one! You don't want to miss one and have to go back!

I was bored a few weeks ago grinding hunters call, so I decided to do shrines for siren gems and decided to go to every shrine and do the journals while I was at it. And surprisingly didn't get attacked at all. It wasn't to bad of a grind in my opinion and I also did the treasury's as well. Now I'm starting work on the gold curse grind and man is it just a lot of sailing all ready hundred percent the first two and they took around 5 hours each
Yeah, the early Tall Tales are SO TRAVEL HEAVY. Not looking forward to getting the Gold Curse myself either...
@@JonBardcore just be glad you guys can use checkpoints to finish it without having to actually do 45 tall tales
Just remember when going for the gold curse guys, when on tribute peak, all the riddle answers are the same EVERY time, so write them down on your first run through OK. I didn't use the saved checkpoint scheme either, I just ran through it all 5 times. That ticked off all my curses now but I find that I hardly use any of them, I was purely grinding hahaha. @@Robatron360 Yeah I'm also trying to do it legitimately. So no checkpoint cheesing. Cause I want to earn it and go through the pain lol
I have started this quest a few times and either got interrupted, sunk or it took so long as solo that I had to quit before I had finished it because life. May try this on a public holiday tomorrow...see if i can get the time!

I got this curse when it first came out, and I still spite Rare for it. It took five attempts for me before I finished the quest without someone sinking me, and since each shrine is far away, I lost many hours for nothing.
Yeah, leaving the ship alone for so long is such a risk. That's why I was so worried 😓
fun fact- the reason these shrines are the one chosen is because they are he closest shrines to the shroud so less chances of being spotted
I don't know... Ancient Tears Shrine is easily spottable from both Plunder and Ancient Spire right at spawn.

Ahh I remember getting the curse for the first time. I was getting chased by a brig while on the final part and it was so exciting!
It's scary leaving your ship behind for so long! Especially if you're not good at shrine puzzles!
@@JonBardcore in this instance I wasn’t even at one of the shrines! A reaper brigantine decided to attack me, even though I didn’t have a flag up 😆

We earned a Sunken Kingdom ship set and our ship now is the most glorious thing that have seen the light of day. You can’t prove me wrong

I spent like 2 months doing every shrine to get the curse (wasn't doing only that of course)

I think it's happened to me once or twice! Worse when trying to do Lost Shipment voyages for merchants
Honestly don’t see why I haven’t tried to get it yet, I was fairly active when the siren shrines & coral curse released but seemed like a bit too much running around and a little too far apart from whatever I was trying to achieve at the time, even now I’ve been focusing on hg getting both curses (managed to get ghost and 5 lvls away from skelle), so think this will be my next goal in Sea of Thieves🤔
Today i've been able to launch the voyage from the table without having the actual commandation, i've completed the quest and now the curse is mine but it feels weird, i kinda feel bad for not having to find those 30 journal event if its a pain in the *ss ^^
I randomly quick joined someone who literally finished the quest 20 seconds after I joined and I earned that curse, wild how long it actually takes to commit to earning it legit.

Did this myself in a single play session the night before community weekend finished 4 hours before the maintenance
Worst part was hiding for 2 hours before I could go to the first location of the quest because a reaper was sat next to the shrine

I despised this quest so much, especially since as I approached the final few steps, I got chased by a Reaper that just wouldn't take a darn hint
Yep, that'll do it. I was so nervous I'd pop from a shrine and see my ship on fire all around me.
@@JonBardcore Fortunately I was doing this with my brother, so when the reaper started to get on my tail, all I had to do was keep the ship moving and he jumped ship with the triangular key to unlock the curse for us both.

I didn't knew that curse existed until someone had it equipped. Was wearing ashen curse since my beginning. But then I heard about the curse I went onto a speedrun to get that curse. From a fire inside my body being exstinguish by the the plant like sunken sorrow curse.
And which do you prefer now?

My friends tell me though that the ashen curse fits better to my DA/Ghost outfit.
A month ago as a way to come back to this game me and 2 of my friends decided to get this commodation and curse in one sesion. It lasted 11h

While I do enjoy how this curse looks I definitely think it (and the gold curse but to a lesser degree) could really benefit from having 3-5 different presets to add some more variety between them. The main reason for me wanting this also is that I think the sunken curse covers too much of the chest and face while not touching the hands like gold or ashen.
It doesn't look quite right in certain lighting scenarios too.
Tip when doing this: Take the chest with you to the shrine and store it in a mermaid. If someone sinks you, you'll still have the chest and keys and don't need to restart

Whatever you do don't do journals and mission in one night. Took so long getting the journals with a friend and then when we found out we had to pretty much had to go to 3 opposite corners of the map we nearly gave up.
Also that ending....really didn't sit well with us.
Yeah, grinding out all the journals only to find out you're going to traverse the map again is ROUGH

Huh! Is it the same key? I thought that was a Vault key?
I dont know! Could be another island but I remember underwater is a triangle shaped divot that might fit that kind of key 🤔🤔

I know not everybody does this, but if I see a ship at a shrine I leave it alone. Its just too damn easy and if feels like such a cheap move.
I think it depends on the amount of loot I see on their ship. If it's a bunch, and there's no lookout, I think it's fair game
Wait, do you not need to get all the breaths of the sea to get the curse? They're still worth it for the gold and are great for hunter's call, but if I don't need to get them for the curse then I know what I'm doing next time I play
Nope! That's a common misconception actually! You just need to find and read the 30 journals across the shrines. That's it! Now go get that curse!
I joined my friends when they were doing the last part of the quest and I got the curse without having to do anything!

I was running it and after I got the 2nd shrine with the chest I panic because I look at the chest and there was no key in so I was like noooo I have to go back luckily I was not needed it just disappeared
Today i did almost everything except Sunken Kingdom Quest
But it took me 4hrs to get all journals
It is a bit grindy, that is for sure. But now you'll never have to think about those journals again!
Had two runs of this voyage ruined by PvP sweaties showing up at the worst time. One literally showed up RIGHT as I was retrieving my chest from the mermaid to move on to the next shrine.
Love this game but I really despise PvPers sometimes...
getting these curses on sea of thieves will take me an eternity to collect them
The longest ones will be the Gold Curse and PvP curses without a doubt!
@@JonBardcore sadly I don’t have access to the place for the skeleton curse at the moment since it’s like lvl 75 to gain access to it but it’ll be awhile

When I got the gold medallion I kept falling in the end it took like 2 hrs to complete on the shrine of oceans fortune

Definitely one of the easiest curses to get, followed by the Ashen Curse. Both are pretty decent, though Sunken Sorrow is less noobish, most of the time
I always felt the Souls Curse was the easiest personally.

Granted, doing Heart of Fire three times vs doing Cursed Rogue five times is there, though there is also the factor in Heart of Fire of doing each of the three paths once and finding the journal located on each path vs. Rogue where you can get journals on your first go and then just run through it 4 more times
To me the ashen curse is far easier, just more time consuming
When I did it I can't get the tablet and it scared me so much but I head to swap the tablet with a banana so I got the curse in the end!

I have a really good microphone! The Neumann TLM 107, along with a Allen & Heath Mixer that's plugged into the PC and then I use Adobe Audition to fine-tune!
