she has such a good attention span i would watch that, go to critique and forget everything i just watched lol props to abby this time. i prefer her much more when she is calm whilst critiquing rather than screaming at them

+Trinity Corpuz In England, in most of the dance schools I have been to I have been taught to look over the audiences heads. At competitions and festivals the competitors will always perform to the back of the theatre
If u go pro in westend u norm get taught to perform to the back of the theatre, most dance schools perform into the mirror. A British performer often do it diffrently to an Americans, xx if u get me

As a musical theatre person myself, we're normally told by directors and drama teachers to look above the audience's head and not directly at them, because there's a fourth wall. I'm guessing this is what she was thinking.
For all you people who think thid is musical theatre, its actually called "Vocal Dance". Which is 50% dance and 50% singing. Also known as musical theatre with singing!

The singer looks bored some of the time. Especially when she's singing before the dance routine. That shouldn't happen. She should be 110% committed. Nice voice though.
for all the ppl saying some of abbys dance start with the dancers backs to the audience. those peices arent musical threater. in musical threater, just music in general or theater in general you dont wanna start with ur back to the audience.
here we see how a good performer takes critiques with grace and knows to separate it from any personal attack. much respect to the young woman, she had a smile on her face throughout.

This reminds me when I was at a dance competition and one of the “dances” came on stage and all the girl did was sing. My mom was like, “Why is she singing when this is a dance competition?” She was singing Part of your World from The Little Mermaid and all she did was stand and sing. I was very confused. And at the end she got 1st Place in the solo category.....

I've never been much of a dancer myself, I'm away more into acting, but I've been to pineapple dance studios and had a peak into some of the classes when I was doing a workshop there, and there are some crazy talented dancers there.
I thought pineapple studio was a dance shop because in my dance studio I see dancers wereing dance clothes with pineapple love to dance on it

Probably the best choreographed solo presented to her. And it's a vocal dance which is half singing and half musical theatre, so that's why she appears to be singing more than dancing.

In musical theatre pieces, or in any theatre at all, it is a rule to not face away from the audience. If you watch any musical or play, you will notice that they rarely ever turn their back to the audience
